Chapter 215 Invitation

The appalling treatment Jessie received from the Templars ignited Viktor's rage. He was sure that he told her to hide with Eva and Liza, so if Jessie was caught, there was a chance Liza was caught as well.

"Do you think this place belongs to you? What are you doing? Release that woman."

Elena smiled coldly, "We cannot, as we are merely doing our job. Jessie has escaped from us without permission, and we came to bring her back."

Viktor clicked his tongue, that woman was behaving as if she has nothing to do with this situation. A few moments ago, she was looking for the Metal Guardian, and now, she wanted to bring Jessie back. Her real intentions were clear.

"Calm down, Viktor, I'll be fine… I am part of the Templar, I will be fine," Jessie said, trying to calm him down.

Somehow, Jessie's words sounded sincere, unlike how she usually referred to the Templars in derision. That only made Viktor even angrier.

Meanwhile, the damned woman smiled, knowing her plans have succeeded.

"Boss!"

A woman with brilliant red hair, wearing a complete bartender's outfit, entered the VIP room in a hurry. When she saw how Jessie was treated, she narrowed her eyes.

Within seconds, the Shield Maiden's forces, who served as the club's guards, pooled into the room. The Templars sensed the change in situation, and they took their stance, prompting the Shield Maiden to take her stance as well.

The embers of conflict have started to turn into a raging flame.

With the presence of Shield Maiden and Viez here, Viktor was sure he could take care of the 12 Sky Realm Templar knights here. Viez seemed ready to take his orders, as well.

Both Viez and Elena's forces were already staring at each other like they were enemies, and they seemed ready to draw their weapons. If Viktor gives the order, a small war will break right at this moment.

However…

"Calm down, everyone!"

The voice attracted everyone's attention, and the tension in the room started to diminish.

Elena calmly walked in front of Viktor and the Templar knights.

"There will be no blood spilled this night. We only spill the blood of monsters. Cool your head, and sheathe your weapons."

Viktor snorted in disgust. There was no way that woman was unaware she was the cause of this whole mess, and yet, now she is trying to calm the situation. He wanted nothing more than to hit the woman clad in the so-called 'good' Templar robes with a whiskey bottle.

Elena looked at Captain Landin and said, "Captain Landin, can you please unhand Jessie? She looked hurt."

The woman grinned in victory, looked at Captain Landin's eyes, and the latter quickly ordered his underlings to unhand Jessie.

Immediately, they released Jessie, and she stood up, glared at them, and dusted her clothes. Her glare was mostly directed at Elena.

"I want to have a one-on-one talk with Viktor Romanov."

The Templar knights immediately left after Captain Landin agreed to Elena's instructions. He seemed to trust Elena to be able to handle this matter.

However, Viktor's underlings remained in the room. Elena glared at Viez and said, "You too, leave."

"I don't take orders from you," Viez said with a cold stare.

"It's alright, Viez."

Viez seemed reluctant to go along with Viktor's decision, but she said nothing more, and the woman walked out with Jessie wrapped in her arms.

Meanwhile, Jessie's expression looked guilty, as she knew that she helped cause this situation. She shouldn't have walked out from the hiding place and kept hiding with Eva and Liza.

Now, only Elena and Viktor remained in the VIP room.

"Please forgive the transgressions of the Templar Knights, I do not like being rejected, and they reacted out of habit," Elena said, arrogance dripping from her every word.

Not wanting to deal with her, Viktor poured a glass of whiskey and drank it. The buzz helped to calm his thoughts a bit,

"So, you want me to participate in this tournament, even using Jessie as leverage. Tell me, then, what is the actual purpose of this thing?"

Elena smiled, and she decided to tell him the real reason.

"Right now, the Vatican is seeking new members, especially those who were below 25 years old. To seek out those with good potential, we are holding a tournament with massive prizes."

However, she added that those who wants to take part in the tournament has to agree to become part of the Vatican.

With that, everything made sense.

"So, in other words, you are forcing me to participate in the tournament, so you can make me part of the Vatican?"

Elena snapped her fingers, "Of course, we are not forcing you to believe in our faith, we just want you as an ally… Besides, if you ally with us, you can talk to the Pope about freeing Jessie from her punishment."

The woman made the deal sound fair; however, there was still one thing Viktor was worried about – his secret. He has no idea how many people know about it.

Elena smiled and asked, "Is that important? If you become part of the Vatican, we would be allies, and your secret would be safe with us. We are not an evil organization, our main concern were still about saving the world from the apocalypse."

There was no denying that the Vatican were a respected organization. They hold religion in a high regard, and they have held numerous charitable events and donations. In their doctrine, the act of breaking an oath is taboo, especially oaths held under the Nephilim's name. If such oaths were broken, a calamity will befall them. That was what they believed.

Of course, that was not enough for Viktor to believe them, but as of now he has no choice but to accept.

"Fine, then I will participate in the tournament. When will it start?"

Elena gave him a wide grin, which only made him feel disgust, "In three weeks, but it will take a week to reach there."

Viktor stayed silent, but he was a bit relieved, at least, there would be some time for him to tend to matters here.

With that, they came to an agreement, and both left the room. Outside, everyone was waiting, all of them with serious expressions especially Viez and Jessie. The two of them looked so stiff, their face muscles didn't twitch a bit.

"Okay, all of you, the problem has been solved. There is no need for violence."

The Shield Maiden members quickly dispersed, but Jessie remained there, seemingly unconvinced. Only when Viktor assured her everything was fine did she decide to leave. Only Viez remained, as she felt responsible for letting these people in. After all, she prided herself as Viktor's right hand woman.

After Elena got back to her group, they proceeded to whisper to each other. They seem to be in the middle of a serious discussion.

"I have invited the Metal Guardian," Elena sadi.

Captain Landin smiled in satisfaction, "Good job, Elena, the first candidate in this city has been secured. Now, let's move on to the second candidate."

"No, I need to stay here for a few days. I will go to Vatican with them later, there is something I have to make sure of."

Viktor only stared at them. Unfortunately, the blaring music made him unable to hear what they were talking about.

Not long afterwards, the discussion amidst the Templars stopped, and most of them walked out of the bar. However, Elena remained there.

This alerted Viktor, something is amiss here.

Elena shook her head, "They still have something to do. I will be your guest for now until you are ready.

"Oh." Viktor gave a simple reply. It took everything he had not to shout 'blyat' in front of this woman.

With that, the Templars are done with Viktor for now.

The opening of the club proceeded smoothly, and good music kept on playing, filling the patrons with euphoria. However, in contrast to them, Viktor was unable to enjoy the atmosphere at all.
