Using magic was so annoying… It was hard to be pleased when they gave me such a good opportunity for Jake. While the monsters couldn't move, he used Boomerang Shield. He beheaded close to fifteen mummies in a quick succession before the shield returned to him.

The same thing happened several times until the monsters realized that getting too close to Jake was useless. Even with gravity magic slowing him down, they couldn't damage him enough with their damaging aura. With that in mind, they used their long-ranged spells. Jake's shield protected him from the attacks coming from behind, but things from the front were a bit more difficult. The mummies were using long ranged attacks, but some were approaching too.

"I am pretty close to the dungeon's entrance, so I can't retreat further since that is the case…" Jake said and then charged.

The corridors weren't that tall either, so Jake couldn't raise his sword that much. Thurst attacks were his best option… with that in mind, Jake began to impale the mummies' heads nonstop. Naturally, after doing that for a while, he reached the other end of the corridor, and the beasts managed to hit him with some poisonous attacks. That didn't stop him, though, so the mummies used their bandages.

"You guys don't know when to give up, huh…" Jake said and then sighed when he felt his strength leaving his body.

The effects of the curse weren't as bad as before since Jake had experienced far worse, and the skill had leveled up a lot. So, he just endured things. Eventually, Jake reached the end of the corridor and saw an army of mummies waiting for him on his right side. At least he knew which direction to go now…

Jake turned to the side and then impaled one of the mummies with his sword, and then he used Frozen Touch. The monster began to freeze while it was dying, so Jake used that corpse to smash against the other beasts. That was an excellent way to protect himself and delay their process of turning into dust.

Jake used the mana he just recovered and then enhanced his sword with Frozen Touch again. He also combined it with Bash, and then he hit the mummies behind. Their bodies froze for a short while, but eventually, they cracked. Jake found another massive wave of monsters dashing toward him when those collapsed. It wasn't like he didn't have experience dealing with the aftermath of dungeon breaks, but it seemed that things there would take more than a while to be finished.

While the monsters were moving toward him, Jake used Flames of Wrather and made them spin in front of him like a giant dark fan. The mummies that got hit by it were chopped into pieces. Jake knew that he had been working on improving that and that mummies were usually weak to fire, but he was honestly impressed.

"Let's use this chance to rest for a bit…" Jake said and then sat on the floor.

Jake put the shield on his right side to block the view of his enemies of him and let the flames do the work. When he lost his focus, the flames lost power and speed, so eventually, he got mentally drained, and he had to return to the fight, but at least he had some half hour of good resting. Hundreds of mummies were killed without him lifting a finger, after all.

Not to mention, that made Jake recall something that could be useful as well for him… when his mind was making the flames lose power, he prepared his next attack: he summoned his lance. He then hit the butt with all his might using the sword. Much faster than a cannonball, the weapon flew for dozens of meters and impaled dozens of zombies.

"Ah, that was refreshing…," Jake said.

Jake repeated those same strategies for quite a while until he lost the count of how many mummies he had killed. Rather than dangerous, clearing the monsters of a dungeon in such a place had been more of an chore than anything. It certainly looked like someone had underestimated him when they prepared those traps.

"I ended up using my innate skills, but it couldn't be helped… This is tiresome," Jake thought. "In any case, I don't have to fear those who rely on ambushes when they have all the advantages on their hands. Cowards are basically worse than weaklings."

Let the cowards and the weaklings prepare ambushes. Jake won't mind. It will be more fun to crush them like that. While he was thinking along those lines, Jake realized that the number of enemies was decreasing. They were appearing less often than before… However, the atmosphere was changing but not improving.

Jake began to recover the shurikens he used and then prepared to fight. He was confident that he could survive and win against that troublesome situation. Still, he couldn't act foolishly and ignore that weird atmosphere.

In the end, Jake heard some footsteps and eventually saw a weird mummy showing up at the end of that corridor. It was essentially the same as the others, but the creature also had a golden crown at the top of its head, and the face of the monster wasn't covered in bandages either, thanks to that, Jake could see the eyes of the beast, and he also could see some knowledge and understanding. That mummy was the same as Vare.
