Chapter 919: I Wish Her The Best

The Jorbin triplets gasped after hearing what Miss Yvonne had disclosed whereas a glint of understanding flashed across Rika Kiron’s eyes.

“Is that why Miss Elna was inquiring about this...?” She mumbled and soon nodded as everything was now making sense to her.

Feeling the numerous inquisitive gazes landing on her in the next second, Rika who had not been a part of this group until now, decided to disclose what had taken place earlier.

__

After entering the Banquet Hall, she had found her close friend Glennise and headed over to where she was.

Since her elder sister was with the Jorbin triplets and their elder brother, Jacob, Rika did not have to worry about leaving Aleena alone as she had people to accompany her.

Hence she went to greet and spend time with her friend but was soon disturbed when a few young girls had joined them.

.....

Among them was Elna who had come forward to improve her relationship with the Duke’s only daughter, Glennise Brodie.

Since there was obvious discord between Elna and her elder sister, Rika wasn’t too active in the conversation that followed but was only a silent spectator as she observed the girls who had joined them.

Hence she could see things clearer from the perspective of the outsider who wasn’t a part of that conversation.

“Miss Elna kept asking who from the Royal family would be joining the celebration.” She revealed to the group she was now with.

Back then, Glennise had not mentioned much as she too wasn’t sure.

The girls had not met the Princess yesterday and this morning as well due to the busy atmosphere in the Palace as preparations for the King’s birthday were in full swing.

Therefore, the Princess’ playmates also did not know who would be joining this celebration as the Princess had also been secretive about her itinerary.

Miss Glennise had given the same response to Elna who was silent for a second before resuming their conversation as though this answer had not affected her too much.

However, after her elder sister had pointed it out, Rika finally discovered the reason that query had been made.

By now, it wasn’t just Rika but even Yvonne and the Jorbin triplets had also reached the same conclusion.

They had earlier assumed that Elna wished to display her elegance and perfect appearance since this was a special event.

No girl had attended this event ever before so she wished to make this occasion one to remember by dressing up to the best of her abilities.

However, that deduction of theirs had vanished and a newer speculation one had taken root in their minds.

Miss Elna had put in her best effort not for the King’s celebration but with the hopes of getting to meet the King’s younger brother.

Learning that she was eager to portray herself in a pleasant manner before a certain prince, Yvonne rolled her eyes once again.

‘She doesn’t know what she is getting herself into...’ The little girl who had a good idea of what the future held in store for them was not as amused as the other girls standing with her right now.

While Aleena was whispering that Elna was aiming too high, Yvonne was wondering how things could end badly for the other girl if she continued on this same path.

‘That man had eyes only for one person.’ She recalled and shook her head, pitying Elna for what she was getting herself into.

If this was just a childish wish of Elna’s that might disappear soon then everything would be fine.

Though if this turned out to be an adamant desire to get closer to the future Grand Duke then Yvonne could only feel sorry for her.

There was only heartbreak and pain ahead for whoever aimed to gain the title of the Grand Duchess in the future.

‘And I plan to steer clear of that path at all costs.’ She furrowed her brows as she reminded herself of what might be in store for her if she followed the path that had been written in the script.

Thinking of the script, Yvonne cursed not only the man who was supposed to be her husband in it but also the divine being who had written it in the first place.

“Well, I wish her the best.” She muttered when her anger aimed at those two individuals had subsided after grumbling inwardly to her heart’s content.

Her wish wasn’t just for Elna’s success in what she might be planning in relation to that prince but also for her happiness, hoping that she would give up before she got her heart broken in her pursuit for his attention.

However, her words gained a different meaning when they reached the ears of the girls around them.

“Yes, she will be needing it.” Aleena snorted while the other girls simply did their best to withhold the snickers that were about to slip out of their mouths.

To them, it sounded as though Miss Yvonne was being sardonic and was mocking Miss Elna for hoping to achieve the unthinkable.

Following this they continued their conversation in hushed whispers, making it hard for Yvonne to correct the misunderstanding they seemed to have formed.

However, realizing that there was no way she could explain what she truly meant when she had wished Elna the best, this little girl shrugged and chose to remain silent instead.

___

Back at the balcony, the entire conversation that had taken place between this group of girls had coincidentally fallen into the ears of the one they had been talking about.

Their speculations about one young miss hoping to gain his attention seemed like a far-fetched idea to him.

He had never met this girl nor had she ever laid eyes on him so the chances of their assumptions being right were too low in his sights.

More than the fact that he had somehow managed to become a topic of gossip, Prince Draco had his emerald eyes fixed on only one of the girls present in the group.

The frown she had before she pursed her lips, the numerous eye rolls, and finally the intense anger that had radiated from her which lasted for just a few moments.

He had caught everything, making him wonder if there was something wrong.

Her demeanor had been mild and surprisingly even pleasant as she conversed with the other girls earlier.

However, the moment his name had been mentioned, he had seen her facial expressions shift at an impeccable speed.

Nevertheless, he had no way of knowing how he could have offended her when they had never been officially introduced to each other in the first place.

While he was still thinking of what could have caused her to react in such a hostile manner to his name, he heard the mutter that had slipped out of her lips.

Unlike the girls with her who had labeled her words to be sarcastic, he could tell with just a glance that she sincerely meant every word she had uttered.

Contrary to their expressions which combined mischief and mockery, Prince Draco’s eyes darkened when a strange sense of unease spread within.

He then watched as she shrugged at their similar responses before she lowered her presence in that group.

However, her voice as she wished another young girl luck with regard to him continued to echo in his ears.

He could not decipher why he was feeling this way but he was certain that he did not like the sound of those words which were now repeating uninterruptedly in his mind.

Thankfully, before he found himself drowning in a trance, he heard a loud voice that succeeded in attracting his attention right away.

___

Yvonne had no clue that the ‘future husband’ she had just cursed along with a certain Bird God had witnessed everything that she had just said and done in the last many minutes.

Had she known that she was so close to the one she desperately wished to never meet then her current sense of calm would have been shaken already.

However, as she was blissfully unaware, she remained standing still in her group which had moved on to a different topic.

Nevertheless, their conversation soon came to an end as an announcement was made, dragging them out of their pleasant atmosphere.

As the voice of the Royal Chamberlain declared that the protagonist of this evening’s event would soon be entering the Banquet Hall, there was a veil of silence that enshrouded the entire area.

The announcement had been made ahead of time to give the guests a chance to compose themselves before they could welcome the one who would be entering next.

Therefore, the groups that had been formed until now separated in no time.

The youngsters had already been instructed on how to behave so they headed toward their parents the moment they heard this announcement.

Yvonne too had been asked to return to the Earl’s side as soon as the King’s arrival was announced so she bid her friends goodbye before walking toward her parents.

The others did the same and rushed back to wherever their parents were as no mistakes would be tolerated when the King arrived.

In no time, the nobles who had been scattered in different areas of the Banquet Hall stood facing the elevated platform where the Throne had been placed.

The King and the other members of the Royal family would be arriving from the entrance next to this platform so they made sure to look their best for those who would be here soon.

Even Yvonne, who had been calm until now, felt her body stiffening up at the thought of meeting not just one but many members of the Rosenhyde Royal family all at once.

Noticing her stiff appearance, Rutherford chuckled inwardly when he realized that even she could get nervous at times.

Therefore, to help relieve some of that anxiety, the father carefully patted her head while making sure to not ruin the work her maids had put into styling it.

“Papa is right here.” He whispered in the softest voice just as the Chamberlain announced the King’s arrival.
