Chapter 149 Are You Interested In Obtaining Power?
With a slash of his holy sword, Bruce generated a holy energy sword wave attack that obliterated the orcs and goblins in front of him.
Goblins were only 2nd-level monsters while orcs were 3rd-level monsters. For a Transcendent Emperor like Bruce, fighting those monsters was overkill. It was like using a nuclear bomb to kill an ant.
Whenever new batches of orcs and goblins came out of the dimensional gate, Bruce repeatedly attacked them with his holy energy sword wave.
With the swordsmanship passed down to him by Alister, Bruce was already a grandmaster swordsman. He could easily kill the orcs and goblins with just his thoughts alone but he wanted to test the power of his star artifact.
Bruce realized that the power bestowed to him by Alister was out of this world, literally. The power system used in his star artifact and the energy which was known as astral energy were too foreign. It defied the common sense behind a transcendent's power.
Mana was derived from the energy of nature as well as the energy that was being spilled from the dimensional gate. But in the case of astral energy, it was an energy derived from the celestial bodies in the sky.
It was worth noting that in the nighttime when the stars shone the brightest, it was the time when a star master was the strongest.
That didn't mean that star masters would become weaker in the day. It only meant that star masters would become stronger at nighttime.
Unlike star masters, transcendents didn't have that benefit which made Bruce realize that not only was the star cultivation power system a foreign power unknown to this world, it was also a power that was superior to the transcendent power system.
There was even another power system in his body which granted him a superpower. It was quite similar to the transcendent power system but instead of using mana, it relied on viral energy and viral energy could be created with the zombie virus in his body.
Even if a virus was planted in his body, Bruce was unfazed by it since he trusted that a kind young man like Alister wouldn't harm him. Moreover, the zombie virus had granted him a superpower yet he didn't become a zombie so it only meant that it was a good thing for him.
From those two foreign power systems, Bruce wasn't dumb enough to not realize that Alister wasn't from this world. Or even if Alister was from this world, he was someone capable of traversing other worlds.
But even with that realization, Bruce's loyalty didn't waver and he didn't care whether Alister was from this world or not. What mattered to him was that Alister was a lord worth serving under.
The proof of that was when compared to other high-level transcendents who didn't bother to save an old man like him or that young boy, Alister bothered to save them.
Most high-level transcendents would just ignore ordinary people like them and focus more on subjugating the monsters that came out of the dimensional gate.
After all, most transcendents felt more obligated to eliminate the otherworld monsters that came out of the dimensional gate compared to saving humanity.
'Since Lord Alister has saved me and bestowed me with this power, I will do my best to serve him and use this power for his noble cause!'
With that thought in mind, Bruce started a killing spree as he slaughtered all of the orcs and goblins that came out of the dimensional gate.
Even with his old body that seemed fragile due to the long passage of time that withered it, Bruce was full of energy and vigor that didn't match his physical age.
Nevertheless, Bruce got the job done excellently as he started spawn killing the orcs and goblins, camping on the dimensional gate, and beheading those orcs and goblins as soon as they stepped out of the dimensional gate.
The orcs and goblins seemed to be infinite. A mountain of corpses was already built using the dead bodies of the orcs and goblins yet the orcs and goblins kept on coming out of the dimensional gate.
Alister didn't care much about that and left that problem to Bruce. It was the perks of having a subordinate since the miscellaneous tasks could be passed onto his subordinate.
While Alister was admiring the power displayed by Bruce and was already planning for the future when he had more subordinates under his command, he noticed that the young boy near him had already woke up and was no longer unconscious.
The young boy had suffered from comatose but after Alister had healed the young boy, the young boy was no longer in a comatose state since Alister healed the young boy's mind and mental state with his absolute mind superpower as well.
"I can't die yet! I still haven't kissed Ellie yet!"
As soon as the young boy woke up, he exclaimed with lingering attachments to this world.
"Simp, what a simp!"
Alister shook his head and mocked the young boy.
As if he was used to hearing that, the young boy retorted, "I'm not a simp! I am just a loyal young man whose love hasn't been reciprocated yet!"
"Boy, I didn't ask for the definition of your kind.", With that reply, Alister shook his head in disappointment.
When the young boy saw Alister's eyes that looked at him with pity, the young boy felt insulted and degraded.
However, when he was about to retort again, he realized that his body was back in good shape as if he was reborn anew!
"Wait! Wasn't I stomped to death by those bastards!?"
"How come my body is back to normal and it's even healthier than before!?"
With surprise and astonishment present in his eyes, the young boy patted his body and was shocked to find out that there were no injuries to his body.
If not for the blood in his clothes, the young boy would have thought that it was all a dream.
"I saved you but you don't have to repay me. However, are you interested in obtaining power?"
