69 Laser Tag Part II
The battle between Nari and Alex had begun, and the bystanders did not understand why two people in their early adulthood would take a game of laser tag so seriously. Nobody knew just how competitive these two individuals could be over even the most mundane tasks, let alone something fun, like laser tag.
Thus, Alex and Nari both sprinted through the arena, taking cover behind obstacles, and firing their lasers at one another in the hopes that they might win. The battle did not immediately come to an end like Alex first thought it would.
In fact, Nari appeared to be quite the skilled player, as she transitioned between cover flawlessly, narrowly avoiding Alex's attacks each time. Realizing that this game of cat and mouse could not go on forever, Alex decided to set a trap.
While Nari was hiding behind cover, he took off his cap, and placed it on the edge of the barrier, in the dimly lit room it appeared as if his head was unprotected. He then retreated further back to another barrier and waited for Nari to take the bait.
Perhaps she was over-eager to prove herself superior to this asshole who had done nothing but constantly make a fool out of her. But Nari bum rushed the barricade after spotting Alex's hat, and seeing how "timid he was" only to find that the cap was not attached to the man's head.
Though she immediately realized she had fallen for a fatal trap, it was too late as Alex popped up from behind his cover, and tagged Nari's gear with his laser, thus ending the match in his, and his team's favor. Nari, of course, kicked the barricade in frustration, and threw the hat back towards Alex before storming out of the arena.
"Fucking asshole!"
Alex was about to follow after her when his team caught up to him and congratulated him on a victory that was one solely because of his skills. It took some time to break away from the mob, but when he did, Alex found Nari sulking alone, outside the arena while playing a crane game.
He did not even understand just how competitive the girl was, or how hard she took a defeat. At least not until this moment. But after getting one look at the beautiful young woman's sulking expression, Alex could tell he may have gone too hard on her, and thus he approached the girl offering her a rematch, in a game that was far more competitive between them.
"Are you really going to be such a sore loser?"
Nari simply shot the man a fierce glare before commenting on his "victory" with an incredibly agitated tone in her voice.
"Hmph, you cheated!"
Knowing that the woman's favorability towards him had dropped by another five points, Alex could not help but realize that Nari was going to be a difficult one to conquer. Thus, he immediately thought of something to take his mind off of these difficulties.
"Come on…. If you're that upset, let's rematch. I hear this place has go-karts. You and me, racing outside. It would be damn near impossible for me to cheat in that, right?"
Nari rolled her eyes at the thought of playing another game with someone as loathsome as Alex. But at the same time, she really wanted to get the best of him. There was something about him that made her want to beat him at everything they competed in, almost as if he were her arch nemesis. Thus, after pouting for a few moments, and sighing, she finally agreed to his request.
"Alright, you're on! Just don't cry after I beat you!"
This caused Alex to grin with confidence as he boasted about his driving skills, in a way that caused Nari to look at him in utter disgust.
"Oh really? I'll have you know I have made it a habit of outrunning the cops! If you think your driving skills are better than mine, you must be high!"
The way Alex bragged about his lawless behavior was a huge turnoff to Nari who had a strong sense of justice and righteousness, and thus she simply, rolled her eyes again, before walking away towards the go karts, not even willing to deign Alex's words with a proper response.
Alex shrugged his shoulders and followed the girl, until they were at the racetrack, where they, along with a host of other people of various ages, were gearing up to race the go karts. There were a few of such vehicles available, and before Nari could even pick the one she wanted, Alex hopped into the one that was black and neon pink. Before placing the matching racing helmet on his head.
"Awesome! I'm going to kill in this thing!"
Nari gawked at Alex's shamelessness to claim the kart she wanted. Wasn't it supposed to be ladies first? The then harrumphed, and curled her fists before getting in a white and blew go kart, where she immediately flipped Alex off. As the two of them revved their engines while waiting for the race to begin.
Alex simply blew a kiss to the girl in response, and as the light turned green and the karts began to blast off, he made sure to keep a close eye on Nari. It was not easy navigating through a narrow and windy track with a dozen other drivers. But Alex had a lot of experience in police chases, driving through roads which were crowded.
Thus, he effortlessly made his way through the racers who were in front of him, passing them by, and smacking them on the head as he did so. Which caused them to look over at who was so daring, with a look of shock on their face.
Nari was also a decent driver. She just lacked in experience when it came to narrowly avoiding crashes. And thus she was far more cautious as she accelerated her kart and made her way around the other drivers. No matter how much progress she made, she always appeared behind Alex, who noticed her in his rearview mirrors and flipped her off, while turning past a windy area of the racetrack.
This enraged Nari, and caused her to become far more reckless, as she skid past other drivers who were trying to obstruct her path, going so far as to ram their rear bumpers if they got in her way, which caused them to skid off course, and crash into the stationary tires which acted as a wall of the racetrack.
It was becoming abundantly clear to everyone that these two drivers were taking this race way too seriously, as they competed neck and neck for the first place. When Alex noticed that Nari had caught up to him again, he deliberately hit his breaks, causing him to stop in front of her, where she just narrowly avoiding an all out collision.
However, the cost of this was her ramming into the barrier. Where Alex then sped up his kart once more, gaining a significant advantage over the girl while calling out to her with a particularly harsh insult.
"Take that, you fucking cunt!"
One by one, the other drivers who had been maintaining a safe distance from these two reckless individuals passed by Nari, as she tried to reverse her way out of her collision, in an attempt to get back on track.
Despite Nari's best efforts, she utterly failed to catch up to Alex after this, and was forced to admit defeat. Though she was not happy about it, in fact her favorability dropped another five points, leaving her at 0/100.
It was becoming increasingly clear to Alex that he would have to change his tactics if he wanted to win this girl's heart. Thus, he swore in their next competition he would let her win.
