Jake dashed toward the enemies when they were only a few meters away from him. They were mages to their very cores, so they didn't have a fast reaction time, and Jake used that advantage to the fullest. He beheaded three of them with his swords and the other four with Mana Blades before they could point their wands toward him. He didn't stop there, though.
Before one of the corpses could fall, Jake used it to block the attacks from behind while he used his swords to fire Mana Blades toward the others in front of him that was already firing their spells. While Mana Blades didn't repel those, Jake's sword managed to block them. However, they also got heavier with each block.
"Shit… this isn't good," Jake thought and then charged toward a group of enemies.
After leaving the corpse behind, Jake used Cyclone Strike to cut down four liches at the same time. They were almost split in half, so it hearts or not, they couldn't resist that. In any case, after crossing the whole group, Jake didn't have to worry about being attacked from all sides, so he moved backward while using one of the corpses as a shield. When some liches tried to move around him, he attacked them with Mana Blades.

"They are really mad… they don't stop no matter how many of them I kill," Jake thought.
The body Jake was using as a shield was getting heavier, but his swords began to get lighter, so the effects didn't last forever. Thanks to that, he managed to kill all of those guys without suffering too much damage. However, all the noise caused by them eventually alerted the nearby liches, and Jake could hear hundreds of them moving and preparing to fight. He also saw the capsules opening… someone opened those and was planning to make Jake fight an army by himself.
"Well, it is time for the original plan…" Jake thought.
Jake began to run toward the entrance of that hideous. As expected, the liches that were performing the surgeries tried to block his path, but Jake killed most of them by using Mana Blades. The others that managed to dodge his attacks and attack at the same time were completely ignored since Jake used his speed and Hermes' Blessing to outspeed them. He barely had any mana left when he reached his destination. So, he hurried to drink some since he could sense the enemies trying to chase him.
Jake welcomed them with Cyclone Strike to the face when the first guys showed up. Putting aside how bloody that situation was, Jake liked things that way. Using Mana Blade was too easy, after all. Besides, the tunnel wasn't that large, so he didn't have to worry about fighting more than two or three of them at a time.
Some purple spheres flew to his face, but Jake lowered his posture and dodged them. When they aimed at his legs, Jake jumped, and then he moved forward to slice the enemies up. They sure insisted on attacking his legs and head… probably because the central area of the place hit would get heavier… it would be quite troublesome if Jake were to be crushed by the weight of his head, and it wouldn't be funny.
Eventually, some purple spheres hit his shoulder, and he felt his senses numbering there. At the same time, he felt them getting heavier… a double way to make sure that he couldn't use his arm. Getting hit in the legs would make him unable to move, even by a single shot. Getting hit in the head might make him fall unconscious instantly as well…
"Oh, boy… it would be better if I had to fight without knowing that," Jake said and then smirked. "You guys sure have some nasty skills."
Despite his words, Jake didn't back down. In fact, he fought even more aggressively than before. The liches had many chances to attack him, but they never hit him again, and eventually, Jake recovered his senses on his shoulder. His fighting speed increased again, but then suddenly and much to his surprise… The liches began to back down.
"What the…" Jake muttered.
Jake killed the few that were blocking his path and prepared to chase the others, but then he felt the atmosphere changing. Something had happened inside the hideout, something that made the liches escape… His senses told him to move away from the tunnel, and so Jake obeyed them. Soon after, a cloaked figure left the tunnel while flying.
"Another human… Another human!" The cloaked figure said in a menacing tone. "I will wipe you all out!"
"Don't blame all of us for the crimes of a few, jackass," Jake said.

"The fact that your species produced so much scum is proof enough that you all deserve to die!" The cloaked figure said.
"You won't convince me with just that. Give me more details," Jake said.
Jake only wanted more intel. He wasn't interested in the sob story of the enemy. He was going to clear the quest in one way or the other, after all. Unfortunately, the enemy wasn't interested in talking, so it pointed its left hand toward him and then used Flamethrower. Jake clicked his tongue, and then he moved away in the opposite direction. However, the leader of the liches followed him.
"I guess I was lucky not to fight any flying enemies this troublesome until now…" Jake thought.
That guy also could fly pretty fast, so the flames were quickly catching up with Jake. He quickly pointed his sword toward the enemy and then used Mana Blade, but then the creature just used a single and pretty skinny hand to block it… it was almost only bones.
