Chapter 1278: Awkward Guardian

[Valor Leap]!

This was a rare Guardian skill which allowed the user to jump in the air and target enemies on the ground resulting in a massive displacement.

After escaping the sea of flames, Omnidirectional grasped the sides of his shield as he viciously slammed down on Ming Du.

“Boom!”

Omnidirectional landed with a loud thud and there was a deep compression beneath his feet. A wave of seismic disturbance propagated out from his impact.

Ming Du instantly sensed the danger and his figure flashed into the distance.

Omnidirectional seemingly had calculated Ming Du’s path of escape. Without missing a beat, he executed [Charge] in the direction of Ming Du.

Omnidirectional’s course of action was within reasonable expectation because he had already accounted for the potential route of escape that Ming Du could take. Ming Du could not possibly retreat back in the sea of flames. As soon as Omnidirectional occupied the high ground, Ming Du would lose his advantage.

Sure enough, as soon as Ming Du landed, Omnidirectional was already within striking distance in [Charge]. He executed a [Taunt] as Ming Du was forcibly brought towards Omnidirectional.

The whole sequence of Omnidirectional landing and cornering Ming Du only took a few seconds. This smooth series of movement left the audience breathless at Omnidirectional’s display of skill.

After Ming Du was shackled, Omnidirectional grasped tightly at his neck with one hand and slammed him heavily into the face of the mountain wall.

“Boom!”

The stone walls of the mountain collapsed under the intense pressure. A few coils appeared above the head of Ming Du.

Omnidirectional lifted his shield and fiercely pounded Ming Du for a final hit. The poor Ming Du dissipated into a streak of white light as he was sent out of the arena.

No matter how low a Guardian’s attack damage was, in melee range, it was more than sufficient to kill a vulnerable Magician. What more when Omnidirectional was such an expert himself...

...

After Ming Du lost his match, there was only one member left for Team A Murder Of Crow in the second round while Kyushu Squad was still only at their third member.

Even though Team A Murder Of Crow had the advantage of favourable terrain, the gulf in skills between the players of the two teams was still highlighted.

As the light column started pulsating, it finally landed on Spring Halo.

Boundless Ocean’s heart skipped a beat as he saw Spring Halo making his debut.

Due to a generation gap, many of the newer players may not have heard of Spring Halo’s reputation. As a player with a wealth of experience, Boundless Ocean knew how wretched Spring Halo could be.

At the establishment of Quan Zhen Sect, there were only three members, Fearless, Spring Halo and Lonely Ling. There were deemed as the three masters.

Fearless was renowned for his strategic mind, Lonely Ling for her peerless beauty and Spring Halo for his unassailable strength.

Before Wang Yu joined them, Spring Halo always held the position as Quan Zhen Sect’s top master. The reason for Quan Zhen Sect’s apparent shamelessness and bad behavior was largely due to his influence.

He was a fundamentally wretched existence.

Although Spring Halo had grown older, his wretched character was not curbed in the slightest. With his class as a Shaman and his strong individual ability, Boundless Ocean was fearful of him. He knew that Omnidirectional was not a match for him at all.

In <<REBIRTH>> and many other online games, poison attacks had always ignored a player’s defense.

Although Omnidirectional had a high defense attribute, it was difficult to envision a way to victory when facing a Shaman like Spring Halo which could control poison.

As expected from Boundless Ocean, the moment Spring Halo appeared on stage he rushed immediately towards Omnidirectional.

Omnidirectional knew the lethal and virulent effects of a poison attack. As he saw that Spring Halo surged towards him, he hurriedly raised his shield.

“Hehe!”

Spring Halo chuckled coldly and stopped in his tracks. He lifted his eyes and enshrouded Omnidirectional with a brown poisonous mist.

Although the poison attack ignored the defense of the player, as long as a Guardian’s shield was still intact, any attacks would not injure the player.

As Spring Halo’s poison grazed the surface of Omnidirectional’s shield, it was not absorbed or blocked. Instead, the mist clung onto the surface of the shield and emitted a low sizzling sound.

Omnidirectional’s shield spewed with white smoke and the durability of the shield began to drop.

[Corrosive Poison]!

This poison was originally sent by Wang Yu from the Alchemist’s box to Spring Halo. It was a unique kind of poison in the game.

The poison had no effect on the player but it could corrode equipment!

“F*ck!”

Upon realising that his precious shield had lost durability, Omnidirectional was scared out of his wits.

In the game, no matter whether it was a professional or common player, their equipment was the most valuable thing to them.

Dying only resulted in a loss of 10% of experience. Losing in a competition only resulted in a loss of one point. However, when it came to an equipment, once it was damaged, it would be difficult to salvage it. Even so when one’s equipment was such a critical component in the Guardian class.

The shield was Omnidirectional’s true asset. Seeing that his shield was quickly falling into disrepair, Omnidirectional quickly swapped it for a broadsword and rushed towards Spring Halo.

Spring Halo’s poison was destructive but it came at a high cost. Spring Halo had obtained the method to create the poison almost half a year ago but he only managed to procure three successful batches.

Spring Halo had no use for the poison anymore since Omnidirectional had also kept his shield. With a crooked smile, he slammed his staff onto the ground. A pale yellow liquid emerged around Omnidirectional.

“Bloop!”

Omnidirectional foot sank into the liquid and his speed was reduced to almost a snail-like pace.

At this instant, Spring Halo lifted his staff.

“Swoosh!”

[Poison Nova] flew out from Spring Halo and diffused into the surrounding area. Omnidirectional was inflicted with a poisonous green color and his HP bar began to drop rapidly.

This was an awkward moment when a Guardian fought against a Shaman.

A Shaman’s poison attack simply ignored any player’s defense and the HP loss rate was also calculated by percentage terms. The high HP bar that a Guardian had was not a reliable form of defense against a Shaman.

Furthermore, a Guardian moved slowly and they did not have the agility to dodge skills like other classes, especially not a highly skilled Shaman like Spring Halo.

Since one could not run away, nor could they put up a fight, the only remaining option was to wait for death.

Omnidirectional struggled valiantly for another few remaining moments... But the outcome was clear, he was eventually poisoned to death and dissipated into white light.
