Chapter 131: The Truth

Feng Jia was stunned when he heard this. “So you’re angry at me, that’s why you didn’t pick up my calls?”

Gu Chu snorted softly.

Although Feng Jia was not there, he was involved. How could she not be upset at him?

Feng Jia picked up the ice water on the table and gently touched it against the half of her face that had been slapped. “Why did you pick up in the end?”

Gu Chu paused for a moment. She moved away and then leaned towards him, “I can’t avoid it forever. Instead of waiting for her to ask if you’re willing to marry Gu Wan and inform me later, I might as well ask you now.”

Does he want her, who has nothing, or Gu Wan, who has 10% of the shares?

Feng Jia shook his head silently. There were some things he did not want to repeat over and over again. He already had the answer in his heart.

He did not respond to her words. Instead, he asked, “Did you just say that Gu Wan wanted to get rid of you when you’re a child? What happened?”

Gu Chu pursed her lips. “I don’t want to talk about it. I’m not in the mood.”

Feng Jia coaxed her, “If you don’t talk about it, how can I avenge you?”

Gu Chu said, “What can you do even if I told you? The person who hit me was my mother. Are you going to hit her back?”

Her face was damp from the tears. Feng Jia took a tissue to wipe it off for her and said in a flat tone, “Why not?”

Gu Chu: “...”

That was not necessary.

It happened more than 20 years ago.

She said slowly, “Gu Wan is four years older than me. She was only eight years old back then. My parents brought us to my grandparents’ house in the capital. That afternoon, she suddenly came over and asked me if I wanted to have ice cream. She said that she wanted to bring me. I was young at that time, so when I heard that, I immediately followed her.”

“We kept changing buses. After we got off the last bus, she took me into a small alley and asked me to squat beside a trash can. She told me not to run around and even said that she would come back to pick me up after. I agreed, and then she left.”

How could a four-year-old kid know how to be on guard, especially to her own sister.

“I waited for her obediently for a long time. The sky was getting dark and she didn’t show up. I started to cry. Later, the residents nearby found me and sent me to the police station and I was brought home.”

Gu Chu’s mouth was dry as she spoke. She picked up another glass of cold water and gulped it down. Her body became cold.

“But when I got home, I realized that the one who was really missing was Gu Wan. My parents, grandparents, and I were all frantic. We searched the entire capital but couldn’t find her. They asked me what happened, but I didn’t know anything. All I knew was that my sister wanted to bring me to buy ice cream.”

However, the truth was that Gu Wan had brought her to a dead end. There were no shops nearby, let alone an ice cream shop.

No one knew why an eight-year-old child would bring a four-year-old child there, so everyone thought that Gu Wan had been abducted by human traffickers while she was looking for ice cream.

Gu Chu laughed. “Now I realized that she probably wanted to throw me away, but she had to pay the price.”

Gu Wan had never liked Gu Chu. Gu Chu was the second child, so her arrival took away her love in the Gu family. In her memory, Gu Wan had always looked at her with an unfriendly gaze. Wasn’t it weird that she suddenly wanted to bring her for ice cream? She had even put her next to the trash can. Wasn’t she trying to throw her away?

But now that Gu Wan had returned, she claimed that she insisted she buy ice cream for her.

Gu Chu felt so wronged.

She thought that telling the truth meant she didn’t have to take the blame anymore. However, others did not care about the truth at all. This made her feel even more bitter.

She was very depressed. She was full of pent-up frustration and had no way to vent it, causing her eyes to redden.

Feng Jia hugged her and put her head against his chest.

Gu Chu asked in a hoarse voice, “Feng Jia, since you’re here, can I have a drink?”

Feng Jia looked at the wall filled with wine bottles. He randomly picked one and poured a glass for her.

After she drank the wine, she began to babble in a daze. Her voice was low and husky.

Feng Jia listened closer and heard a few words. “Don’t, don’t leave me...”

Her mother didn’t want her anymore, so he couldn’t abandon her.

Feng Jia brought Gu Chu back to Jin Yuan Residences. The drunk Gu Chu flipped over and fell into a deep sleep the moment she touched the bed. He looked at her sleeping face, changed his clothes, and left the house.

He said that he would avenge her.

He definitely would.
