Chapter 51 - 51 - Fragment

"Why... How are you here?" Soulshifter stammered in a trembling voice.

"This is the price of my revenge against those treacherous gods who sought to steal my power of greater item creation," Ashren explained.

"I chose to wander in the void instead of undergoing reincarnation. This is the cost, and you cannot obstruct our plans," Ashren continued.

"Great Fragment of the Mother of Creation, I beseech the honor of correcting this anomaly," Ashren respectfully bowed, awaiting the fragment's approval.

The fragment nodded in agreement, signaling Ashren to proceed with the correction of the anomaly.

Within the void, Ashren wielded a hammer, a tool for forging the weapon of change. With a resolute strike, he targeted Soulshifter's ego. An ethereal light emitted from Ashren's hammer, illuminating the surroundings as the laws themselves began to shift and transform. Strange and arcane words flowed through the air like a mystic river. Ashren, with each deliberate swing of his hammer, rewrote the very essence of the Law of Contract, altering the fundamental rules that bound the realm.

"No, you can't! How? How are you altering the laws?" Soulshifter screamed in agony.

"I created this realm, it is separate from the current realm, and those laws do not apply here. No one will be able to notice if the laws have changed in this realm. When I send you back to the current realm, they will remain ignorant. We shall erase your memory, so you will not recall what transpired here," The Fragment of the Mother of Creation spoke with a voice that resonated ominously.

Soulshifter's screams of agony gradually faded into silence as Ashren completed the re-forging of the Ego and altered the law. He removed the Law of Contract and replaced it with the Law of Favor, a new set of rules that would grant Eclipse and Bong certain benefits and protections.

"Great Fragment of the Mother of Creation, I beseech your approval for this correction. I have re-forged the Soulshifter, transforming the law from the Law of Contract to the Law of Favor. It can no longer enforce contracts to claim the life of Bong," Ashren spoke with his posture marked by humility and reverence.

"But I have one doubt, If you allow, may I ask you?" Ashren politely inquired, bowing slightly as he sought permission.

"Proceed," the Fragment of the Mother of Creation granted.

"Those within this realm cannot detect the change in the law, but what if Eclipse were to use this power outside of this realm? Would those outside be able to detect the alteration in the law?" Ashren inquired, his face reflecting a mix of concern and curiosity.

The Fragment of the Mother of Creation contemplated Ashren's question thoughtfully. It appears that all those laws, such as the Law of Contracts, the Law of Favors, the Law of Gluttony and the myriad of other powers bestowed upon individuals in the universe, are meticulously recorded in a transcendent, ultra-dimensional realm within the domain of the primordial gods.

This realm operates independently of the constraints of time and conventional reality. Consequently, any attempt to tamper with these laws from the lower dimensions is considered a grave offense, akin to a profound transgression. In such cases, the highest-tier primordial gods would intervene to enforce cosmic justice.

"Your concern is indeed valid, Ashren. If Eclipse were to employ the power of the Soulshifter in the lower realms, it would undoubtedly trigger alarms and provoke the intervention of higher powers. However, this can be addressed. Permit me to propose a solution: I shall incorporate a void barrier into Eclipse's ability. Whenever he employs the Soulshifter's power, this barrier will manifest. It will effectively conceal any detectable signs of changes to the Law of Contract," She explained after careful consideration and analysis.

The Fragment of the Mother of Creation embarked on the complex task of incorporating a void barrier into the Soulshifter's power. Her actions were a mesmerizing dance of magic and light, with arcane texts floating in the air like ancient scripts of knowledge. Her voice, resonant with power and wisdom, intoned strange and mystic incantations.

The Fragment's hands moved gracefully through the air, weaving the threads of magic into the new law. It was a delicate process, one that required precision and profound understanding of the cosmic order. She chanted and gestured, and slowly but surely, the void barrier took shape.

This realm was a place of isolation, impervious to the notice of higher powers. Within this hidden dimension, the changes to the Law of Contract would go unnoticed, ensuring that Eclipse could utilize the Soulshifter's power without drawing the attention of cosmic entities. The process was intricate, and the Fragment's mastery over cosmic laws was evident as she completed the enchantment.

"It is done," she declared with a sense of accomplishment, her expression serene.

"This barrier is not a tangible construct, but rather a metaphysical concept. It will trigger automatically whenever Eclipse employs the Soulshifter's ability to exchange life for souls. It functions as a dimensional partition, isolating the Soulshifter from the current dimension and relocating it to an alternate realm," She explained with clarity, ensuring that Ashren understood the intricacies of the safeguard.

Once her work was complete, she sent the Soulshifter back to reality. In this fragmented realm, time flowed differently than in Eclipse's current reality. As the Soulshifter returned, Eclipse moved to intercept it, a sense of urgency in his actions.

However, as he observed the Soulshifter's return, he noticed something peculiar. There appeared to be no immediate change in Bong, and the Soulshifter remained silent, refusing to communicate with him.

Eclipse suddenly had an epiphany, and a burst of laughter overcame him. He couldn't believe he hadn't realized it sooner.

"I've got it! How did I not understand this before? Haha! How could you even attempt to claim years of life from Bong? He's your creator! Now, it's your turn to face the consequences!" Eclipse laughed heartily, even breaking into a silly dance in the middle of the forest. Onlookers stared at him with perplexed expressions.

"What on earth are you doing, Eclipse? Why are you dancing like that?" Bong inquired, utterly bewildered.

But then, in a surprising turn of events, Seraphina sprang into action. She swiftly grabbed Eclipse and tossed him a considerable distance away.

"You, scram from here! I have something crucial to discuss with Master. Be gone from here!" She declared, her tone a mix of urgency and drama.

Eclipse, with his head hanging low and his backside up in the air, let out a voice that sounded more pitiful than painful.

"What did I do to deserve this treatment? Is dancing such a ridiculous offense?" He mumbled with a voice that conveyed his bewilderment.
