Chapter 524: Thank You, Gallo

All this was happening while Compass Carburettor and Rhizen were focused on Bernata. The Systems Hosts were well aware that he was only able to deal with one of them at a time.

After all, facing two System Hosts would rapidly raise the number of variables that their Luck could take advantage of, causing more losses than benefits. Hence, only one System Host would be dealt with at a time.

And since they had yet to receive Bernata’s Bullshit Luck, it meant that she wasn’t killed. So, if they wished to do anything, they had to take action in this time period.

This was the reason Morlacle proposed a suicide plan against Gallo, feeling strange at Compass Carburettor’s way of doing things.

Cough!

Bunuela was sent flying by Morlacle as her body of flames was almost scattered by the tornado he had unleashed.

He stacked up as much damage as he could unleash onto her, smiling as he watched a beam of healing light land on her immediately. ‘This retard doesn’t have much plans.’

Even though Gallo had received an education from the Academy and had obtained a lot of benefits, he wasn’t truly able to make use of a lot of them. Even a Sleeper Cell seed only gave them some instructions. It didn’t change their innate nature and intelligence.

Because of that, he wasn’t good at managing his Origin Essence, healing anyone he came across. If not for the team that constantly supplied him Essence Stones every time he made an appearance, Gallo would have long run out of Origin Essence.

But, this was no longer possible as he was disrupted constantly, preventing him from escaping the prying senses of his enemies. This painted him as the target that took the highest priority to be rid of.

Immediately, the battlefield converged around him as the centre, with one side intending to claim his life while the other tried to protect him.

“No…” Slowly, Gallo sensed that lives were being lost because of him, tearing up as he didn’t like such a notion at all, “Don’t protect me.”

“Then, head to the rear, Gallo,” Bunuela shouted as she gasped for air, targeting Morlacle, preventing him from dissipating with the wind.

“Yes!” Gallo shouted as he turned around and began to run towards the rear of the battlefield when suddenly, three corrosive arrows slammed into the ground before him, resulting in an explosion that sent him flying, riddling him with injuries as a corrosive energy invaded his being.

His abilities came into effect as he transformed into a Mystic Chameleon, instantly regenerating himself while trying to blend in with the surroundings and escape.

But at this time, a mysterious radiance slammed into him, undoing his transformation before highlighting his figure for everyone to see. A formless power continued to seep into him, weakening him further and further, reducing the effectiveness of his healing powers.

It was raised to such an extent that the debuff that had been applied onto the entire Gaider Realm army vanished, with all that power focused on him alone. Now that he was trapped and focused by Ikun’s power, Gallo’s healing abilities became alarmingly weak.

“No!” He shouted upon seeing a senior powerhouse use his body to protect him, turning into a pool of blood in the process as countless powerful radiances slammed into him.

Gallo extended his hand, unleashing a healing beam as he shed tears, watching the injuries heal alarmingly slow. And after the same was repeated a couple more times, despair set in him, making him feel helpless, unable to heal anyone.

For, he had run out of Origin Essence. Even his Martial Spirit was wholly suppressed, so much that even his rate of recovery became a pitiful trickle.

Boom!

Ranze unleashed countless attacks by transforming into three crossbows, targeting Falls with reckless abandon.

But his opponent seemed to have forsaken everything, sustaining injuries from his attacks while accumulating the entirety of his power, transforming into a crossbow before unleashing an attack at the expense of shattering himself.

Origin Art—Critical Hit!

Core Skill—Critical Luck!

He instantly turned into an old man, having expended all his lifeforce to fuel that attack, not to mention sacrificing his Martial Spirit by harnessing the entirety of his Luck values.

Critical Luck was only useful once. It required a large charging time before being useful again. Until now, while he was fighting against Ranze, he was only expending bits of Critical Luck to injure his opponent better.

But now, he used the entirety, unleashing the true might of this one-use form of Luck as the corrosive light arrow he unleashed turned almost ethereal, vanishing from view the moment it was launched.

And an instant later, it seemed to have penetrated all the defensive barriers erected around Gallo. Or rather, it has swerved through them all by manipulating cause and effect, slamming into its target—Gallo!

“Aah!” Gallo screamed in pain as the arrow vanished after slamming into him. A moment later, intense despair welled up from within him as he gazed at the dead figures of the cultivators that were on the ground before him, as corpses, in their efforts to protect him.

“I…failed to protect everyone.” His eyes gradually glossed over as he gazed at the sky, sensing his body crumbling from within, knowing with assurance that his death was certain.

“Dammit!” Suddenly, Compass Carburettor’s shout resounded as a jet-black figure appeared, instantly erecting a Reality Marble so that Gallo would revive soon after.

“This is…Critical Luck?” Rhizen was alarmed, stating after being glared at by Compass Carburettor, “It’s meant to affect cause and effect to deliver a guaranteed outcome. And Gallo…didn’t defend with the appropriate means. His Luck and even fate have already been destroyed.”

“Umm…sir,” Gallo said weakly, raising his hand to grab the edges of the jet-black cloak, “I did my best all along. So…as a reward, can you grant my only wish?”

‘Fuck!’ Compass Carburettor lost his cool as even the pity he was supplying Gallo didn’t have any effect as Gallo’s luck had shattered and vanished. Moreover, even his healing ability proved useless.

As he stared at Gallo’s face, realising that the other party had less than a few seconds to live, he snapped his finger, connecting with the minds of everyone on the battlefield as he commanded, “Everyone! Address our Healer with the respect he deserves. Let’s fulfil his wish.”

Bunuela was the first to take action, sighing as he muttered, “Thank you for saving my life many times…”

“Gallo!”
