Chapter 188: The Return Journey

Finally, the giant monster could not withstand the torture and fell to its knees. It died suddenly.

When the giant monster fell to the ground, countless snowflakes were stirred up on the ground.

“It’s dead, right?” The three of them approached it carefully and if they didn’t, they would not have been able to tell. The head of the monster alone was much taller than them.

Qin Xiaoxi poked the monster’s huge head with the Yue Maiden Sword. It seemed that the monster was truly dead.

“Finally, the monster is subdued.” Liu Xun breathed a sigh of relief. At this moment, there was a hint of a different emotion in his eyes.

Over the past few decades, many of his brothers had died at the hands of this monster.

“Sigh, this can be considered as an explanation for my brothers in the underworld. I’ve avenged them.”

Liu Xun’s smile seemed to contain many complicated emotions. Jiang Yun and Qin Xiaoxi could feel some joy, relief, and even some grief, but most of it should be the longing for his dead brothers.

“Yes, it’s been a few decades. I finally have an explanation.”

Jiang Yun smiled and nodded as if he wanted to ease Liu Xun’s grief.

“I don’t know why, but after the monster died, everything changed.” Liu Xun thought so, but he decided not to tell Jiang Yun and Qin Xiaoxi.

“Since the monster is gone, my wife will be much safer. I’ll send you to the shore.” Liu Xun’s thoughts were interrupted by Jiang Yun’s words, and then his smile changed, he wanted to send Jiang Yun and Qin Xiaoxi off.

“There’s no need, Brother Liu. Go back and take good care of your wife. We know the way, so there’s no need to trouble you to send us off.” Jiang Yun threw his head back and smiled. Then, he looked at Qin Xiaoxi and blinked.

Qin Xiaoxi was stunned by Jiang Yun’s blink, but she still reacted and persuaded Liu Xun to go back and take care of his wife.

“Yes, you should return quickly.”

Seeing the two of them stop him repeatedly, Liu Xun naturally didn’t insist. Instead, he said goodbye to Qin Xiaoxi and Jiang Yun.

“To be honest, I haven’t talked to anyone for a long time. This time, I’m especially grateful to you.” Before he left, Liu Xun didn’t forget to express his gratitude.

Perhaps this was truly an extravagant thing for him.

After all, he had spent the past few decades alone.

“You and Ah Xue must live happily together.”

The two of them joked that at this moment, and Liu Xun was already on the saddle.

When Liu Xun heard this, he reached out to touch his beard, then he looked up at the sky and laughed. “Hahahaha… you two as well. I hope you can grow old together.”

“Hahaha, you’ve misunderstood… us.” Jiang Yun didn’t react when he heard this, he waved his hand to show that he and Qin Xiaoxi weren’t lovers. He also secretly glanced at Qin Xiaoxi’s expression.

Qin Xiaoxi was no better. Her face was as red as a ripe apple.

“Who wants to grow old with him?” Qin Xiaoxi mumbled. The snow and ice in the Northern Region could no longer cover her burning face.

However, Liu Xun only looked at the two of them meaningfully. Then, he revealed an enigmatic smile.

“Well, I should go now. Be careful on your way back,” Liu Xun reminded them again. He suddenly stopped as if he had remembered something very important.

“What’s wrong, Brother Liu?”

Before Jiang Yun could finish asking, Liu Xun threw a cloth bag over.

“What’s this?” Jiang Yun asked curiously.

“This thing can allow you to pass through the Sea of the Northern Region safely. Just take it out when you encounter danger. The sea monsters recognize the aura of the Dragon God.”

“Thank you, Brother Liu,” Jiang Yun quickly thanked him.

“Alright, I’m leaving. Be careful on your way.” After saying that, Liu Xun continued to walk towards the Crescent Moon Mountain, waving at them with his back facing them. “Don’t worry about the white-furred bears when you reach the shore. They’ll know the way back.”

“See you later!” The two shouted at Liu Xun’s gradually shrinking back.

Liu Xun didn’t turn his head and continued his way towards the Crescent Moon Mountain. As Liu Xun was getting farther away, Jiang Yun looked at Qin Xiaoxi with a half-smile.

“What are you looking at? Let’s go.” Qin Xiaoxi gave Jiang Yun a vicious blow, then mounted the white-furred bear and walked with Jiang Yun towards the direction where they came from.

At this moment, dawn broke, and an orange ray of light filled the sky.

The whistling snowstorm gradually weakened. It was no longer as bone-piercing and fierce as before.

Jiang Yun and Qin Xiaoxi rode on the white-furred bear and left their marks on the snowy ground. Step by step, they walked towards the boat they had come from.

When the two of them reached the shore of the fishing boat, the sky was almost completely bright. Jiang Yun could feel a ray of sunlight shining on his face.

“I can’t believe I can feel the long-lost sunlight in the Northern Region of the permafrost.” Jiang Yun couldn’t help but sigh.

“Yeah, it seems like I haven’t felt it for a long time.”

The two of them got off the bear’s back and jumped into the thick snow. Qin Xiaoxi reached out her hand and stroked the furry head of the white-furred bear. The white-furred bear seemed to close its eyes comfortably, then, it rubbed its head against Qin Xiaoxi’s cheek.

“Alright, you should go back,” Qin Xiaoxi said gently to the white-furred bear. It let out a whimper and then strode towards Crescent Moon Mountain.

After staying in the Northern Region for nearly three days, the fishing boats moored on the shore were now covered in a lot of snow. However, for some reason, the boats looked much better than when they first bought them.

Jiang Yun swept away the snow from the rocks that were used to fix the ropes. Then, he untied the knotted ropes bit by bit. However, the temperature in the Northern Region was too low. Jiang Yun felt as if the ropes were frozen.

After busying themselves for a while, the two of them finally boarded the boat.

They stood on the deck and looked at the Crescent Moon Mountain in the distance and the Holy Saint Snow Mountain that was hidden in the clouds. For some reason, there was an indescribable sense of grandeur at this moment.

Perhaps it was because they had realized what they wanted. Or perhaps it was because of this long-lost sun.

“Then, the journey of the Northern Region has come to an end.”
