Chapter 1422 I Wish..But Nothing Is Enough

Lu Lijun was standing at the end of the lawn that was closer to the river bed. The lawn and huge rocks purposely kept in the border to give it a natural touch and they could also be used as a sitting means if someone wants to.

Other than the balcony of his room, It was one of Lu Lijun's favourite places in this home whenever he wanted to be alone and something troubled him deeply.

The young guy who had stopped smoking for the past few days because of someone who could not handle it, today once again wished to drown himself in the smoke where all of his worries wished to disappear with that smoke.

Lu Feng who finished his work and took care of his business back in the city S, saw his brother sitting quietly and smoking as he looked dazed while standing taking support of the rock, his one hand busy smoking while the other tucked in his pants pocket.

He went towards his brother and sat on the rock next to him, "Bad habits, huh?"

Lu Lijun let out a puff of smoke calmly and replied, "When good habits are away from you, bad habits are meant to get you."

Lu Feng smiled lightly and continued sitting there as he asked his brother for a cigarette, "Can I have one?"

Lu Lijun pulled out a pack of cigarettes and a lighter from his pocket and offered it to his brother.

"After so long," Lu Feng said as he lit up the cigarette.

"Must be a week long," Lu Lijun commented.

Lu Feng looked at him, "Did you see me smoking in years?"

"I didn't but I bet you still smoke and here you just don't smoke because of Yuyan," Lu Lijun replied.

Lu Feng smiled, "Having a smart brother can be a pain in the ass. Can't even hide anything."

"You can ask me to join you instead," Lu Lijun countered.

"Accompanied for smoking? Hmm!... We smoke because we are lonely and alone struggling with chaos in mind. When you have company, is there a need to smoke?"

"I wish there was no need to smoke at all," Lu Lijun said, his meaning was clear that his brother understood.

"Everything will be fine soon. You are doing good," Lu Feng assured.

After a long silence, Lu Lijun spoke, "I wish there was a way I could make her forget every pain she had felt…. I wish I could fix everything for her…. I wish her to always be happy and smiling. I wish tears to never appear in her eyes… I wish she only knew how to be happy and never know what pain feels like… I wish…I wish for so many things but…There is always something that is not enough ...."

"When you feel pain, only then you know what it means to be happy. They can never be separated from each other. All you can do is to give her all the happiness that the pain she felt would feel nothing in front of it."

Lu Lijun nodded lightly while looking ahead in a daze, "I am trying to."

"You sent Jiang Yang to her," Lu Feng spoke.

Lu Lijun nodded.

"Why?" Lu Feng asked, "Shouldn't you be with her and be her strength?"

"I'll go to her once I fix at least a little of her pain," Lu Lijun answered.

Lu Feng understood, "Tomorrow, Jiang Yang will do what you have asked him to."

Lu Lijun nodded, "I hope it will help."

The next morning Jiang Yuyan woke up and found her brother sitting on the couch and smiled at her, "Good morning, little Princess."

It reminded her of those old days when he used to be by her side every night. She suddenly felt like she was that young girl who needed her brother for everything."

She smiled back, "Morning, brother," and then looked around. She realized Lu Lijun was not there.

"He slept in my room," Jiang Yang replied to her unspoken question. "You woke up late. Get ready and come downstairs for breakfast."

Jiang Yuyan nodded and went to the bathroom while Jiang Yang went downstairs.

When she left the room to go for breakfast, her eyes were ready to search for the certain someone who didn't get to talk properly after that night.

She saw him in the drawing room while talking on the phone and others were talking to each other. Xiao Min and Noah were discussing the office thing while Jiang Yang and Lu Feng were talking about his departure in the night.

While going down the stairs, her eyes were stuck on that handsome guy ready in the suit as he had to go to the office today. While talking on the phone, he looked unusually calm and serious. He always looked nice whenever he was busy with his work and the way he instructed everyone, holding his authority like a leader, he looked out of the world. No more that kid from the past but a grown up handsome man who held the power in his hand.

While talking on the phone, Lu Lijun noticed her and he controlled his expression. The frown lines on his forehead disappeared and he looked calmer.

Just as she reached, he hung up the call, "Good morning."

"Morning," she replied calmly but inside she was happy that he talked with her.

They went for breakfast. While eating, Lu Lijun spoke "We three are going to the office. You stay home and rest."

"But..I…"

Lu Lijun looked at her and she swallowed her words to obey what he said, "Okay!"

She didn't have the courage to go against him.

Just then Jiang Yang spoke, "Okay, she can not work but she can go out with me. We will have our brother-sister time."

Jiang Yuyan looked at Lu Lijun to know what he would say and heard him say, "Fine."

Jiang Yang looked at his sister happily who smiled at him but her mind was stuck on Lu Lijun.

"When will you return from the office?" she asked hesitantly. She had never asked him like this.

"I will try to return early," he said and then looked at her, "Is there anything you want?"

"I...I wanted to talk..." she replied, still feeling hesitant.

"Hmm, I will be back soon," he assured.
