Chapter 440 Underpaid Villains

Villain Ch 440. Underpaid Villains

A series of announcements appeared in front of Allen and the others once they appeared at the Cursed Crypts' gates.

[Congratulations you have completed the war event!]

[You have killed 1,035 players!]

[You have killed 102 NPCs!]

[You have destroyed 91 structures!]

[Level up!] X5

[You are now level 132!]

[You got 120,304 Coins]

Allen's jaw dropped as he read the results, and he couldn't help but voice his complaint. "Seriously?! Only five levels?! We just spent two hours in this event, and I personally took out a ton of players!" he exclaimed.

The rest of the group chimed in with similar frustrations.

"107,000 coins? That's it? I just spent 1,200,000 coins and fifty Upgrade Stones to get my armor up to +7 Grand Light Armor!" Bella vented her annoyance. She acknowledged that it was still a decent haul for a short event, but given their roles as the main antagonists, they had expected more.

Alice turned to Bella. "107,000 coins? Seriously? I only got 90,000!" she complained, her voice tinged with irritation.

Bella shot Alice a sideways glance. "Well, that's because you kept relying on your crowd control skills during the event. You should've used your area skill and killed them all, for crying out loud," she retorted, not one to mince words.

Shea leaned back and let out a disgruntled hiss as she read the announcement in front of her, her expression flat and unimpressed. "I really hope our item mall shares are better than this," she muttered, disappointment evident in her voice.

Zoe couldn't help but voice her frustration as well. She shook her head from side to side, her red eyes reflecting her disappointment. "We're supposed to be the villains in this game, and they pay us like we're extras. This is beyond pathetic. We are underpaid villains…," she muttered under her breath, her tone laden with incredulity. She couldn't imagine if the players caught them in this state, complaining about their hunting results.

"They should've thrown some decent loot into the mix for an event like that. Coins? Seriously? That's so underwhelming," Jane grumbled, her voice tinged with sadness. Her usually vibrant eyes had dulled with disappointment.

Larissa chimed in with a hint of annoyance. "Yeah! I mean, it would've been nice if they'd let us loot the fallen players' equipment. You know, like a jackpot of some sort," she mused, her eyes fixed on the virtual horizon.

Jane turned to Larissa, her interest piqued by the idea. "That actually makes sense. We could've scored big from those players," she admitted, a glimmer of hope returning to her eyes.

Vivian was less diplomatic in expressing her frustration. "This measly amount won't even get me a decent upgrade for my whip! It's infuriating!" she exclaimed, her voice laced with anger.

"How much do you need?" Allen asked Vivian.

She exhaled a long breath, her virtual avatar mirroring her exasperation, before turning to Allen.

"I need 2,000 coins more and five Upgrade Stones," she declared, her voice tinged with a mixture of frustration and determination.

With a casual wave of his hand, he summoned the holographic inventory screen that seemed to shimmer before him. Allen's hand entered the screen, retrieving the required items, and he extended them to Vivian.

"Here, take it," he offered.

Vivian hesitated for a moment, her digital avatar tilting its head slightly as she contemplated the situation. "Don't you also need it?" she asked Allen, genuine concern lacing her words. After all, in this game world, resources were often scarce, and every piece of equipment mattered.

Allen's response, however, was far from what she had expected. "I got lucky after upgrading my weapon last time, so I'll give it to you," he explained. His voice held an air of nonchalance, but there was a subtle generosity in his words, an understanding of the importance of helping each other.

A warm smile graced Vivian's lips as she accepted the items. "Thank you," she said sincerely, her gratitude shining through her digital persona.

Just as the exchange between Vivian and Allen seemed to conclude, Shea couldn't resist the opportunity to inject a playful note into the conversation. Clearing her throat to draw their attention, Shea turned to Allen with a teasing smile.

"Don't you want to give me one too?" she quipped, her tone teasing and light-hearted. Shea's playful request hung in the virtual air, inviting a response from their leader.

"What do you need?" Allen asked in his typically calm and casual tone, a hint of curiosity in his voice.

Shea didn't waste a moment. With a mischievous glint in her eyes, she sauntered closer to Allen. Her face came inches from his, and she leaned in provocatively. Her finger lightly touched his lips as she purred, "I need your L-O-V-E~."

The moment those words left her lips, Zoe couldn't help but react with a mixture of laughter and disbelief. She cringed dramatically and exclaimed, "Mom! That's the cheesiest pickup line I've ever heard!"

Shea turned to Zoe, her expression a playful mix of indignation and amusement. "Oh, come on!" she protested, shrugging. "I just learned it from the internet. Let me have my little happiness here."

Due to her comment, the playful comments continued to flow, each member of their group adding their own unique quip to the mix. It was as if the intense villainous vibe that had surrounded them in the heat of battle had dissipated, leaving behind a group of friends enjoying a lighthearted moment. Laughter and good-natured banter filled the air, and for a brief moment, they could forget the challenges they faced as villains.

However, amidst all the laughter and teasing, one member of their group remained unusually quiet. Larissa. She had her eyes fixed on Allen. While the others reveled in the playful exchange of words, Larissa's thoughts were elsewhere. She observed Allen with a focus that was hard to miss, her gaze unwavering as she watched him laughing and interacting with the group.

From the outside, Allen appeared to be the epitome of a charismatic leader and a good-natured friend. His friendly demeanor and playful mannerisms were evident in his expression, and he seemed to revel in the camaraderie of the moment. Yet, Larissa's gaze betrayed a different side of her thoughts.

When she shifted her gaze at Allen's armor, her mind began to wander, and her imagination took her on an unexpected journey. She couldn't help but recall the vivid image of "psycho Allen" that had been etched in her mind during their previous battles. That version of Allen, with his bloodstained armor and an eerie, malevolent smirk, was a stark contrast to the friendly persona she was witnessing now and made her heart beat fast. Her imagination led her to her imagination she shouldn't, especially with how he worked out at the gym.
