In the vast forest that lay beyond them, vast enough that there was no end even to the horizon, they could see heads pop out in random places of the forest.
Random long necks, necks that were too familiar for everyone to see. This was iconic. Everyone knew which kind of monster this was.
This was a dinosaur without a doubt. A Brachiosaurus. One of the few dinosaurs known to be herbivores.
But that was beside the point. The point being, dinosaurs existed. And Jake was just shocked still, his mouth as agape as Myriad Arrows' was.
"Did you know? This is the first time that I saw you shocked like this." Myriad Arrows said from the side.
But this comment was not important enough to cause Jake to turn his head. The was just too much. There were dinosaurs in this world! That was a truth that he just couldn't accept.
If he knew of this truth in the last time, in the last life, he would be here, in this spot, looking at the species that was supposed to be extinct years ago.
And what was special, was that it wasn't just any VRMMORPG that implemented this. It was World Online.
The only game in the world that could make the experience feel like it was reality. And Jake certainly felt like it. He could feel the breeze on his face, and he could see these dinosaurs as if they really existed in the real world.
"I am shocked. To think that Nova would take a step this far. To think that they would make a secret realm with dinosaurs in it. And they didn't tell anyone on that." Jake murmured.
"Wow. This really is someplace that everyone should visit. Secret Realm or not, imagine seeing dinosaurs. The only time that I had seen them was in the museum." Myriad Arrows said with wonder.
Jake raised an eyebrow that quickly disappeared.
" Right. He is actually rich enough to go to the library and come back uncontaminated. They must have libraries within the star districts, or wherever he lives." Jake thought to himself.
He didn't concern himself with what just transpired. Because something bigger was happening.
There were few things that could surprise Jake, because he saw them already a first time. But this was a first for him. A first that he didn't expect.
"I thought that our luck was terrible, but I guess that the one thing that we can take from this secret realm is that we actually saw dinosaurs." Jake said, sighing.
"I wonder. Will we ever be able to defeat one?" Myriad Arrows chuckled just thinking of the possibility.
It was within the realm of possibility. But for a player to defeat a dinosaur, a monster of that size and clearly having insane stats, he would need to be a Tier four or Tier five character, with hundreds of levels and the best equipment.
Out of all of these requirements, Jake and Myriad Arrows met only one of them. Well, Jake met one of them, which was the equipment part.
But even that wasn't going to help him as much as it should. He wants going to suddenly gain the ability to pop dinosaur heads.
They were too strong for him to try to battle. He knew that. Just looking at a Brachiosaurus, he knew that there was no way that he would be able to defeat that huge thing right now.
"But do you know what we could do?" Jake suddenly paused for a second.
"What are you cooking up?" Myriad Arrows turned to look at Jake. He had been with this person long enough to know that whenever he gave a nice pause, he was thinking of something psychotic that was going to get them killed.
"Why don't we start working to help the guild regardless. If I am not wrong, we are short of a good helper for the guild. We need good defense to prepare for the Aries attack that will only come sooner or later." Jake said.
"You can find something to help with that here? In this forest? I am aware that only forest items will drop here even after you kill monsters. And, like you said, can we even defeat these dinosaurs? You were right. This secret realm is impossible to beat." Myriad Arrows sighed and said.
"I am not going to ask you to attack the dinosaurs. That would be stupid. Once we get the ago of a dinosaur, then what? To defeat a bigger monster than us, we will need a whole party unless it is easy to deal with.
And do you think that dinosaurs are easy to deal with?" Jake shook his head, sighing.
"But what we can do, actually, is target the resources that are just lying around." Jake said.
"Secret realms have treasures just lying around?" Myriad Arrows was pleasantly confused. He didn't think that World Online would have a mode where treasures were just kept in the open to be taken by just about anyone
And he was absolutely right, World Online wasn't a game like that. Treasures had to be earnt.
But what was a treasure though, that was something that the brain had to understand. The mind had to decide whether something was a treasure or not.
"We will be stealing this time. Stealing from the dinosaurs." Jake smiled.
He rubbed his hands just thinking about it.
"What are you high on today? You want to steal from the dinosaurs? And what the hell do they even have that can possibly want you to risk your life and your equipment for?" Myriad Arrows raged.
He was still trying his best to save his dear bow that he could lose if he wasn't careful.
"Ah! There are bigger things than just equipment and money, Myriad Arrows. And one of them is a nice little thing that I saw in an auction from the Flying Pavilion. It is called pets. So then, why don't we try and catch ourselves a few for the guild?" Jake smiled.
