A few hundred enemies once again fell in the blink of an eye. Still, before the second battle could truly be decided, all of the remaining iron golems began to move, and they also began to connect themselves through cables. Still, Jake wasn't in a hurry since he assumed that they wouldn't aim at him and risk damaging their allies… he was wrong.

When the enemies fired their mana cannon, Jake opened his eyes widely and then jumped backward, passing above the closest enemies to him. The dust had settled down to the point that he could be seen again. However, he didn't mind that since the explosions made most of the iron golems fall.

One of the ordinary ones targeted him, but he split the iron golem in two with his sword and dark flames, and then he took shelter behind the fallen iron golem. Unfortunately, he saw the creature melting almost instantly when the mana cannons were concentrated on the target.

"I can't retreat now… this is just the second phase of their battle plan," Jake thought.

There wasn't much that Jake could do aside from moving to the side and then using other iron golems as shields. Unfortunately, he couldn't do it for long either since Myrna's group was targetting the second wave of enemies as well, and soon they might become the real target. With that in mind, Jake took a deep breath and then charged toward the enemies.

Jake already knew about the weakness of the enemies when they entered that connected mode… they couldn't turn around that easily. However, that only applied inside the dungeons. The enemies in front of him joined together by standing one above the other in groups of at least ten iron golems. Thus, if the golem at the base turned, the whole group would turn as well. With that in mind, Jake targeted one of those at the base.

Jake didn't hold back, and then the sword attack split his target in two. Before the other iron golems could fall, Jake summoned his dark flames and made it pierce the iron golems downward. Almost immediately, the iron golems stopped working. However, the enemies on the sides pointed their hand cannons toward him.

"I really have to do this, huh…" Jake thought.

Jake made the massive dark flames spear spin and then attacked the enemies around before they could attack him. The iron golems were damaged a lot, but the dark flames decreased in size quite a bit… it was really annoying how much tough the iron golems were. Regardless, Jake's actions made Myrna and the others have enough room to finish the remaining iron golems, and they approached to fight the connected ones.

Much to Jake's surprise, Myrna and the others didn't attack the iron golems immediately. Instead of that, they pointed their hands to a single spot, and then they created a massive sphere of lightning magic. Eventually, the sphere began to fire that magic toward all the iron golems nearby and with an even higher output.

"Damn… I knew that magic can be combined, but…" Jake frowned as he saw iron golems being melted in groups of ten. "That is very different from my combination with Louise."

Jake decided to attack the iron golems that endured with Mana Blades enhanced by the dark flames and then used Master Thief to increase his intelligence. That was really annoying, but it couldn't be helped since he valued his efficiency more than anything.

Much to everyone's surprise, even that group of enemies began to be decimated pretty fast. Probably because Myrna and her people were finally using their trump card. However, things changed when the ground began to tremble and from the underground hideout, some extra large iron golems emerged… the enemy even had the bosses hidden there…

Jake frowned when he saw ten bosses suddenly showing up… he knew that the dungeon master would have a final trick up their sleeve, but he didn't imagine it would be something of that level.

"We can fight better since we aren't in a confined space, but not against so many enemies…" Jake said while he took a step backward. "Should we slowly retreat?"

Jake's instincts were telling him that it was too soon… until the dungeon master showed up, the guys who were hidden would never have the chance to invade the base and free their allies while they cause problems to the enemy. With that in mind, Jake just gritted his teeth and prepared for some serious hardships.

The giant iron golems began to fire their mana cannons toward Jake, and he only moved to the sides to dodge them. Until he approached the connected ones, and they ended up being hit as well… it looked like some stupid AI was controlling those things. Still, once they were hit a massive explosion of mana happened took place in the area and expanded so fast that Jake didn't have time to react…

When the light disappeared, Jake found himself on the ground… his new armor protected him quite a bit. However, the unprotected parts of his body had some serious burn marks.

"Crap…" Jake muttered while trying to get up. "I didn't even have time to feel the pain, but my body still isn't responding well…"

Fortunately, the explosion made the battlefield quite blurry. So, an attack of that level didn't happen soon after. Before the battlefield could get clear again, Myrna and her group created another of those highly concentrated spheres of magic. This time, it was a giant one made of ice.

Jake wondered if he would become a target since he was so close to the enemies, but in the end, the ice sphere only fired massive ice spears toward the enemies. They probably only reacted to massive amounts of mana… regardless, the ice spears not only made the enemies tremble slightly but also covered their bodies with a layer of ice.

"If only I could control my mana like them… this is a weird thought considering that I hate magic," Jake shook his head.

Although Jake was willing to take some shortcuts since the enemies were getting much stronger and he was solo most of the time, he wasn't willing to use magic for that. It was hard to say if he could pull that off with Mana Blade alone, though. Regardless, that was a question for later.

Jake recovered while the enemies were busy thanks to the ice attacks and then he summed another dark flames spear, but this time, he summoned the extra dark version that almost looked like had assumed a completely physical version. While he made the spear spin, Jake felt something on his nose alongside his head splitting… some blood was dropping from it.

That was dangerous… Jake was forcing his brain too much. He couldn't use that kind of thing for too long, so he decided to hurry up. Jake fired the massive spear toward one of the enemies, and the creature used Mana Cannon to resist. However, the flames ignored the mana and eventually pierced the enemy.

The headache was getting worse with every passing moment, so Jake quickly attacked another enemy. As soon as the dark flames spear began to pierce the second target, he got dizzy and lost control of the skill… making the flames dissipate, and that made him get better. At that point in time, Jake could only assume that Flames of Wrath truly summoned his angry thoughts and made them materialize, as crazy as that sounded…

Myrna's group watched Jake's attacks in disbelief. From someone who was almost killed in an explosion of mana, he sure knew how to control his abilities… moreover, to be able to take down two of the bosses like that… he had quite the fearsome power. Regardless, it wasn't time to think about that, their second concentrated spell was about to end, and they had a lot more bosses to deal with. However, something even more troublesome happened… they couldn't take a break…

Another iron golem emerged from the ground behind the battlefield… if the bosses were called super iron golems, then the new enemy could be called mega iron golems. The new creature was fifty meters tall, and it looked like each of its limbs, torso, and head had been made using a super iron golem as a basis… that thing was that big and fearsome. To make matters worse, Jake couldn't use Appraisal on it. That being said, he could see some glowing blue liquid stored in all parts of that thing's body…

"To think that you people would manage to invade my base… and bring a human with you all… you have my admiration."

Jake and the others frowned when that voice came from the mega iron golem… it looked like someone was inside that and controlling the giant robot. It was a pity that the enemy decided to use his knowledge on how to build mechas to capture people. Otherwise, he might have been able to build the next generation of Gundams or Megazord.
