Chapter 1452: Wind Severing Sword

Five minutes passed by very quickly. Some distance away from us, Breeze and Rain, Candlelight Shadow, Warsky, Vienna’s Sorrow and more were waiting for the next system announcement as well. The reason we weren’t punching each other’s faces in was because Lin Na’s final attack had one-shot over 95% of the players in Sainthelm Ruins. Practically every guild was low on manpower right now, not to mention that there were no bosses left to contest anyway. Waiting for the system announcement was clearly the best choice here.

I checked the patch contribution points ranking again. I was still the champion, and my contribution points were almost twice of the runner-up. All things considered, I should be rewarded something extra for my efforts.

Right?

Like really. Surely the system will recognize my achievement and reward me something else besides the MVP reward.

RIGHT?!

……

Finally, the system announcement rang and dispatched everyone their rewards—

Ding~!

System Announcement: Congratulations to all players for successfully completing the March of Chaos event!

Player "Broken Halberd Sinks Into Sand" (China) is the champion and MVP with 11,266,470 points, and their reward is "Wind Severing Sword" (Twelve Divine Armaments, Outstanding★★★★★★★★★), Level +5, Luck +5, and Reputation +1,000,000. Moreover, they are granted an additional reward because they have successfully accumulated over 10 million points in this event! Finally, all player contribution points have been converted into the appropriate amount of experience!

……

I received another system notice after the system announcement. It informed me that my Ancient Divine Dragon had finally reached Level 200 and entered the Divine Awakening stage!

It was still not as delightful a news as my weapon’s evolution into the Xuanyuan Sword, however. The Chill of the Nine Provinces was powerful, but I had a feeling that it would’ve been insufficient to overcome the trials of the Purgatory. The king of the Twelve Divine Armaments, the Xuanyuan Sword though? That was a completely different story!

Everyone was busy checking their reward and basking in the happiness of success, and I was no exception. I raised my new Xuanyuan Sword and admired it for a moment. Not only had it taken on a more righteous appearance, its stats had improved by leaps and bounds as well—

Introduction: The Xuanyuan Sword is the legendary Sword of the Sacred Way used to create the world during the Era of Gods. One side of the blade has celestial objects engraved onto it, and the other side, nature. One side of the grip has the art of farming written on it, and the other, the strategy to unite the four seas. After the Chill of the Nine Provinces inherited the Xuanyuan Sword’s divine power, the weapon also gained the power to rule over life and death. Used wisely, and it will bring happiness to the world. Used recklessly, it will cause war, death and destruction.

Level Requirement: 280[3]

Reputation Requirement: 4,000,000

……

God damn, this is absolutely crazy! Its Attack had jumped all the way to 40k, which was way higher than the other of the Twelve Divine Armaments. Excluding Tactics, it also gave nearly 5,000 points to each stat. Its Attack boost passive had jumped to 375%, and finally the percentage chance to deal 7 times more damage than normal had jumped from 5% to 15%. This was easily one of the most valuable improvements I had gotten from this evolution. Assuming that I executed a six-hit Burning Blade Slash + War Crush combo, I could be almost certain to trigger the passive at least once. Who could possibly survive that?

Besides that, the effects of Life and Death skill of the Xuanyuan Art had been increased from 50% to 70%. That was amazing as well.

Of course, everything I mentioned above still wasn’t the best improvement I had gotten from the evolution. The best improvement was my lifesteal value jumping from 20% to 50%! It could now give the Heaven Suppressing Necklace a run for its money, and it didn’t take up an equipment slot because it was part of the weapon’s passive! It was just amazing!

Most importantly, the Xuanyuan Sword could still evolve one more time! I couldn’t even imagine how strong it would become when that happened! (Author’s Note: Please don’t compare this with the final weapons stats at Zongheng. I can give the Xuanyuan Sword’s 100 million Attack or even 1 billion Attack, sure, but that won’t make a good story now, will it?)

……

After I was done admiring the Xuanyuan Sword, I checked the windy sword sitting quietly inside my bag next. It was the Wind Severing Sword. Although it was placed last among the Twelve Divine Armaments, it was by no means a weak weapon!

I pulled out the Wind Severing Sword while still gripping the Xuanyuan Sword. An indescribable sense of pride filled my heart as I held both weapons in my hands. Who should I give the Wind Severing Sword to, I wonder?

Before that, I should check out its stats. The moment I brought up the Wind Severing Sword’s stat screen, everyone let out a cry of astonishment—

Property: Evolvable (1 more evolution available)

Introduction: The Wind Severing Sword is one of the Twelve Divine Armaments. In ancient times, when the laws of heaven were in shambles, the Wind God Roman and the War God Ares joined hands to battle against the devils. Unfortunately, they didn’t survive when Heaven Domain was lost, and the gods perished in battle. For countless years, Roman’s remains refused to erode until it was scattered by a vile beast. However, one of his backbones survived the trampling, and it became a legendary weapon later on. Legend says that the wielder of the Wind Severing Sword can control the weather itself and become the ruler of all nature.

Level Requirement: 225

Reputation Requirement: 1,500,000

……

"Oh wow, that Thundercloud Storm is pretty good…" Gui Guzi said while salivating.

I nodded. "It’s okay…"

Lian Xin chuckled. "Your Chill of the Nine Provinces has evolved into the Xuanyuan Sword, so you obviously don’t need it. Who would you like to give the sword to, Lu Chen?"

However, Beiming Xue immediately rejected the idea. "No way! Big bro had to battle heaven and earth themselves to get this MVP reward. It makes no sense for him to just give it away, no matter who they are. Even if he can accept this, I can’t! It needs to be an equivalent exchange or nothing at all!"

I smiled and put an arm on Beiming Xue’s shoulder. "Beiming cares so much about me, I can only heed her suggestion. So? Who wants the Wind Severing Sword? It’s first come first serve, so throw me your offers before it’s too late!"

Gui Guzi shook his head. "I’ll pass. I already have the Ghostblade Halberd, and it’s not good to be too greedy…"

Li Chengfeng rubbed his palms together. "Hehe, is 100k RMB okay with you?"

Stranger of Three Lifetimes teased him. "Have some shame, man! I offer 1 million RMB!"

Eyes Like Water rolled her eyes. "Like you’re any better. I offer 2 million RMB!"

He Yi giggled happily. "Don’t stop upping the bid, people! Make our Lu Chen rich!"

……

It was at this moment Lin Yixin took out a blood-red cloak from her bag and said, "Can I trade this plus a million RMB for the Wind Severing Sword please, Little Cheat? I want it…"

She said it in such a pitiable manner that even the others couldn’t help but feel moved by it. Of course, even that was nothing compared to the item she offered to trade me for the Wind Severing Sword, the Cloak of Divine Fervor itself. Li Chengfeng slapped his thigh and said, "Goddammit, how can we possibly beat that? You win, Beauty Lin. I forfeit…"

Lin Yixin waved a hand across the cloak and brought up its stat screen. Everyone gasped, and my temptation to trade suddenly grew ten times stronger—

Cloak of Divine Fervor (Seventy-two Ghost Armaments, Outstanding★★★★★★★★★)

Defense: 17,500

Magic Resist: 15,000

Strength: +3,200

Stamina: +3,150

Agility: +3,000

Intelligence: +2,950

Tactics: +300

Passive: Increases user’s Defense and Magic Resist by 75%

Passive: Increases user's max HP by 270,000

Ghost Armament: Fervent Soul Protection. Damage received is decreased by 50%. Cannot be stacked.

Outstanding Property: Divine Fervor. Increases user’s movement speed by 115%, and attack speed by 90%. Moreover, it increases HP regeneration rate by 50%.

Level Requirement: 250

Reputation Requirement: 2,500,000

Class Requirement: Warrior

……

My mind was made up the moment I saw its Ghost Armament effect. I immediately slammed the Wind Severing Sword into Lin Yixin’s palm and said, "It’s a deal, dear! The Wind Severing Sword is yours, and the Cloak of Divine Fervor is mine!"

"Mn mn!" Lin Yixin happily equipped the Wind Severing Sword and transformed into a beautiful storm goddess. Starting now, Beautiful Little Pepper would leave a stormy trail behind her no matter where she went.

Li Chengfeng stared at the cloak while complaining, "It’s not fair! 50% damage reduction on top of all these passives and stats? This is truly unfair!"

I cackled. "I wouldn’t trade the Wind Severing Sword for it if it wasn’t that great!"

1. E/N We didn’t know it when it first appeared, but it’s not about the edge/the blunt side. As many descriptions since then state, it’s about the pictures on each side. One side represents life, the positive side. The other, death and destruction, and that’s the negative side. ☜

2. E/N: Final form my ass. ☜

3. T/N: doesn’t matter to Lu Chen because he’s already equipped the weapon. As long as he never unequips it, he can wield it even if he’s below the requirement E/N: And as we’ve learned as far back as chapter ~80, he doesn’t need to unequip it to repair, even if the game makes him "give" the blacksmith his weapon. ☜
