"The hell… how can a hand like that so easily block my attacks?" Jake thought while frowning.

Jake didn't have time to think about that. One of his most powerful and useful skills barely slowed down that lich, so he truly was in a bind. Despite his rage, the lich wouldn't act foolishly like the other liches. Probably because he could control them. Jake wanted to learn how he managed to control others like that and how he got in his hands that much technology, but it would be hard to say if he would be able to have that much leeway while fighting. Probably he wouldn't...

Even with the effects of his freezing longsword, Jake could feel his health decreasing quite fast, so running away was a waste of time, and he had to do something about it. He learned a long time ago that the best plans were the ones that surprise the enemies in the craziest way possible. So, he took his shield from the magic box and stopped running.

Even while behind the shield, Jake could feel the flames burning his arms, but he insisted on approaching. Until the flames finally stopped, and the lich panicked. He used Flames of Wrath to attack the enemy through his own flames, and he got hit directly. While the lich was using some kind of magic to get rid of the dark flames, Jake jumped with all his might, and once he reached the lich, he tried to run away. However, Jake imagined that he would do that and threw his freezing longsword at the back of the enemy.

The enemy grunted in pain and began to lose altitude thanks to the attack… Jake did well in combining Throw and Bash when he attacked because the tip of the sword barely pierced the lich's flesh.

After landing, Jake jumped again to attack the enemy. Still, the lich recovered and then began to move away before he could reach him. He also tried to remove the sword from his back, but Jake fired some Mana Blades with his katana and forced the lich to stay wary.

Eventually, the rich realized that Jake wouldn't let him take away the sword, so he focused his senses again on using magic. He tried to use Flamethrower, but the spell ended after a single second. It seemed that it would need constant focus to use that, and the pain wasn't helping with it.

"What is wrong? Never fought with a sword pierced on your back?" Jake asked. "You must have an easy life until considering what you are doing with the people of this world. You probably have some reason to hate humans, but you are as crazy as the most jackass of us."

The lich grunted due to the anger and pain and then pointed both hands toward Jake before firing some fireballs. He could fire those pretty fast, so Jake had a hard time dodging and blocking all of them at the same time.

While he was doing that, Jake wondered what he should do to make the enemy get on his range. Just leaping to reach him would be a waste of time since the lich could fly, and he had already escaped his attack before. In the end, he had another risky idea… Jake wondered why he only had that kind of idea… Nevertheless, he decided to pull it off.

Jake waited for the right time, and when the enemy fired two fireballs almost together, he swung his katana to block them and then used Explosive Touch. As one would expect, that raised a curtain of smoke and dust due to the explosion. While it wasn't a large one, it was enough to make Jake disappear. Jake's original plan was to throw his katana toward the enemy, but at the last moment, he used Throw on his shield.

The lich imagined that something like that was supposed to happen, but he didn't expect that the shield would be used like that. In the end, he easily blocked the shield and even held it to make sure that Jake wouldn't be able to use it again. What he didn't expect was the fact that Jake threw his katana as well… and like a boomerang from the sides.

When the lich noticed the weapon, it was too late. It approached from his blind spot and eventually hit his neck and cut it quite a bit. The lich began to lose altitude, and then Jake leaped to attack again, but the lich threw the shield toward him to slow down his approach.

Even Jake was surprised that throwing his katana like that worked so well… he never threw a boomerang in his life, so he couldn't imagine why the heck he suddenly felt like he should do that. In any case, he recovered the shield that had been thrown at him, and when he was about to charge again at the lich, who was now standing on the ground, he saw him throwing the katana at him as well. Jake dodged the attack instead of trying to grab the weapon, and he did well because the weapon soon fell to the ground and pierced it deeply as if it was weighing tons…

"He used his debuffs on the katana…" Jake thought.

Jake had two options now, wait for his weapon to return to normal and give the lich the chance to recover and pull the freezing sword out of his back or attack with his shield or his bows. Finishing things off with the bow wouldn't be his style. But he tried anyway. Giving a chance to that bastard to recover would be insanity.

Jake began to fire Stunning Arrows repeatedly with the remaining mana that he had. Still, while he barely could follow the projectiles with his eyes, the lich could do that easily and blocked all of them with a single hand while he was pulling the freezing longsword from his back…
