Astoria was correct in her observation. The huge Chaos-level monster didn’t seem to have a single scratch on his body.
On the contrary, Aurora was spent by having used her magic to lead the beast away and Astoria’s aura indicated that she was not in the best health either.
The burden of having to use Blazing point had not yet faded away from her body. A second ignition would be impossible for her.
Aurora could still spot the academy behind Mobi Dick which indicated that she had not managed to lead the monster far enough.
“System, tap back in my resources and connect me with Mobi Dick. I want to lead it away even further.”

“That’s Mobi Dick? What is it doing outside of the abyss? Never mind, what can we do now?”
Even Astoria was getting impatient and worried about the monster in front of her. The Mobi Dick was getting more and more enraged by the second.
The huge body of the whale had started to thrash about and the magic stream that was making Mobi Dick was getting out of control.
“For now, all we can do is to try and lead it further ahead in the Rocx Valley. It’s not our domain so we don’t have much control over it.”
For gods and goddesses, a domain was a place under their control where they were birthed. It also marked the place where they were the strongest.
The only way to take over another divinity’s domain was to win the place from them or kill them. Both were next to impossible tasks for most people.
As such, the strongest person in this valley is the goddess of Victory but she had not stepped in to take action yet.
“Is the goddess of this valley not going to step in and do something? I thought she was better than that.”
Astoria’s comment felt thoughtless at first but Aurora could not help but feel like it was a clever trick.
No matter how indifferent a goddess was, they all held pride dear to their heart. The goddess of victory was no different in that regard.
Aurora could feel the goddess’s aura look over the pair in surprised rage. She was taking the bait.
“Hey, do you think if I do a good enough job and kill Mobi Dick, I can take over this place as the new goddess? Maybe even share this place?”
Aurora never thought she would ever say those words out loud. She was not someone who invited danger to herself.
But Aurora didn’t want Astoria to shoulder this task on her own either. Astoria’s nervous aura was already making itself known.
It was surprising to see Astoria put up a brave mask at such a time.
“For now, let’s lead Modi Dick deeper in the territory. I’m sure our dear goddess will not interfere in our progress.”
Aurora knew she was playing a dangerous game.
Astoria might have started this all as a means to challenge the Goddess of Victory’s inner instincts but Aurora knew that her words would spark more than that fire.
The arrival of Mobi Dick was a reminder of how much the abyss controlled the upper world and its happenings.
And GoV was someone who hated the abyss with a passion and was already itching to kill the beast.
“Astoria, I leave leading Mobi Dick up to you. We can share the reward once we’re successful.”
Aurora saw the Mobi Dick start to move toward where Astoria was leading it. The beast seemed to be following its instincts to follow after prey and Aurora gave a small but private smile.
But suddenly, Astoria took a sharp breath before she stumbled. The corrupted magic beneath Mobi Dick pulsed and became even more violent.
If it was not clear before, now Aurora was sure that someone was in control of the Mobi Dick remotely with the help of an immense amount of stored magic.
And no matter how much the two goddesses struggled, they were in a disadvantageous situation due to circumstances.
Aurora had never cursed her situation before.
She had more than enough magic to take care of this situation but her condition was holding her back from being able to do anything.
Astoria had good control but she could not match the other half-gods and goddesses that were likely on the other side.
The tower was making a fool out of them at this point. And Aurora could not even fault them.
It looked like the GoV was not going to interfere after all.

“Are you sure this is alright? Did Lady Minerva give a go-ahead for this?”
The tower master gave a happy hum at the question before shaking his head gently.
“Of course, I asked for permission. I’m not a fool to go against Lady Minerva. Now, focus your magic on Mobi Dick and lead it toward the abandoned lands.”
The half-god looked unconvinced but he did not question the tower master.
None of the four half-gods that Charles had gathered said anything more after he confirmed their beliefs.
“It is for the good of the common people. Our teams are still investigating how Mobi Dick managed to escape the abyss and come to the surface. But we cannot make a mistake and allow it to roam free.”
“Besides, the only people down in the Rocx valley are the outlanders. And the outlanders are half-monsters themselves. They break the natural order of the world and try to harness magic when they are not supposed to.”
“Does it matter if they get hurt if it means saving all the other normal people of the upper surface?”
The half-gods had nothing else to say to that.
It was not like they agreed wholeheartedly with the tower master but they were guilty of the crimes against outlanders and other tribes of the region as well.
Their families had slaved in their account and many had participated in the raids against the ‘so-called’ outlanders.
“You all can leave your worries behind. I will carry the burden of this order for you all. So do not worry and do your part.”
Charles knew he had a silver tongue and he was not afraid of using it. But even he knew it was all possible because he had the support of Lady Minerva behind his back.
One day, he would have all this power for himself without needing to be at anyone’s beck and call.
“S-Sir, we are losing control of the Mobi Dick. It is moving in areas beyond our control.”
Those words knock Charles out of his thoughts. His eyes widened as he watched the Mobi Dick move in the opposite direction he wanted it to go.
“How is this possible?”
“Someone is pouring more magic than us in the path. We can’t help it.”
“But they likely won’t be able to maintain this flow for long.”
Charles felt his temper get better once he heard those words. Unless the other side was a god or a goddess, this much flow of magic would be impossible to maintain.
All they had to do was to wait around and their chance would come soon.
And just as it had been expected, the flow of magic lessened soon enoingh. The Mobi Dick was significantly out of track but nothing that could not be salvaged soon.
“Sir, a new flow joined in. But we can overpower this one if we tried to.”
“Then do it. Aim for the place I am pointing you to. Lady Mei will take care of everything else.”
Of course, Lady Mei will be able to one-shot the Mobi Dick from far away. That was all the permission Lady Minerva had given her.
And Lady Mei was not foolish enough to step into Rocx valley without backup. Even she could not go against the GoV in this domain.
But all Lady Mei needed to do was to shoot Mobi Dick down. Then everything else would be over and the magic would explode.
And then it finally happened – the hitch in Charle’s plan.
“Sir, we lost control. T-The magic, it’s too much for us to take care of. We’re afraid that it’s the GoV who had interfered in our plans.”
Charles felt his head hurt as he heard those words.
His fist made a dent in his arm-rest without much effort and his being leaked anger.
How dare that goddess to come out now? Why was she interfering now of all times when she had been happy to stay away all this time.
“Take control back. Just make Mobi Dick reach near to the dot on the map.”
Forget the plan about control, getting close would have to do now.
