Chapter 24 - Accident

The invigilator's initial thought was that Ye Hao was completing this section's fill-in-the-blanks.

There were a total of fifty blanks in this section, with answers to thirty of them available in the textbook. The remaining ten blanks required students to rely on their accumulated knowledge, while the last ten were a true test of extensive reading.

In the context of ancient poems, scoring 40 points on this section was already considered impressive.

Achieving a score of 45 was a mark of excellence.

It was a rarity to find someone across the entire country who could score a perfect 50.

On this occasion, Ye Hao's invigilator happened to be a Chinese teacher with a passion for reading ancient poems.

The invigilator's face displayed astonishment when he examined Ye Hao's exam paper.

Despite his vast knowledge, he could confidently answer 46 of the fill-in-the-blank questions correctly. However, he discovered that Ye Hao had not only answered all 46 of these questions correctly but also provided solutions to the four remaining questions he himself couldn't solve.

The invigilator noticed that Ye Hao's answers closely adhered to the rules of ancient poetry.

In other words, Ye Hao may have indeed supplied the correct responses to those four questions.

The proctor's breath quickened as he mused to himself, “This is simply astonishing.”

He reined in his excitement and carried on with his reading.

He discovered that Ye Hao had not only aced the reading and comprehension questions but had also crafted an essay that could be considered flawless.

Yet, what left him astounded was that Ye Hao's essay bordered on perfection.

Even though he held his students' essays to exacting standards, he couldn't help but think that Ye Hao's deserved a perfect score.

Achieving a perfect score on an essay was a rare feat indeed.

At this point, the proctor was convinced that he had witnessed a genuine marvel.

“Today marks the final day of the examination,” Ye Hao pondered. After a morning meal, he pedaled his bicycle toward No.2 High School.

Over the past two days, Ye Hao had been performing exceptionally well.

He held strong confidence that he would attain a high score this time around.

However, in that very moment, an ear-piercing sonic boom assaulted Ye Hao's ears. He witnessed a large truck colliding with one car after another in rapid succession.

The force of the truck's impact was overwhelming.

Those cars proved to be no match, crumbling like paper before it.

The big truck only came to a halt after plowing into the fifth car.

Ye Hao grasped the realization that a car accident had occurred right before his eyes.

“But during the college entrance exams, the city government prohibits large trucks from approaching the school. Why are there large trucks here?” Ye Hao wondered.

Just as Ye Hao pondered this puzzle, a cry for help reached his ears.

“There are survivors.” Ye Hao parked his bicycle to the side and rushed to the frontmost car. Since the four cars ahead had been reduced to ruins, it was improbable that anyone inside had survived.

Ye Hao gazed at the mangled vehicle, feeling concern for its owner.

“Help,” a feeble voice pleaded from within the car.

An old man in a suit was covered in blood. One of his legs was deformed due to the pressure, and his chest was pierced by a steel pipe.

“Sir, how are you doing?” Ye Hao shouted when he saw this scene.

“Save me.” When the old man saw Ye Hao, his eyes revealed a look of hope.

Ye Hao quickly opened the car door.

The moment Ye Hao opened the car door, a sense of danger surged in his heart.

At the critical moment, Ye Hao activated his ability to slow down others.

With a bang, a bullet pierced through Ye Hao's chest. A trace of blood instantly shot out from his chest.

The bullet carried a powerful impact that caused Ye Hao to crash into the car door.

Wang Wei was a professional assassin. His mission this time was to kill Lin Yuantu.

However, just as he was about to shoot, a young man blocked his line of sight. Wang Wei, who had killed so many people, didn't care about killing one more person.

So, he decisively pulled the trigger.

What surprised him was even though he was aiming for the young man's heart, the last bullet hit the young man's chest.

Wang Wei thought, “Did I make a mistake?”

However, the next moment, he let out a muffled groan as a piece of debris pierced his eye. Blood immediately gushed out.

At the same time, Wang Wei saw Ye Hao turn around and stare at him coldly. Ye Hao's right hand was still in the throwing position.

An expert!

Wang Wei immediately realized this.

The intense pain made him lose his grip on his gun. Wang Wei covered his blind eyes and fled into the distance.

Lin Yuantu also saw this scene.

He looked at Ye Hao in shock and said, “You…”

In that moment, the distant wail of an ambulance reached Ye Hao's ears. He turned to Lin Yuantu and stated, “I'm just a student. With the ambulance here, I should head to my college entrance exam.”

Turning around to depart, Ye Hao suddenly felt a dizzy spell and ended up half-kneeling on the ground.

“You've lost a significant amount of blood. Your wound needs to be dressed,” Lin Yuantu urged promptly.

Ye Hao clenched his teeth and resisted the overwhelming dizziness. “I must take the college entrance exam.”

“Young man, you mustn't be reckless. You could lose even more blood,” Lin Yuantu spoke in a serious tone. “The Lin family holds some influence in society. I can assure you a place in your desired university.”

“Can you secure admission to the top six universities for me?” Ye Hao asked with a grin.

Lin Yuantu hesitated for a moment.

Admission to the top six universities was entirely merit-based. Even if one had influential connections, without the requisite grades, acceptance was unattainable.

“So, I still need to sit the exam,” Ye Hao declared through gritted teeth, rising to his feet. Yet, as soon as he stood up, he lost consciousness.

Wang Wei's bullets were of a unique design.

These bullets surpassed ordinary ones in both penetration and lethality.

Following the bullet's penetration of Ye Hao's chest, not only did he fail to staunch the bleeding immediately, but he also inflicted a wound on one of Wang Wei's eyes.

Consequently, blood continued to flow unabated.

Regardless of Ye Hao's robust physique, excessive blood loss would eventually lead to unconsciousness.

Upon Liang Mo's arrival at the scene, he examined the situation and discerned that it was a premeditated assassination.

When he saw Ye Hao on the stretcher, he couldn't help but be stunned.

“Ye Hao.”

“Officer, do you know this student?” Lin Yuantu asked in a deep voice as he lay on another stretcher.

“Who are you?”

“I am Lin's Group's Lin Yuantu.”

Liang Mo's expression changed.

The Lin's Group was a large real estate company in the south. Its market value was ten billion, and even the governor had to treat it with respect.

“This is a friend of mine,” Liang Mo replied.

“Please inform the parents of this student and arrange for the finest doctors and a private ward. I will cover all expenses,” Lin Yuantu said with a cough.

“Mr. Lin, you can't delay seeking medical attention any longer. You need to go to the hospital immediately,” a doctor urged.

“Get them to the hospital swiftly,” Liang Mo said after a quick assessment of the situation.

The ambulance doctor assessed Ye Hao's injuries and immediately called out, “Hemostatic forceps, gauze, alcohol.”

Ye Hao's wound continued to bleed, and the immediate priority was to staunch it.

When the surgical light illuminated Ye Hao's face, his semiconscious state suddenly sharpened into full awareness.

He sat up abruptly.
