Chapter 151 Alister's Offer To Jake
With Alister's constant persuasion, even Jake was starting to be tempted by his offer.
In the end, Jake shook his head.
"I don't want to use such a villainous method to win Ellie's heart. If I can't even win her heart using a normal method, then I will fail as a man!"
Hearing Jake's refusal, Alister sneered, 'You aren't even a man and just a young boy.'
However, Alister knew that Jake wasn't finished with his words yet so he waited for Jake's final decision.
With resolute eyes, Jake spoke out with conviction, "Even if I won't use such a vile method to win Ellie's heart, it doesn't hurt to accept your offer. Only by becoming powerful, I can protect Ellie!"
"I accept your offer! However, my bottom line is that Ellie must not be harmed due to your commands. Aside from that, even if you ordered me to destroy the human race or betray the human race, I won't mind as long as Ellie isn't affected."
In response to Jake's impudence in negotiating terms with him, Alister just shrugged, "I don't know why the heck you are so obsessed with that Ellie girl. Just know that I can replace you anytime so you must be loyal and obey all my commands so that you can still be of use."
"And since you will become my subordinate, I don't mind doing you a favor in not commanding you to kill that Ellie girl."
'And besides, it's a lot easier to control you if that Ellie girl is alive. Of course, I can still make use of her if I planned out her death that would let you walk on the path of revenge while becoming even more loyal to me due to the thirst for power that can achieve your vengeance.'
Although Alister has that thought, he still has his own bottom line and will never hurt his loyal subordinates.
Unless it was really needed for his plans, he didn't have any plans of taking action against his subordinates' loved ones. Furthermore, keeping them alive could be used as a hostage against his subordinates.
In Bruce's case, Bruce was loyal to him since Bruce thought of this opportunity as starting a new life and he no longer had any lingering attachments in this world.
As for Jake's case, Jake wanted to become powerful in order to win Ellie's heart a lot more conveniently.

'For growth-type subordinates that I planned to recycle infinitely like Yun Ren, Bruce, and Jake, I didn't want to deprive them of their true independence and wisdom which would waste their full potential.'
'Anyways, it's impossible for my subordinates to be stronger than me since I will not allow it. As long as my subordinates are weaker than me, then even if they ever have rebellious thoughts, it will be easy to deprive them of their power since I am the one who bestowed that power to them in the first place.'
Alister's purpose of having subordinates was to let them deal with the miscellaneous things that he didn't want to bother doing.
At most, they will be used to deal with the enemies' cannon fodders.
However, when it came to dealing with the true boss or mastermind, Alister didn't pin any hopes on his subordinates.
His cautiousness doesn't allow him to place that much trust in his subordinates so he would only let them be weaker than him but can never be stronger than him.

With the confidence that he could just deprive Jake of his power if Jake ever betrayed him, Alister decided to take a "risk" and thought of this as an investment.
With Bruce as Jake's guardian as well as his mentor, his duo of subordinates will be a force to be reckoned with in this Transcendent World.
"Let me ask you again, boy. Are you truly willing to swear your loyalty to me and heed my every command aside from harming that Ellie girl in exchange for power?"
"If you swore your loyalty to me, my commands will likely let you be branded as a traitor of the human race."
Not wanting to take advantage of Jake that much, Alister still clarified and reminded Jake of the challenges after becoming his subordinate.
Although he already knew of Jake's name from reading his memories that was enough just to obtain his identity, Alister didn't mention Jake's name since Jake hadn't introduced himself yet and Alister didn't have any plans of exposing his skills that much.
Even those from the Transcendent Association didn't know of his absolute mind superpower and only knew about his wind superpower. Alister planned to let it remain that way since this superpower was one of his trump cards.
He would only expose it if he was left with no choice but to do so.
While Alister extended his offer to Jake once again after clarifying it to Jake, Jake finally replied.
