Chapter 724 – Miaomiao, the Saint

The second round was horrifying. Seeing how the lab rats barely survived after the five minutes of standing still, they contemplated their choices.

The elder proceeded with the test, "As you can see, the killing intent of a swordsman can be a deadly weapon. Any adept swordsman can make their opponents hallucinate or go insane with only a glare. We show them how they will die when we strike. If our opponents are mentally weak or unstable, this is the result. Only people with strong mental fortitude can pass this trial."

The players hesitated. Although they understood the concept of killing intent, they didn't want to experience death in-game. After all, upon death, they would be logged out of the game for three days because of the death penalty.

"I ain't joining this suicide event. I'll pass."

"I'll skip this, too. It's too risky."

"No. I'm not leaving this game for 3 days."

More than half of the players gave up before they could even try.

The elder overheard it. He scoffed at the cowardly players, "This round will be a time-limited one. We will finish it before the sunset! Anyone who misses this assessment test will automatically fail for this round, and it will affect your future positions in the sect if you were to pass three other exams."

Hearing the elder's announcement, 90% of the players made their decisions on the spot. They chose to skip this to try their luck in the third round.

Still, many local cultivators were braver and smarter. They noticed that all injured candidates earlier had been treated with care, and unfortunate cultivators that had stopped breathing managed to regain their senses. Seeing how the sect wouldn't let them die easily, they leaped on the platforms.

Out of 500 platforms, 300 were full in no time.

The administrating elders laughed and locked the platforms one at a time, but he left the empty ones and the ones with few people alone for now. Then, he tested their mental fortitude with his killing intent.

As five elders came to oversee the exam today, they could only test 5-600 people every five minutes.

Five minutes quickly passed. Out of 500ish cultivators on five platforms, no one came out unscratched. Everybody was soaked in their blood, which leaked from their orifices. All participants either fainted or stopped breathing.

Miaomiao rushed up the platforms and splashed healing water on everybody without caring if he would be reprimanded by Mao Handan for wasting good resources. As he knew the significance and the importance of these souls, he couldn't let them die in a trivial event like this.

The sect's deacons and disciples were astonished by Miaomiao's quick reaction. Following his lead, they rushed to the platforms to help the injured cultivators as well.

The five platforms were quickly cleaned and taken care of. The five elders moved to the next platforms and repeated the cruel test.

Five minutes later, the testing ground became bloody once more. Again, Miaomiao hopped over the platforms and dropped healing water everywhere. He didn't care if he might run out of Unified Element Water from his inventory since there was a better version of healing water in his sealed dantian.

As if he was a paramedic, Miaomiao kept saving lives. His white feather wing shone brighter every time he healed a dying cultivator.

During his patrol duty, Miaomiao ran into Tang Ting, who was standing tall among the collapsed cultivators. She was among the third batch of participants that went through the ordeal.

Although Tang Ting was the princess of the Tang Clan, she kept her Cleopatra hairstyle. Her red eyeliners looked weird in the middle of the Chinese-looking people among the crowd.

She waved her hands at him.

"Miaomiao, want me to help?"

Miaomiao landed next to her. Although it was supposed to be a sweet reunion moment, he turned away from Tang Ting and proceeded to heal the dying cultivators.

"Do you still have holy water from Siren City?"

"Err, no. After we started relying on Sacred Water Element, I stopped collecting them in my inventory. I have sacred water, though."

"Okay. Use that to treat the injured. Don't let anybody die!"

"But why are we saving them, Miaomiao? It's none of our business."

"We can't cultivate luck in this universe anymore! We have to acquire them by doing good deeds or killing local protagonists. Now go!"

"O-Oh!"

Although Tang Ting had no idea about the secret of Mu-Nyang's dantian universe, she followed his order right away. Tang Ting carried injured cultivators to the sect's infirmary tents while Miaomiao focused on treating the dying ones. None of them cared how their bodyguards or the others' opinions, and the disciples didn't stop them from helping the dying people.

.

Chase, who managed to regain his sense, noticed how Miaomiao wholeheartedly rescued the injured cultivators. He was moved.

'This must be some kind of event. I can't miss this!'

Influenced and motivated by Miaomiao's selfless deeds, Chase helped out by cooperating with the disciples and carrying injured cultivators to the infirmary tents.

As soon as he brought one of the moderately injured people to a tent, he received a game message.

<The Celestial Sword Sect's disciples have taken notice of you.>

<You have gained 3 Fame.>

<You have helped an injured person without asking anything in return.>

<You have unlocked a new status attribute – LUCK!>

<Your luck has been permanently increased by 0.5!>

"Whoa."

Chase's eyes widened. He clenched his fists as he got motivated again.

'This game is so much fun!'

.

Nine hours later, the second round was over. Only 33,000 cultivators and players took this test, and less than 100 cultivators scored higher than 50.

Only Miaomiao and Tang Ting, who didn't flinch during the exam, got the full score. Now, their names were on the top of the leaderboard with 200 points.

Chase was now a superstar among players. He was the only player on the leaderboard now as all local cultivators went through the test and barely survived.

Miaomiao and Tang Ting's clothes were drenched in sweat. Saving 33,000 lives from the jaws of death was not an easy task, but they did it anyway.

The white feather wing behind Miaomiao now shone like a beacon. Luck energy gathered in one of the feathers, and Miaomiao's Qi soared because of the positive karma.

Many cultivators, who recovered from the injuries, came to give Miaomiao their thanks. A few groveled to the ground for him.

Despite being worshiped by the local cultivators, Miaomiao waved his hands as if he didn't need it. He took a seat on a chair in the disciple's infirmary, catching his breath.

While Miaomiao was resting, one of the people from the sect, who carried a black feather fan and wore unique black robes, came to greet him. This person seemed to know Miaomiao.

"You've changed, Lord Mao. You're kind, generous, and benevolent like a saint. The previous you were kinda… psychopathic."

"Hmm?"

Miaomiao raised his brows as the tone irked his ears. He looked at the person.

He was surprised. The disciple was Sima Yi!
