A dungeon master at such a moment… Jake was expecting to find a few of them during that mission, but he didn't expect something like that. Truth be told, that creature seemed like the type who would use a dungeon core to make a dungeon appear in its backyard and eat the monsters like snacks.

"We need to fight together and… no… there are more armies coming," Louise said and then bit her lips in exasperation.

"I will take care of this thing. You guys split and make sure that they won't get in the way," Jake said after stepping forward. "I will make this quick."

Before anyone could say anything about that, the monster swung one of the chains at Jake, and even though he blocked the attack with his sword, the impact made the whole area tremble… even Jake's body flinched for a short moment… that level of power was just insane.

"Let's go, guys," Lana said. "We can't let the battlefield get any messier with that thing around. Here are some buffs for you, don't take your time, though."

"I already told you that this would be quick," Jake said when the enemy pushed away the chains.

Before the chains could even stop, the enemy charged at Jake, and that speed forced Jake to use Flash to the side. The enemy ended up punching the ground and cracking dozens of meters around and making the area tremble…

A direct hit certainly would be painful, so Jake couldn't drop his guard… regardless, before the enemy could turn to attack him, it swung the left chain and then tried to capture Jake. He just jumped to dodge it before he charged at the enemy. The big guy used the momentum to turn again and attack with the other chain, but Jake blocked the attack with his sword and was pushed to the side…

"Even with Lana's buffs… my speed isn't enough, huh," Jake thought. "I don't know how the others are fairing without me, but I guess I have to go all out just to be sure…"

Jake enhanced his sword with his mana and the dark flames. Thanks to that, the energy around the weapon began to move wildly and violently… Jake had a hard time keeping them from interfering with each other…

"I guess their nature is too different from theirs to work well together…" Jake thought and then looked at the enemy glaring at him. "Still, I can attack with both, and that guy can tell…"

When he charged at the enemy, the target readied himself as well. He looked like a mad beast, but the creature still could make wise decisions… when Jake used Sonic Thrust, the creature enveloped his arms with the chains and blocked the strike with both of them. The impact made a powerful metallic sound echo through the area, and the enemy was pushed behind for half a meter… his endurance was also something else.

The enemy kicked turned around and then kicked Jake's side. While he managed to block the attack with his sword, Jake still was sent flying to the side… he didn't even cross thirty meters when the enemy suddenly appeared above him and then slashed the chains at him. Once again, Jake reacted in time and blocked the direct hit, but he was sent downward and smashed his back against the ground.

The enemy landed nearby and then proceeded to smash Jake's head with its fists, but then from that position, Jake used Mana Blade. The enemy blocked the attack with both chains on his arms again, and the impact pushed him backward for several meters… some smoke began to leave the chains, but overall, the enemy was unscathed…

"Those are some sturdy chains…" Jake said while he was getting up.

"They are also pretty heavy. Look at the ground around them," Virgilius said. "They must be a rare material that is pretty sturdy and heavy, even in small amounts."

The chains were sinking underground… that worked well as chains, but it was also supposed to slow the enemy down considerably… Jake had no idea why that guy would use such weird weapons, but he didn't have time to think about that. In any other situation, he would love to keep fighting an opponent that strong, but he didn't have time to quench his thirst for fights…

Jake spammed his dark mana blades one after the other and tried to control their power, making them increase slightly with each hit. That was a good chance for him to obtain better control over that combination… as for the enemy, he only blocked all of the hits with the chains.

"There are no signs of the damage on the chains… the material that they are made of is quite something," Virgilius said.

"It isn't time to be amazed…" Jake said.

"I am already working on analyzing the data of the battle," Virgilius said. "You can control the mana and the dark flames when firing them, but you aren't doing the same when you attack directly. If you manage to do that, your direct attacks will be more effective."

That was easy to say… Jake couldn't make the mana flow on the blade when the dark flames were moving around it. He needed some time to learn how to combine them without using the dark mana blade, but he didn't have time…

The enemy grew tired of focusing on defense and then charged at Jake while protecting his head alone. In the end, Jake accepted the challenge and attacked with all his might after dashing toward the enemy… his sword and the chains collided against each other, and then a crater began to form around those two while they were trying to overpower each other. Still, in the end, Jake lost the exchange and was moved to the distance… he collided and smashed against countless trees behind him… and when he stopped, the enemy moved to smash his whole body with both fists…
