Chapter 26: Demon’s Hideout

[Forest of Elenor]

Fein walked through the forest with Kidd... They are currently looking for the location of the Demons’ Base.

They got an idea of where the base was, and it was on this mountain. They left at 8 a.m. and arrived in the forest at 3 p.m. using the Ranger’s Eye carriage, despite the fact that the forest is very far away from the city branch.

Fein carefully scanned the trees... Because he’d been having a bad feeling ever since they arrived in the area. The entire forest is gloomy, and he didn’t see any animals from the start.

That’s why he decided to be extra cautious so that he wouldn’t be caught off guard if anything went wrong.

Kidd was wary as well... He has a lot of experience fighting supernatural beings. He was very active in the organization, completing tasks at a rate of 96.51 percent.

He was taking part in every mission he could when he could... Although he appears to be a person who does not take things seriously, Fein even assumed at first that Kidd is the type of person who enjoys fooling around. But it surprised him that every time they were on a mission, Kidd was very reliable and rigorous in his way of handling things.

.....

-20 minutes later-

They’re finally figured out where the base is... They’re currently on the run from a place filled with maliciousness. They were getting close when they heard some wolves howling. It was so loud that Fein’s ear hurt a little. He quickly covered it with both arms.

“It appears that there are werewolves here...” Kidd said solemnly.

Fein looked at him and saw that he was looking in the direction of the howling. “Are they powerful?”

“No, but they have very good coordination and are very bloodthirsty; they will charge at you madly even if they know they will die,” Kidd says, his voice trembling.

“Well, it doesn’t matter... We need to find the Demon’s base quickly and stop them from attacking another city before it’s too late,” Fein said as he took his sword from its scabbard.

Kidd agreed with a nod and says. “You’re right... we also need to gather information on their remaining bases; otherwise, thousands, if not millions, of people will perish.”

After hearing what he said... Fein clenched his fist, wanting to save as many people as he can whenever he can... But he’s not the kind of person who would give his life for them. Fein still put his own survival first. He only decided to help those people that would cross his path, and not everyone, because that would tire him to death.

...

-10 minutes later-

Fein was currently hiding inside a bush... Kidd was beside him and they were now discussing the next course of action. Because there are eight werewolves within five meters of their location... They’ll have a difficult time fighting them with just the two of them. Worst of all... They’re all Rank C, so Kidd and Fein decided to take down two of them quickly to maximize their use of stealth in the forest. They will use guerilla warfare to reduce their numbers until they are all dead.

“I’ll take down the one who appears to be their leader, and then everything will go as planned,” Kidd said as he activated his ability.

And he vanished in an instant... Fein jumped to the top of a tree to observe them and wait for a chance to strike.

...

-General POV-

The werewolves were howling maniacally, oblivious to the impending danger.

Kidd is now on the back of an unsuspecting wolf who seems to be the leader of the pack. He activated his light sword and successfully slashed the target’s neck. The blood splattered in the body of the wolf and it fell to the grass. It took aback the wolves when they saw their dead leader. They didn’t think anyone would be brave enough to kill their leader alone while they were present.

When Kidd saw this, he quickly raised his left hand in a gun-holding posture.

*Shoosh!*

Kidd made a shooting gesture in his right hand on the wolf, who was still processing the death of their leader, with a small pointed light lit up on his index finger.

Kidd uttered the ability’s name, “Light Beam.”

A beam of light manages to penetrate the chest of one of the wolves in an instant. Seeing as he was able to kill two more wolves than expected. He provoked the wolves by running in the opposite direction to escape. All of this happened in a fraction of a second.

The wolves awoke from their trance... With the enemy’s overbearing provocation, they howled with bloodshot eyes. They chased Kidd furiously, with their green fur erect, and they didn’t notice a pair of two eyes staring just above them.

...

The wolves’ stupidity astounded Fein. Kidd manages to take out two of them as a result of it... Well, Fein must say that it is indeed hard to defend against Kidd’s ability. After all, that Light Beam is almost as fast as the speed of light. If he were on the receiving end, he’s not sure he’d be able to avoid it. At the very least, he was confident that he can quickly turn around to protect his vitals.

Fein now looked at the back of the wolves who were chasing Kidd. He quickly gathered his foot strength and jumped forward while subconsciously employing the Flashing Dash Technique. He appeared behind the wolves and struck them with his self-created Flashing Scabbard... Because of his incredible attack speed, his sword became a flash of light.

One of the perceptive wolves turned around, as if sensing something. However, it was too late. Fein’s attack struck one of them, and it severed his body in a clean cut. Before he died, the wolf had a dumbfounded expression on his face. One of the wolves didn’t give Fein a chance to flee, as if they had learned their previous lesson.

One of them suddenly vanished from the spot and reappeared beside him at a rate faster than anything he saw before. Fein drew his sword to defend himself, but it was too late.

A claw manage to slash his chest, and it threw him out and slammed into a tree. His chest now has a deep claw-shaped wound... It had a constant flow of blood in it. Because of the pain, his face was twisted.

When the wolves realized this, they surrounded Fein to keep him from fleeing.

Fein had an evil grin on his face and he covering his wound to prevent blood loss. ‘Now,’ he murmured in his head.

“Die, motherfuckers!” Fein yelled at them.

He bowed his head and gazed at the ground. His actions baffled the wolves, but they continued unabated.

“Blinding Spark,” a loud voice called out from behind him. Kidd appeared, and a flash of light swept through the entire area like a flashbang.
