It seemed that the team had found the right direction to follow. However, the number of monsters was too high for them to make any real progress in finding the dungeon. They knew the area where they could find it, but it seemed that they had to open a path first.
Once Jake realized that he switched his weapons and equipped his katana and shield again once he mastered the gloves. When four snow wolves tried to attack him at the same time, Jake jumped too high in the air, but unfortunately, the monsters didn't head-butt each other. Nevertheless, Jake landed on the back of one of them and then pierced its neck with all his might. The creature died instantly, and then Jake jumped to attack another.
While he was in midair, the remaining three creatures opened their mouth and used their ice magic. While Jake protected his upper body, his lower had been frozen. Still, before the creatures could try anything, Louise stopped them with Fireballs, and then Lana used Purification to free Jake. Thanks to that, he had the chance to hit the nape of two monsters with Mana Blades, and they were defeated.
"Monsters can have more than the obvious weak spots, I suppose," Jake muttered, and then he landed.
The remaining monster tried to bite him, but Jake stopped the attack by using Bash against the creature's teeth. Before he could do anything, Louise made the monster eat a Fireball. The projectile exploded inside the creature's might, and then it fell to the ground, dead.

Jake sighed in relief, but then he saw another group of snow wolves approaching… instead of thinking too much about that, Jake decided to just enjoy the grinding. In order to speed up things a little bit, Jake used all his mana to finish some of the snow wolves. It was better to do that as soon as possible and then get used to fighting them without the use of mana. Thanks to that, the level of difficulty increased a little bit, to the point where Jake even got bit on his arms several times, and each strike made him lose one-third of his health. Still, he endured that and just waited for Lana to heal him. Sometimes he forgot that she could level up Heal by using it when someone was wounded, so it was necessary for him to get hurt now and then. Still, that wasn't a problem since his Pain Resistance was also increasing. Still, after a while, they were forced to retreat… the reason was the fact that Lana and Louise also used all their mana due to continuous fights. Even though their main skills granted them the chance to recover or not use mana at all.
"This is too intense… the number of monsters are too dang high!" Lana protested.
"A few days had passed since that guild cleared the dungeon… I guess no one tried since then," Louise said. "Still, we can kill more than six enemies per minute, so eventually, we will open a path toward the dungeon."
Since they were getting stronger at a pretty decent pace, Jake knew that their hunting speed would increase even more. However, the problem was the fact that they only had five hours for each mission. Naturally, even Jake didn't want to skip a meal to keep playing, but doing so certainly would increase their work later.
"It has been a while since I got a new weapon, maybe it is time to buy a more powerful enough," Jake thought.
There was always the chance that Jake could already buy a new set of items and thus gain a new class. Still, right now, he would instead go for a weapon that will grant him another useful offensive skill than a class.
Even though the group retreated, the attacks of the snow wolves kept coming one after the other. Without mana to spar, they could only defeat around six snow wolves per minute… which was the same rate they could be spawned. So, that also made the girls realize that they needed a power-up. So, they waited patiently for the end of the mission.

"Lana…" Louise said, showing a complicated expression.
"Don't mind it, she is that type of an idiot," Jake said. "Besides, I agree that we should clear or heads while having a meal before deciding anything."
"Now I feel bad since you acting so mature…" Lana said after she lowered her head.
"It is only the most obvious way to deal with someone like you," Jake said, and then he logged off before Lana could complain.
Even Jake was a bit tired since the weather and the wolves didn't give them a single moment of peace. Maybe it was because of that, Jake felt pretty eager to eat something spicy that would heat up his body, but in the end, he went for something lighter. While that wasn't something he would eat at lunch often, he went with some tomato soup and grilled cheese. Easy to prepare and quite tasty.
"I am surprised… did you work somewhere where you learned this cooking skills, Jake?" Louise asked while they were eating. "I bet you have great talent to become a chef."
"Talent… that is nonsense," Jake frowned. "This is something I learned by myself after trying and trying again and again."
Jake didn't get exactly angry, but it felt a bit weird hearing that since it seemed like something he didn't earn by himself.
