Chapter 278 - Isaac's Luck.

After witnessing the handsome Knight collapsing face-first into the dirt, the audience showed a wide range of emotions. The whole scene had happened as if it were in slow motion.

The ones who'd grown fond of the Knight, particularly the ladies, frowned in disappointment at his loss.

A large portion of the children stared down at Wraith with their hearts pumping excitedly! How awesome!

The actions he'd displayed were something straight out of a fairytale!

However, in this fairytale, it wasn't the prince who won! It was the man who'd been called out as an enemy!

Members of Wraithless glared out through the steel bars, staring daggers at Isaac's head. This victory didn't sit well with them.

Behind the other members, TomValeo had run back to the arena, and he was staring out with a look of disbelief on his face.

"How... How the hell did he win?!"

Back in the player lounge, the members of Black Arrow were cheering! At first, their voices were the only ones that could be heard.

That didn't hold true for long.

While the other spectators were speechless, Marvin and his group suddenly burst out in a loud fit of laughter!

Their laughter earned raised eyebrows and irritated looks from the men and women in their surroundings.

''Why are you laughing?!'' One of the Players snapped and screamed at the five men.

Like many others, he had placed a sizeable bet on the Knight's victory because it was supposed to be an easy win. Isaac was part of Marksman class.

He should have been outclassed in every way in close-quarter combat!

KnightOfHoliness had every advantage possible in this situation!

The fact that the Knight had victory in the palm of his hands did nothing but rub salt in the wound! Victory was in his grasp! But it just filtered through his fingers like fine sand in the end.

This only served to make the betting crowd furious.

The loud cheering from the members of Black Arrow already pissed them off... though that group was too powerful for them to vent their frustrations on.

This group of nobodies, however...

These bastards decided to laugh so loudly right next to them?! They didn't even take into account the loser's feelings? How dare they?!

''Haaa?!'' Marvin glared at the Player who deigned to shout at him.

His friends, Lionel, Niko, Ins, and Derek, raised their chins and looked down on the Player mockingly.

The Player paled and shakily sat back down while the glares of the five Players bore down on him. The pressure they gave off was insane!

'Where the hell did these delinquents come from?!' He screamed internally.

Nearby Players frowned at them. However, they averted their gazes when Marvin and the others shifted their eyes toward them.

In the arena, Isaac strapped the gun to his back and watched as KnightOfHoliness's body turned into light particles.

The floating light blue pixels covered his body before the corpse disappeared entirely.

The beautiful Gladiator rushed forward with hurried steps from the large Colosseum doors. A stunning smile showed on her face, but it looked different from the one that she'd worn before.

The woman usually smiled because it was a part of the job. Now...

She was smiling because she genuinely wanted to. And it caused her to shine in a way that she never had before!

The closer she got to Isaac, the more the beautiful woman glowed. Even so, as she neared the victor, she started to slow her steps.

The audience didn't miss this, and they certainly noticed when the Gladiator stopped a whole five meters from the white-haired man.

They didn't blame her. This man was terrifying! No one had gotten over the horrifying scene from just a few minutes prior!

None of it made any sense! How the hell could someone live without their head?!

Logic didn't seem to apply to the white-haired youth standing in the center of the stadium.

Unbeknownst to those watching, the Gladiator wasn't afraid...

It was just taking everything she had not to prostrate herself in front of this God-like man before her! If she wasn't forcing herself, she would have already kowtowed to the man and begged to be his servant!

However, that would have had dire consequences. It was common knowledge that the citizens of Stronglord were only allowed to kowtow before the Gods and the Emperor.

''E-Excuse me!'' Her cheeks flushed, and she became even more embarrassed after hearing herself stutter.

Isaac touched his throat and coughed lightly to ensure that he could still breathe and speak.

'That was terrifying! What the hell?! My head actually flew off!!' He ran his hand across his throat, making sure that everything was attached.

That was the most horrifying experience of his entire life!

He'd watched the sharpened blade tear through his neck as if it were moving in slow motion. His vision swam, and the world spun multiple times before he felt his head slam into something!

Next, he could see tens of texts filling his vision as a warm liquid covered his neck and face. It wasn't until moments later that he realized his head had been severed, and he was feeling and tasting the blood running from his throat.

''Ahem…'' He coughed lightly. Once he was sure that his throat was working, he turned his gaze on the beautiful woman who stood before him.

She felt the power in his gaze. It loomed over her like a storm over a peaceful meadow.

Her eyes fell on his, and she felt them cut through her very being. His beautiful, flawless face caused her to blush even further.

''Yes?'' Isaac asked the woman. He removed his hand from the back of his neck and tried to act casual, not wanting the spectators to think that he was just as freaked out as they were.

He found that when he ran his eyes over the woman, his gaze coming to rest on hers, the woman flinched and took a step back.

He smiled apologetically. He couldn't imagine how his performance must have looked.

'Well... I know that it couldn't have been delightful to watch, but it wasn't that bad... was it?' He rubbed his hand around his neck again, wondering if there was a big scar where his head had been severed.

"A-Ah... Umm... I-I," The woman continued to stutter, unsure of what to say to this God that stood before her.

Her embarrassment grew, and she knew that she needed to do something. How would he look at her if she couldn't even speak with him?!

''W-Wheel of Victory!'' She managed to cry out, and with a swipe of her hand, a sizeable holographic wheel appeared in the very center of the arena.

The Colosseum fell silent.

Even though everyone's thoughts were wavering on how they felt about the match, this part was even more exciting! The Wheel of Victory!

The spectators relished watching this wheel being spun even more than they enjoyed spectating the matches! It was like a game!

Even after such a heated battle, this white-haired young man could walk away with a trove of treasure... or absolutely nothing!

What would be the fate of this strange young man?

Isaac walked up to the floating wheel, and he couldn't help but lament that the heavenly beauty took a step back with every step he moved forward.

With a wry smile, he placed his hand on the side of the holographic wheel. He was stunned by the strange feeling of the object.

It was like he was touching nothing at all, yet at the same time... he could feel that it was solid. What was this odd creation?

Others who spun the wheel before him had put all their strength into spinning the massive wheel. On the other hand, Isaac only casually swiped at it, causing the wheel to rotate at a somewhat slower speed.

There were multiple colors on the massive wheel. Each was laid out like a pie chart, some being much larger while others were very thin.

All of the colors were bright, and it was easy for even the audience sitting further away to monitor the spinning colors and the arrow on top.

After spinning the wheel, Isaac casually stepped back and moved to the center so that he could get a look at the strange prize selector. The wheel spun, and the arrow on top pointed to a myriad of colors!

Brown…

White…

Red…

Pink…

Blue…

The colors passed by, but the wheel wasn't spinning very fast. Isaac, the Gladiator, and the audience could all clearly see that the wheel wouldn't turn for a prolonged amount of time.

The invisible gears on the strange contraption slowed to a crawl and eventually stopped. Gasps could be heard from those in the crowd.

The Gladiator stepped forward to see the results, and as she did, she stumbled back once more. She couldn't believe what she was seeing!

''No… Way…'' Her captivating eyes turned to Isaac, and her body trembled. She couldn't believe that a young man like this could exist.

He was beautiful, powerful, regal, and now... this man was even lucky! And not even slightly fortunate, but insanely so!

Not only did the youth receive a fantastic prize, but the wheel had stopped on the tiniest sliver available on the Wheel of Victory!

The little bit of clarity that remained in the Gladiator's eyes had disappeared. Her mind had shut down. She was completely obsessed!

''Gold!''

The woman cried out to the crowd, pointing toward the wheel that had completely stopped moving. Isaac glanced at the holographic screen and saw that it currently only showed a single color.

Gold.
