Chapter 372 - The Black Grim Smoke

The three warthogs' corpses disappeared.
After killing them, Isaac walked to their digging ground. The grass ground was turned over, and it looked like they were trying to dig something valuable up.
He strapped his gun on his back and used his fingers to dig deeper into the ground. Soon, his fingertips collided with something metallic.
After moving the dirt out of the way, he could see a metal box that seemed to be rusting. Then, he took it out, and it felt surprisingly light.
There didn't seem to be a lock to open it. Isaac tried to freeze it over. Maybe that would allow it to be opened. However, after the thin layer of ice was vaporized, the box looked similar.
Then, Isaac threw it into his inventory and decided to take a good look at it later. Afterward, he resumed walking deeper into the forest.
However, at that moment, something began crawling closer to him. Isaac stopped and frowned.
In the distance, a grim black smoke destroyed everything on his path. The flower patches dried up, and trees aged rapidly.
The strands of grass turned into ashes, and the leaves were burnt to crisps.
Isaac pulled out his gun and pointed it at the black smoke. However, it didn't seem to be a living being, and he noticed it quickly.
He decided to leave for now. Then, after turning around and taking his first step, something flew out of the smoke and wrapped around his legs.
''What?'' Isaac's heart pounded in anxiousness, and he saw black-colored vines wrapping tightly around his legs. Then, the vines swept him out of his feet and dragged him to smoke.
Unluckily, he lost his grip on his gun and dropped it. His eyes shook in worry, and soon, he was sucked inside the black smoke.
The smoke began cramming inside his mouth and nostrils. The eyes weren't spared either, and his whole face was shrouded in a black goo-like substance.
''Aahh!'' He tried to scream out, but they were muffled.

Isaac's eyes shook, but then another notification emerged.
[Mythical Legacy's Defense Against Corruption… Activated!]
Soon, the smoke was sucked out of his body. At first, the vine-like smoke left his mouth, and tiny smoke trails left his nostrils.
Then, the black goo disappeared, and his eyes returned to normal.
Isaac quickly grabbed a rock from his leather pouch and smashed it into the vines. It worked because the vines were loosened enough for him to rip them apart.
Then, he jumped to his two feet and looked around him anxiously. Everything was dark and smoky.
There was a feeling of coldness enveloping him, and he felt like he was being submerged in viscous water where he could barely breathe.
Then, from the depths of the smoke, several shadowy figures appeared with smoking swords.
The swords looked rather unusual. It looked like the black smoke but in the form of a sword.
Each step of theirs corrupted the environment even more. The grass died rapidly, and the flying birds above the trees managed to let out a final breath of theirs before dying
'They are the reason for the black smoke!' Isaac thought and moved his hands behind his back. But then, remembered that he had dropped his gun and that he was weaponless!
The shadowy figures marched forward. The smoke that oozed out of their bodies soon reached Isaac, and he was instantly paralyzed.
Thud!
He fell to the smoky ground and saw the shadowy figures circling around him. Then, their swords disappeared, and they grabbed him from his clothing before dragging him deeper into the forest.
'Fuck… What should I do? Think, think!' Isaac closed his eyes, and his brilliant mind began running on overdrive. Then, he opened his eyes with cold air leaving his nostrils and mouth.
[Icy Shot Used!]
Crackle!
Whoosh!
The thick layer of ice appeared out of nowhere, and it began spreading in the environment. It began clashing with the black smoky and was quickly defeated.
However, the ice managed to shroud the shadowy figures in a cocoon of ice for a split second before they managed to break through.
That gave enough freedom for Isaac to jump into his feet and begin running away. The shadowy figures turned their heads around 180 degrees, and swords soon appeared in their arms.
Then, they chased after Isaac. However, he had already managed to reach the edge of the smoke area. Soon, his body phased through the thick layer of smoke, and he was out of the weird mist.
Isaac didn't stop running and soon reached the place of his weapon. He grabbed his gun and continued running until he was out of the forest.
He slumped down on the ground and wiped his cold sweat, ''Damn… This place is much more dangerous than I thought it would be.''
After looking back at the forest, a storm was brewing in the distance. The black smoke soon disappeared and left a destroyed portion of the forest behind.
He took another deep look into the forest before returning to the village. Soon, he was back in the inn, and he returned to his rented room.
After twisting the key in the keyhole, the door opened with a creak, and a dilapidated room entered his view. He made the room his temporary spawn spot and then logged out.

After waking up, Isaac took off his headgear and saw the skinsuit being sucked inside it. Then, he placed it back in the box and hid it inside the wardrobe.
Then, he went to his desk and took out his notebook. He began writing down what he did today and reserved the whole page for the weird black smoke.
After writing everything down, he began thinking about how to pass the forest successfully.
The first thing that he thought was about his lack of level.
Then, he nodded and began writing down.
''I need to increase my level… Colosseum should be a good place, especially to get fast level and rewards.''
