Chapter 436 436: The Northern Campaign VI
Cole had come to the conclusion that this girl probably had a few screws loose in her head. But never the less this was a delicate situation, but it did not seem like she was here for a negotiation of any sort and that was worrying.
Perhaps he had been relying on his reputation a little too much but this girl had absolutely no fear of him, which means he could not intimidate her. And even if Cole was extremely powerful he was not all powerful, heck he was barely scratching the surface of true power.
He did not think he would be able to make it in time, but Cassandra did not look like she gave a shit. The woman started marching towards the wall, much to the surprise of everyone here.
"Hey! Tell your bitch to stay back or I will blow his brains out!" Tiana yelled, and frankly speaking Cole felt annoyed. This was literal the equivalent of giving nuclear launch codes to a 7 year old, Tiana was crazy!
"If you lay a single finger on my son….."
"What? What? You kill break me to pieces, hurt me? " Cassandra only chuckled as she shook her head and pulled her bow out, her tattoos glowing as her eyes took on a shade of red and gold and her form seemed to grow a few inches taller, and the horns on her head grew even larger.
"No- I'm going to fucking kill you. " the way Cassandra had said it had made it obvious that there was absolutely no room for interpretation. She wasn't bluffing, as sure as the sun would rise in the east, Cassandra would kill Tiana if the girl did anything stupid.
"What do you want?" Cole asked, she hadn't killed Razor or Pasco yet, so that meant she wanted something. As long as she was still willing to talk, then Cole can find a way to close the distance and destabilize the weapons being used against them, chief amongst them being the repeater ballistae the size of a kayak.
But Cole did not need anybody to tell him that the ballistae was definitely not the normal kind that they all knew about. This girl was prepared for his arrival, the energy coming off her body alone was enough to touch his own, yet there was something wrong about it.
"What I want is for you to take a loss you know, the Guilds hired me to make a point and fuck up the king for thinking he can go against them. But since it was you, I told them I was going to do it for free." Cole cocked his head to the side.
"Let me get this straight, I paid you for information and then you tried to kill me, or rather have me transformed into some sort of half man half machine monstrosity without any of my facilities available.
Then I come back, get my revenge and since then instead of you to be satisfied with the fact I didn't expose the fact an underage freak was playing a game way above your age grade, you developed a fixation on me and irrationally validate your hatred for me, for a situation you cause!... seriously? How much of a child are you? "
There was silence across the battlefield, Cole did not even need to see it. The scent of embarrassment was so heavy from all the way across the battlefield to the walls. Everyone around her seemed to find something else more interesting to focus on.
*Bang!*
The sound of the gun seemed to run endlessly in his ears as Cole watched a headless corpse fall of the wall, smashing into the ground, creating and even bigger splash that painted the wall.
Cassandra small scream was the only thing that was heard after, but it was cut short halfway. And just enough for Cole to realize that the person in pieces on the ground was Pasco not Razor.
But that did not even make it any less better, Cole had plans for that man. And him just dying like this was stupid and not right. Cole looked at Tiana and growled out in anger and rage. She had successfully gotten him angry and he was almost at a tipping point.
"I see that now I have your attention, which is good. This was a waste of a good seedling for my Revenant faction. But never the less I am sure you now know that I am not fucking around Cole!"
"No…..I guess you're not."
"Exactly now you're going to-"
"BOOM!"
The wall underneath her exploded, she was fast, she had almost not been fast enough to evade Cole's attack. Cole shook his head and pulled himself out of the wreckage,
The Ballistae's seemed to have a mind of their own as they as one turned and fired at Cole. He moved to the side, but he was not fast enough to move out of the way, for some reason he was much slower than normal.
A massive arrow was fired from one of the ballistae, it went clean through Cole, flinging his body into the air and then bringing him down on his back. He rolled out of the way, leaving a trail of blood behind as Sigil underneath him lit up brightly, sucking and sapping at his strength at an extremely rapidly pace.
And that was when he understood, it seems all of this had all been a carefully well sprung trap. Whatever these Sigil re, they were weakening his strength and sapping him of his energy. It was becoming more and more harder to move his body even. He heard Tiana's voice once again, but this time she was nowhere to be seen.
"See, I told you not to joke with me. Did you think I was just some child who didn't know what she was doing? Please I have been watching and following your every move, I know what you are capable of, and know exactly how to trap you. I'm like a spider Cole, I have more webs than you and it has reached a lot of people and many of them want you dead.
Finding a trap that can hold and weakness you long enough for us to kill you, and Believe me this time there would be no extra life! You'd be dead down to your very soul. And there's not a single thing you can do about it." Tiana said, but Cole was done listening, whatever this was that she was using to restrain him, they seek to follow a sort of energy outlaid in the Sigils.
Cole already had extensive arcane and occultist knowledge and magical formulas as a system reward after he had taken down Titus the goblin. However that was not a part of his abilities that was well known, hence Tiana never suspected that Cole would swap out half the sigils with just a few probably there and there, Cole took control of the entire siege.
The Ballistae' were unmanned and apart helping to maintain it and restock its ammunition, there were no other people around it. Somehow the trigger to the ballistae seemed to be the same energy lines they're using to weaken him.
With a flex of his wheel, the Ballistae turned around and began to open fire into the city behind it, aiming for and only, for the Northerners and any revenant that gets in their way.
From there it did not take much for Cole to swing the bloody doors open, his unit did not stand on ceremony as they too pressed the charge, hurrying down to do battle.
Now Cole's job was just to wait, but he kept on trying to figure how to ensure all of the heat was placed firmly upon his shoulders, that way no one gets hurt and but all hurt anyways .
*Bang! Bang!"
Right in front of Cole, Tiana had appeared and gave Cole a wide smile before pointing a hand a sort of medallion at him. He didn't need anyone to tell him that this thing was dangerous even for him.
But the Medallion was smoking, which means it was Jerome who just first these shots now…..but at who? He turned around and the massive hole in Razor's chest and his vacant eyes staring right back at him, frozen in anguish and fear.
"I told you….. you should take me seriously!" Cole chuckled to no one in particular as he finally said to her, tearing his pained gaze away from Razor.
"You said that I should take you seriously, very well then. As of today Tiana whatever the fuck you name is nowadays. As of today you have my attention, right now I will fight you, with all of my strength, today is the last day you will spend in Te Boreas." Cole said to her as [Black Malakai] thrummed in his hand, eating or his master's excess negative emotion. But regardless of the outcome, Cole was going to kill Tiana and he was going to do it before he left the sixth floor for good. Either ways…. It's time to fight.
