Chapter 350: Tsundere Sun Wentai

Miaomiao looked back and forth between Sun Wentai and the tiger cub, wondering whom he should believe in.

From Miaomiao's experience, animals and beastmen were usually honest while humans could be deceptive. He chose to believe in the tiger.

"So, the backstory from the test was actually real."

"That's right. How about it? Wanna buy me off from their hands? Hey, Sun Wentai! Sell me to this young man!"

Sun Wentai's face was dark as he yelled at the guardian beast, "According to my grandfather, you are to work for our sect for 1,000 years! It has been only 250 years since you have been working for us. You still have 750 years more. I can't sell you when you haven't finished repenting for your crimes!"

The tiger roared back, "Bullshit! Your great grandfather only asked me to protect your ass for 300 years! Where did that 1,000 years come from!?"

The two started arguing about the guardian beast's remaining contracted time. The tiger claimed that he only had 50 years to serve his time while Sun Wentai wanted the tiger to stay here for 750 more years.

Their voices got louder, but there was only one thing that Miaomiao was interested in – The tiger said that he could buy him.

"Say, Sect Master Sun," Miaomiao coughed and interrupted their conversation.

Sun Wentai and the white tiger cub stopped yelling and looked at Miaomiao.

Miaomiao nodded, after which he faced Sun Wentai, "Can you sell him to me? He seems to dislike your sect. I don't mind taking it with me."

The tiger wiggled his tail as if it was a dog, "Yes! Absolutely freaking YES! As long as the patriarch of the Sun Clan free me or gives me to someone else with his free will, I can stop staying at this shitty place! Of course, you can buy me!"

Sun Wentai glared at Miaomiao and shook his head, "Our guardian beast isn't for sale. He's important to our sect."

The tiger snorted, "Yeah, right. You keep extracting my blood essence every 10 years. How many people can truly inherit my bloodline so far? NONE! You and your boy? HAHAHAHAHA!! Be proud that you can use one-tenth of the bloodline power without dying!"

Sun Wentai's face distorted in frustration. As his guardian beast had said – His family couldn't inherit all the tiger's power. They only managed to digest and utilize 10% of the divine beast's blood essence as their physiques were not compatible with the beast's bloodline.

But the tiger cub had misunderstood Sun Wentai one thing.

In reality, Sun Wentai wanted to protect the white tiger from other human cultivators. Moreover, he kept the extracted blood essence to research for the right pill recipe for the divine beast so that he could make a strengthening pill to nurture the white tiger.

He had been treating the white tiger as his son, not a slave!

Nobody knew about Sun Wentai's communication issues – He always spoke in an aggressive tone even though he didn't mean it. Most of the time, he said them without thinking, which resulted in a negative impression.

Sun Wentai opened his mouth and was about to say something. Again, he failed to come up with the right response.

Meanwhile, the tiger cub was tired of bickering with the greedy sect master. He scoffed and walked away, "You can keep me here as long as you like, but when my oath is expired, be prepared for the retaliation! You can't enslave me forever!"

"That's not it," Sun Wentai wanted to apologize, but his next words were something else. "You know what? Fine! I'll sell you to this gentleman here! I'll even return your blood essence that I have been collecting. You can get the fuck out of my sight!"

Hearing the permission, the tiger cub laughed, "You should have done that decades ago! Now, swear by your dao oath that you will transfer the ownership of me to this boy or free me!"

"…"

Miaomiao looked back and forth between Sun Wentai and the cub. This event benefited him, but his right eyebrow, which hadn't been sending any sign lately, began to uncontrollably twitch.

The bad luck hunch was always corrected, and Miaomiao was alarmed by the sign. Without thinking, he jumped and stood between the cub and Sun Wentai.

"Stop!"

Sun Wentai froze while the tiger cub hissed.

"Hey! What's the big deal!? Can't you see that I'm getting my freedom!?"

Miaomiao picked up the tiger cub and carried him into his arms. He pinched the fluffy cheek to shut his mouth, after which he confronted Sun Wentai, "Calm down for a second. Hear me out."

Sun Wentai sighed and nodded, "Yes? Do you want to add anything?"

"Yeah, first off, I think we're missing a few crucial people in this meeting, and I don't think our alliance agreement can't be completed without him. By chance, is there a servant by the name Zhou Gongjin among your clansmen?"

"Huh?"

Miaomiao changed the topic to the alliance agreement even though they had practically settled it just a moment ago.

It was unnecessary to continue discussing this topic, which confused Sun Wentai.

"Why are you bringing this up? I thought we've pretty much settled our agreement. Oh, are you worried about my troops? Don't worry about it. I'll commission the local alchemists to concoct as many healing pills as they can, so our injured fighters can join us. After everything is settled, this sect and our warships shall sail northwest and regroup with Siren City's troops before the end of winter. If we're lucky, we can intercept the Yuan Clan's troops on our way there."

Miaomiao shook his head, "No. I have no problem with your troops whatsoever, but I suggest you listen to that person first. He's smarter than you thought, and he can contribute a lot in this upcoming war."

Sun Wentai frowned and made an angry face again. He leaned forward and glared at Miaomiao, "Look, junior. I am the sect master and the clan patriarch here. If it's our internal affair, I'm the one who calls the shot, not you. You can't meddle in our affair or tell me how I should mobilize my forces."

[Sun Wu shakes his head and facepalms in shame for having an idiot as his descendant.]

[The Tsundere-ness and the stupidity of Sun Wentai make several dao gods cringe.]

[The Sun Crow predicts that this clan will meet its demise soon with such a moronic man as the clan lord.]

"…"

Miaomiao agreed with the dao god's reactions. Moreover, he was concerned about the looming danger because of his twitching eyebrow.

He looked at the tiger cub with a bitter smile as he came up with another idea.

Miaomiao stared into Sun Wentai's eyes and ejected 300 bottles of unified element spring water from Siren City. All bottles rolled on the floor as Miaomiao no longer cared about them.

"My deepest apologies for crossing the line. These bottles of elixir will be the token of my apology and the deposit for purchasing this guardian beast. When you make up your mind, come back and visit me and tell me how much you need from me. For now, I'll keep him with me. Is that okay with you?"

Sun Jing and Huang Gongfu picked the bottles and checked them. As Sun Jing had drunk a portion of them last night, he recognized them.

"I thought you didn't have them on you anymore."

Miaomiao sighed, "I'm sorry. This portion is supposed to be the expense to hire other mercenary forces from the southern regions. I'm planning to recruit as many troops as possible, but it seems that purchasing the guardian beast is a wiser choice."

Sun Wentai gazed at the tiger with sad eyes. Yet, his mouth didn't follow his heart, "I've heard about those elixirs from my brother. I'll sell that stupid tiger for 10,000 bottles, but you can pay us later. We'll gladly take these bottles as a deposit."

"Thank you for your understanding."

"However, I shall completely transfer the ownership of that tiger after you've paid everything in full. You need to leave it here."

"…"

Miaomiao glared at the greedy sect master. He wanted to cuss the latter, but his right eyebrow kept twitching faster and faster.

As Miaomiao had no idea what went wrong during the negotiation or the conversation, he placed the tiger cub down and cupped his fist. He excused himself, asking to leave the flying island today.

Miaomiao left the meeting hall with Gan Ning in tow. However, the tiger cub didn't follow after them due to the restriction of the sect.

There were many questions that Miaomiao wanted to ask the beast, but he saved them for a later date.

As Miaomiao stomped out of the building, Sun Jing followed after him.

"Wait, son!"

Miaomiao stopped to look back, "Yes, father-in-law?"

"I'm sorry for what my brother did. He's terrible with words, but he's a benevolent leader for the local."

"Ah, that? I don't mind. If I were him, I would have done the same. No one wants to sell their slave beast so easily."

Miaomiao felt a bit better after he left the grand hall as his right eyebrow stopped twitching. Still, he couldn't figure out how his instinct warned him of the danger.

It might be related to the tiger cub, but that didn't make sense. What kind of danger would transpire by possessing the cub?

As Miaomiao had nothing to do, Sun Jing invited him to spectate the sect examination test to relieve his stress, which the latter accepted. The gang descended to the foot of the mountain, where the test was held.

On the ground, where the tests were held, ten thousand cultivators gathered to spectate the annual assessment examination event. Many people were excited to see their children or promising youngsters fare in the mysterious exams and trials, held by the Jiangdong White Tiger Sect.

A platform was elevated one meter high, so the crowd could see the test takers from below. Young men and young women gathered around the stage, waiting for their turn be the center of attention.

Two 5th-stage elders had been busy on the stage, calling one youngster after another to hit the black boulder at the center of the square platform. Every time someone hit the boulder, a number showed on top of the rock, revealing their power output.

The test was simple. As long as the disciple candidates could score higher than 500, they could pass the first assessment and go to the next round.

Yet, not many people could reach the targeted score even though they used the best skills or techniques. Most of them produced 200 to 300 points as their cultivation base was merely bone refinement realm or meridian establishment realm. Rarely, an essence gathering realm cultivator appeared and got above 500 points.

Miaomiao and Sun Jing flew down to the stage with Gan Ning in tow as usual. As there was no spectator stand, they could only observe while they stood awkwardly behind the two supervising elders, who had been busy monitoring the boulder and the disciple candidates.

As soon as Miaomiao and Gan Ning showed up, many youths below the platform recognized them. Some of them gossiped and recounted about their deeds the other day.

Miaomiao and Gan Ning ignored them since they sounded like old women. They continued to watch the show as they had nothing better to do.

Unfortunately, the outer disciple selection tests looked mundane for Miaomiao as the specialties of these test-takers were their loud mouths and their arrogance. Many hormone-driven youths swagged on the platform and bragged about their techniques, but they always failed miserably.

Instead of watching a martial art exam, all Miaomiao saw was lame staged comedy acts.

From his point of view, these people's potential level was less than ten percent comparing to the clones in his Isolation Training Space.

As a result, he kept yawning, wanting to go back to sleep.

The action of Miaomiao offended the failed candidates. After watching Miaomiao repeatedly yawn for an hour, one of the youths below the stage yelled.

"The test must be rigged! How come most of us failed, but that idiot passed!?"

The supervisor elders glared at the youth and bellowed, "We treat everyone equally, and all exams are fair! If you think we cheated, how about you come up and use your best technique on our assessment stone?"

The elders immediately called the youth to walk up the platform to hit the black boulder.

The youth happily jumped on the platform. He also didn't forget to brag about his family background.

"I'm Jiang Song from the Jiang Family! Today, you shall witness the power of the Jiang Clan, and you shall respect me! I'll show you the difference between those cheating bastards and the real expert's strength!"

"Yeah, yeah. Go on with it," the elders rolled their eyes and waved their hands, hurrying the youth to finish it.

Jiang Song gathered his yang essence into his fist, revealing his cultivation base of early 4th-stage. Then, he punched the boulder.

BOOM

The boulder shook a bit, and the number was shown.

439

"You've failed. Next!" The elders sneered at the youth and called for the other candidates.

But Jiang Song protested, "That's impossible! My greatest Chicken-Killing Fist is invincible! I even knocked out several late 4th-stage cultivators with this punch! Let me do it again!"

"Scram, you failure piece of dog poop! Chicken-Killing Fist, my ass! You won't even scratch a chicken with that slow punch!"

"You…" The youth pointed his fingers at the supervisor elders in anger. As he couldn't retaliate against the 5th-stage elders before him, he lashed out on Miaomiao and Gan Ning.

"What about them!? Can they score higher than me!?"

"…"

The elders stared at the youth for a moment. Then, they glanced at Miaomiao and Gan Ning. They, too, were curious about their strength.

One of the elders grinned and turned to Miaomiao. He waved his hand, gesturing them to have a try.

"I know that both of you have already passed the inner disciple examination. However, many people here are curious about your strength. How about you show them how it's done and shut them up?"

Miaomiao rubbed his eyes and swiped his teardrop after another yawn. He gazed at the elders in confusion.

"Huh?"
