Chapter 306 Lord of Pirate

"What... What... What is that thing!?" The pirate captain lost his mind, shouting at the scene of carnage. His instincts, honed by countless dangerous situations, screamed at him to run away. The pirate captain, wise enough to trust his instincts, quickly retreated from the battlefield without warning his subordinates.

He fervently prayed that their lives would buy him even a second longer to escape from the demon in human skin.

Daniel, ever observant, noticed the captain's retreat and heightened his killing capabilities. His left hand deftly throwing daggers at any pirates who dared obstruct his path as he pursued the fleeing captain.

The rate at which the pirates met their demise increased, and the pirate captain finally reached his jetski.

"F*ck! F*ck! F*ck! F*ck! F*ck!!! Start! Start! Just START UP! YOU DAMN MACHINE!!" The pirate captain shouted in Japanese, growing more panicked with each passing second. As all his subordinates neared death and Daniel closed in with murderous intent, the captain desperately tried to start his jetski.

For Daniel, capturing or killing the pirate captain was crucial to ensuring the safety of the two women. At this moment, he didn't know where the captain had hidden them, and he was too occupied to check the information the spy metal scarab had sent him.

Originally planning a stealthier approach, Daniel's cover was blown when a pirate idiot released a yellow laser at the bush where he was hiding, leading to the current dire situation. As a result, he didn't even have time to check the latest information from the metal scarab.

"Helppppp! Someone! Anyone! Please Help!" A desperate cry for help reached Daniel's ears, a voice he recognized. Emma ran toward him, tears and snot on her face, and knelt down.

"Please! Please help! My lady is about to die!" Emma pleaded with Daniel, who was momentarily stunned. He considered asking her if she was no longer concerned about owing him a favor, but he suppressed the thought; now was not the time.

He quickly rushed toward the plane wreckage cabin and found the blue-haired lady lying on her stomach, a gunshot wound in her back near her spine.

"Shit…" Daniel uttered as he quickly checked the girl.

He observed that the girl had indeed survived the shot, but her spine was significantly damaged. Aside from her head, she couldn't move at all. Moreover, he needed a clean place to extract the bullet from her spine.

Daniel felt frustrated. If he weren't here, he might have been able to do something. With his knowledge as a Grand Alchemist, he could easily put the girl into stasis and find a way to help her with an elixir. However, as long as the bullet remained lodged in her spine, the diluted elixir of immortality wouldn't be able to heal her.

It would be even worse as the bullet would obstruct the elixir's ability to repair her body fully.

Then, in thinking about putting someone into stasis, Daniel remembered one of his pet projects.

"Can you keep a secret?" Daniel asked the girls, especially Emma, as he looked straight into her eyes.

"I'll do anything!" Emma quickly accepted the condition without caring about the nature of the secret. At this moment, she only cared about the safety of the blue-haired lady.

Daniel stared into Emma's eyes for a few seconds before letting out a sigh and deciding to bet on her promise. He produced a small device resembling a syringe gun and injected it into Seraphina's upper arm.

Pst!

A silent hiss of gas filled the air, and within a few seconds, Seraphina appeared significantly calmer before peacefully falling asleep.

"What are you doing?" Emma asked curiously about Daniel's actions. Was it some kind of anesthetic or a sleeping drug?

"I gave her a small dose of nanite shot that will put her body into stasis, stabilizing her condition long enough for us to get some help," Daniel explained.

"Stasis? That small syringe!? How is this possible?" Emma asked in disbelief.

"Whether you believe it or not is up to you. The important thing is that your lady is safe for at least 2 days. In these 2 days, she wouldn't need to eat or even breathe. All of her bodily functions will stop at this moment, and there's no improvement or deterioration in her condition. You can rest assured," Daniel explained once again without divulging any inner workings of the nanite injection.

Emma nodded in understanding without commenting anything. Her demeanor had nearly made a 180-degree turn upside down. She was more calm and subdued, as if all of her facade of pride and arrogance had vanished into thin air.

Daniel then took out some of his strange devices from his trench coat and checked Seraphina's condition. The device provided information about the small nanites that he had injected into Seraphina's body.

Actually, these nanites were one of his pet projects that he had created, inspired by playing a game featuring a politician as the main villain who injected nanomachines into his body, turning him into a formidable fighter who could go toe-to-toe with a cyborg martial arts hero.

Now, this was just a prototype, and these nanites were a product of magic, a result of him mixing both his Alchemy and Artifice knowledge together. The most they could do was put someone in stasis for a few days without any backlash, which fell short of what he wanted to replicate from the game.

As he had expected, the mysterious force that completely drained all of the mana would only react to the mana that manifested outside of one's body, not the inside. This included mana kept within some kind of sealed space, such as the mana within his mana vial.

But the moment he crushed or opened the mana vial, it would immediately be drained by the mysterious forces on this island.

Right now, there were two choices to help this blue-haired girl. The first one was to create a sealed environment that could protect against the mana-draining effect on this island. The other was to bring her to another island or another place where this island's mana-draining effect couldn't affect him.

No, there was actually a third choice. The last one was that he could just claim this island for himself by using the location claim card, and the island's power would not affect him, his people, or anything he wished to remain unaffected.

He remembered that the claiming process was not the usual magic that used mana; it was like some kind of power that bound the location and siphoned its power to him. The only thing that prevented him from claiming it was that this island seemed to have an owner.

Daniel kept these considerations in his mind. He then called Kato, who was waiting for him not far from here.

"Yes, boss. I'll go there immediately," Kato replied.

After Kato arrived, he arranged for him to take care of the two ladies and cook, as he found out that the plane cabin refrigerator still had some food.

"Kato, do you know who owns this island?" Daniel asked in case Kato might have an answer for him, but he didn't count on it.

"I don't know, but my best bet is that the lord of the Ryukyu islands, Yarimasa Kuroda, owns it, and he's one of the most powerful people in the Ryukyu islands. There are also some rumors that he's the one who controls these pirates, and all of the pirates rampaging around here send a lot of tribute to him," Kato explained.

"In other words, he's like a local mafia boss who controls the sea around here, and anyone wanting to make money in his territory needs to give him a cut?" Daniel interpreted it in a way he understood.

Hearing this, Kato made a complicated face. "Well, to put it bluntly, it is something like that, but he's not a mafia boss because he also has a lot of authority bestowed by the shogun, and he also needs to answer to the shogun's authority too," Kato explained once again.

"I see," Daniel nodded in understanding.

"If he's ruling the area around here, including this island, then why hasn't the rescue team arrived yet? It's been more than a day since our plane crashed," Emma asked the question to Kato.

Kato, looking at Emma in confusion, then looked at Daniel as if asking if it's okay for her to ask him. Since Kato is working for Daniel right now, he needs permission from Daniel to answer.

"I'm also curious about that," Daniel nodded and asked about it.

Kato nodded and started to explain. "You see, this island is not exactly on the map of Japan. Lord Kuroda owns this island, that is true, but unless something major happens, he will not come here, and any pirate who dares to build a base here will get a death sentence from him. Their entire forces will also get destroyed. I don't know why, but that's what it is," Kato explained.
