Chapter 1093: Virgin Islands

Translator: alyschu

"Them again?"

Pissed off, Breeze and Rain ordered, "Second squad, surround them from the right wing and cut down their numbers with your speed advantage! Magic knights, immobilize them with Trapping Net and minimize the threat of their Berserk skill as much as possible! The rest of you, follow me and cut them down head-on!"

The moment he finished giving his orders, Breeze and Rain moved like lightning and unleashed a shockwave that looked like a crescent, killing three Berserkers instantly. The problem with these newcomers was that both their Defense and HP were piss poor. Some of them were still riding with Level 120 Silver Rank mounts. It was no wonder they were no match for Breeze and Rain at all!

"Break!’

However, another three Berserkers reached Breeze and Rain and were able to sink their weapons—an axe, a sword and a spear respectively—into the Agility Warrior’s body. The amount of damage they did was unbelievable—

98873!

102922!

79191!

Breeze and Rain hurriedly turned away and used a recovery skill and a potion to recover his HP. His expression turned even uglier than before. Just like me, the Agility Warrior could see that these Berserkers’ equipment was absolutely trash, and their base Attack might not even be half of his. However, that Berserk skill increased their Attack so much that they were able to pose a fatal threat to his life!

Breeze and Rain buffed himself with Blazing Wind Art before weaving his way into a group of Berserkers. Then, he killed them all with a devastating triple-hit Blazing Slash.

Behind him, the Beast King Cavalry and the Berserkers were clashing against one another, but the Beast King Cavalry was the clear winner between the two. Their mounts were Level 175 boss mounts, so of course they were superior to their opponents. Despite the Berserkers’ show of utter fearlessness and power, they were slaughtered by the Beast King Cavalry almost at a 5 to 1 ratio.

……

Meanwhile, the leader of the Berserkers was swinging his axe in a circle. The red hue surrounding his body meant that even the Beast King Cavalry had to give him a wide berth. Some time later, the redbeard suddenly shouted, "Eat this, you little sh*ts! Whirlwind Slash!"

"Roar!"

The axe suddenly spun a hundred times faster than before, and the redbeard cut through the Beast King Cavalry like a living hurricane, dealing over 100k damage to all enemies who stood in his way. Even I had nothing but praise for his offensive power!

Meanwhile, I finally found an opening to scan the redbeard’s profile—

ID: War Scar

Level: 197

Class: Great Earth Berserker

Guild: Godkiller

Position: Leader

……

Tsk tsk, a Level 197 Great Earth Berserker? No wonder he was as formidable as he was. Also, if my memory served me well, Godkiller was a relatively famous guild in Iron Skull Wilderness, just like Hickey’s Sacred Oath. Also, I had nothing but respect toward their courage to challenge Cyan Earth City’s ace legion despite their absolutely terrible equipment and mount. Not everyone had the courage to defend their homes. Black Crow Tribe was the living example of that.

"What are you waiting for, boy?"

Warscar cut down a Beast King Cavalryman before shouting at me, "Are you going to let our sacrifice be in vain? Take your Sacred Armament and get lost already! That’s an item only us vagabonds are qualified to keep, not the wolves of India!"

However, contrary to his expectations, I returned to the frontline and fired Thousand Ice Slash into the Beast King Cavalry instead. I declared, "Since we’re all vagabonds here, let’s fight together! We win if these Indian riders are dead, right?"

"Hahaha!"

Warscar barked out a laugh. "You don’t look like much, but you at least got some balls with you! Very good, let’s kill these arrogant Indian players together!"

……

I made the Ancient Divine Dragon travel along an S-shaped path while reaping all the Beast King Cavalrymen around me like wheats. A short distance away, Breeze and Rain overtly stayed out of my way and retreated so that I wouldn’t be tempted to give him a sudden fright. He was aware that there was a huge difference between our stats right now, and he wasn’t foolish enough to challenge me alone until he found a better mount.

I took control over my mount and fired another Summon the Storm into the enemy. The falling ice and lightning immediately killed hundreds of flabbergasted Beast King Cavalry in an instant. It wasn’t their fault, really. The Ancient Divine Dragon simply wasn’t something a normal player could withstand!

Beside me, the stunned Warscar muttered, "What… what is this ridiculous skill? Who are you, boy? You… you can’t possibly be an NPC, can you?"

Chiang!

I brought my sword downward and cut a Beast King Cavalry’s shield, shoulder armor and body in half. Unfortunately, the resulting blood spray hit my face and forced me to spend a moment to wipe it clean. While doing so, I replied, "Nope, I’m a player. And don’t relax yet, they have far more players than we do!"

"Yeah. By the way, you wanna add me as a friend?"

"Sure!"

Unaffiliated players could add each other as friends. And so Warscar, a Level 197 mounted berserker, became my first friend since I was kicked out of the China server.

"Kill!"

The Berserkers kept fighting and shouting their battle cries. Although they were losing numbers at an incredible rate, their morale barely looked like it was affected at all. Warscar and I especially fought side by side and seemingly unbeatable.

Unfortunately, individual strength couldn’t alter the flow of a war. In just twenty minutes, the Berserkers under Warscar had dwindled to just a couple hundred, while Breeze and Rain still had thousands under his command. Worse, more reinforcements were on the way.

A satisfied smile cut across Breeze and Rain’s face before he ordered, "Camp the nearest graveyards so that these madmen can’t revive! Tonight, we’re going to teach them not to fuck with us!"

……

"Looks like this is as far as we go!" Warscar said with a face drenched in blood, "You have a great mount, brother, so you should escape while you still can. We’ll cover your retreat!"

I glanced once at my Fire God Helmet and replied, "Got it. I’ll do my best to protect the Sacred Armament. By the way, tell your friends to stay dead for the moment and wait for my signal. Breeze and Rain can’t camp the graveyards forever if he wants the Sacred Armament!"

Warscar nodded with a smile. "Mn!"

……

My dragon let out one last roar before making a break for it. If I stayed any longer, the Indian army would surely catch me in a death trap. As much as I appreciated Warscar’s timely interference, fighting to the death with them was easily the stupidest option. After all, we all lose if I died and lost the Sacred Armament to the Indians.

The Ancient Divine Dragon was fast, and it swam across the bramble-covered forest in just the blink of an eye. It barely lost any movement speed to the difficult terrain. The Beast King Cavalry couldn’t claim the same though. Their mounts couldn’t pass through the brambles, so they had no choice but to dismount to continue the pursuit. However, they could never hope to catch up to me as long as they remained on foot.

I took a turn and circled all the way back to the edge of the battlefield. There, I watched quietly as Breeze and Rain and several hundred Beast King Cavalrymen camped the Berserkers. Occasionally, a couple of them would revive because they couldn’t stand waiting and doing nothing, but the Indian army killed them all without mercy.

……

Speaking of which, Warscar’s corpse was about a hundred yards away from me. He was on his knees and clutching his war axe in a death grip. He had to have been killed by Breeze and Rain because no one else had the ability to do it.

I opened the friend list in an attempt to contact Warscar, but to my surprise it was he who sent me a call request first—

"Well? Can you tell me who you are now?" he asked with a smile.

I smiled back. "A Chinese player who was exiled from his server."

"Wait, you’re… the Unkillable War God who bullied the crap out of the Purple Grape City players in Final Duel Valley? The legendary pride of the China server and the MVP of the WEL internationals?"

"That’s me."

Warscar slapped his legs while laughing. "Haha, I should’ve realized this from the start! That golden emblem on your shoulder is the WEL MVP emblem, and you hid your ID so that no one can identify you! Haha, I can’t believe I fought side-by-side with a world champion!"

I scratched my head awkwardly. I was having a hard time adjusting to his accent because the guy was using a Sichuan translation plug-in software. "So, who are you guys, Warscar?"

An enigmatic smile sprung to Warscar’s lips. "Ever heard of a country called the Viking Islands?"

My eyes widened. "I think the common name for it was Virgin Islands?"

Warscar laughed again. "Yep, we’re all players from Viking Islands, but our country doesn't possess any sovereignty. As a result, we were spawned in this Iron Skull Wilderness from the beginning of the game. This is our home though. We may be surrounded by high-level mobs, deadly NPCs and powerful empires, but we vikings have always been a tenacious bunch. We will never stop fighting, and the talent we were spawned with is the living proof of it—Berserk!"

"Berserk?" I exclaimed in surprise. "Is this why you have this many berserkers?"

Warscar nodded seriously. "Mn. Berserk is our character talent. When we activate it, we increase all our stats at the expense of Defense. Also, we all chose fighter classes when we first joined the game. Seriously. It’s the biggest reason why our levels, equipment, and mounts always fall behind everyone. We just die way too often in combat!"

I asked, "How many viking players are playing the game?"

"Around 25k, and 20k or so are always online," Warscar declared with a proud smile on his face. "They are very trustworthy, and they are all my eternal brothers and sisters! By the way, what’s your name, boy?"

"My name is Lu Chen."

"Very well. Lu Chen, you’ve fought side by side with us. In my eyes, you’re halfway there to becoming our brother. Will you consider joining us since you’re now an unaffiliated player?"

I gave it some thought, but I shook my head and said, "I don’t belong here, so I cannot become one of you."

"That’s a shame…"

"By the way, do you know Hickey?"

"Oh?" Warscar smiled. "You mean that cunning lass? Yes, several times. I don’t like her though…"

"Why not? Let me guess. It’s because you can’t beat her in a fight?" I joked.

Warscar immediately looked embarrassed. "O… of course not!!"

I laughed. "It’s fine, I won’t tell anyone about it."

"Really? You’d better! If you tell anyone I’ll fight you to the death!"

"I know…"

……

While we were talking, I looked at the battlefield again. Breeze and Rain had finally lost his patience and was about to leave with his band of Beast King Cavalry. There were also 60 seconds left on the clock before the system announced my goddamned coordinates to the entire Iron Skull Wilderness once more. Time to run!
