Chapter 553 - Yvonne's Observations

When Yvonne opened her eyes once again, she found herself back in the picnic spot where she had fallen asleep.

Raising her hand, she glanced at her tiny hand and wriggled her stubby fingers.

Those long and slender fingers she had seen before were gone and so was the palm print from the slap she had seen and felt before.

Staring at her hand was something she had learned to do which helped her differentiate between the dreams she saw and the reality she lived each day.

Over the past many months, she had seen numerous such dreams which depicted the daily life of 'Yvonne' from the script.

She could feel everything that 'Yvonne' felt at that given time and also could hear her inner thoughts.

Most of these dreams were like an out-of-body experience for her.

This was due to the fact that while she was witnessing Yvonne's life in the script, she could also see what was happening around her.

Even the things that 'Yvonne' had failed to witness in that incident, the little girl was capable of observing them.

For example, when she had seen 'Yvonne' and Topher's encounter by the waterfall in the Valente estate, the lady had left the area already but the little girl was still able to see the gloomy face of the man whose feelings were not reciprocated.

Therefore, it was clear to her that while she could experience the event in the script through 'Yvonne's' perspective, she could also see things that 'Yvonne' had missed.

To prove this fact further, the little girl had seen something that 'Yvonne' had missed during the coming-of-age ceremony event.

The snort that had resounded in the room when the Crown Prince was mocked had come from someone unexpected.

'The heir of the Brodie family.' She recalled the face of the handsome yet taciturn man who had danced with Glennise in her dream.

None of those present there had noticed it but the little girl watching the entire show had seen him cover his mouth almost immediately to conceal his misconduct before someone else could find fault with him.

This made her smirk as he was different from what she had read about him in the script.

The man who was said to be loyal to the Prince had chuckled when he was mocked, which was amusing to Yvonne now that she was thinking about it.

'A lot of discrepancies from what Asmodeus wrote in his script.' She sneered at the blue bird who had skipped mentioning so many details which could have made the story more engaging and entertaining.

Another aspect she had witnessed which 'Yvonne' had failed to see were two familiar faces attending the ball.

In an area where a few men had gathered, Yvonne had caught sight of her elder brother standing with the elder son of the Tanner family.

'Ah… He would be the only son in that dream.' Yvonne grimaced as in the dream, Taylor Tanner had already succumbed to the plague along with his mother and uncle.

She sighed as she had diverted that sad fate from occurring in this life and was glad that she had done so.

Returning to her thoughts regarding the dream that she had seen, she had noticed how the moment the Prince had slapped Yvonne's hand, those two men had widened their eyes and anger flashed in them.

She was sure that in the script, Howard did not have a good relationship with his sister but she could tell that he still cared for her.

The moment the sound of the slap echoed, Topher was about to rush to save her but Howard had stopped him.

While his own fists were clenched in fury at what had just happened, he knew that they could not step up now.

The one they would have to face was the Crown Prince and making an enemy out of him was never a good option.

Topher knew this but the emotional part of his brain was trumping the rational part.

Yet now, after Howard's intervention, all they could do was watch in silence while glaring at the man who had done something so ungentlemanlike.

Thankfully, Yvonne did not suffer a loss as the Princess and Lady Glennise had stepped up to her aid and even the King had come to intervene.

They knew that the King favored his daughter and the girls with her, therefore, they smirked when they caught sight of the Prince's souring face when the Royal Steward had made an appearance.

___

Yvonne snickered when she thought of that memory.

'So Howard was a true Tsundere even in the script.' She declared after recalling that incident.

In the script, the siblings never reconciled, yet he had shown displeasure when his sister was mistreated by the Prince.

This proved that though they did not have a good relationship, he did not hate her to the extent where he would want to see her being harmed.

Yvonne sighed while shaking her head for she had witnessed too many things in that dream.

However, there was one thing that she was completely sure of.

'The Female lead was not a good person.' She frowned at Asmodeus' choice of the leading character of his script.

The very first dream she had after coming to this world was of how the leads had met each other.

In that incident, Hilda, the female lead, lied to the Crown Prince who was pretending to be a stable boy in the St. Claire's estate.

When Hilda was asked if she was the one who had saved him, she gave him a positive answer and accepted the credit for something that she had not done.

This was enough for Yvonne to conclude that she did not like this Female lead right from the very beginning.

Moving out of her thoughts about her dislike for Asmodeus' choice, she turned her attention to another matter.

While 'Yvonne' did not know the reason for the Prince's strange behavior towards Lady Hilda, she was well aware of everything thanks to her knowledge of the script which she had read and studied thoroughly in her previous life.

Therefore, she tried to recall what had taken place before the Prince came forward to ask Lady Hilda for a dance.

'From what was written in the script, that juvenile Prince sees Hilda dancing with her father, the Baron, and freezes in place.' She mulled over what was written in Asmodeus' script.

At that time, Prince Fritzen recalls the face of the gardener's daughter who had saved him from drowning in the stream back at the St. Claire estate.

Her fluffy brown hair was her signature look which helped the Prince recognize her at one glance.

'That was also how Yvonne in the script remembered her so-called friend.' The little girl sneered at the friendship which did not last for long.

Therefore, the Prince forgot about escorting his sister for the second dance and headed towards the one whom he recalled as his savior.

Fortunately, she had no dance partner for the second dance and was glad and nervous to accept his offer.

Once the dance came to an end, he escorted Hilda to the balcony as he had too many doubts that needed to be cleared.

At that place, the prince questioned if she remembered her.

{Do you remember how you saved me from drowning in the stream?}

This question had stunned Hilda for a second before she recollected the past.

At that time, she had lied as her father was the one who had saved the stable boy and brought him to their home to warm him up.

'It was Yvonne who saved him.' The little girl sneered at the misunderstanding that had never been cleared until the very end of the script.

Hilda had been under the impression that the Prince had asked her for a dance due to her pretty appearance but now it seemed that she had been conceited to think this way.

It was the mistaken identity of the savior which had led the Prince to strike a conversation with her and ask her for the dance.

However, Hilda did not wish to reveal that he had recognized the wrong person.

She was sure that in his mind, she was his savior so she did nothing to correct him.

{How could I forget about Sir Frit?}

She answered while calling him with the name that he had revealed in the past, strengthening his belief that he had found the right person after all these years.

Fritzen was so happy to reunite with her that he lost his senses and pulled her into his embrace.

When he realized what he had done, he apologized and looked away while changing the topic.

At that moment, he did not notice the red cheeks of the lady who was beginning to fall in love with him due to his actions.

'So irresponsible!' Yvonne scoffed while reminiscing about the script.

The Prince then went on to question why he had been unable to find her throughout these years.

He had been looking for her but no matter how much his men searched, they found no traces of the gardener and his family.

This was when Hilda revealed the sad life that she had been living until now.

The money that had appeared on their doorstep one day made them relocate to a fief far away from the St. Claire's.

{So I was the reason why…}

Fritzen's mutter went unheard from the Lady but Yvonne had understood what he meant.

It was the gold that he and his uncle had left there which the gardener used to fund their travel and also build a new business.

Hilda continued about how she lived a happy life with them but the plague snatched everything away from her.

For years she lived on the streets with nothing to eat until one day, the Gods pitied her once again.

She met her biological mother by accident and was brought back to the fief where she was born.

As it turned out, she was the daughter of a noble family but when she was just a child, an enemy of her family had snatched her and tossed her away.

But by some stroke of luck, she had been adopted by the gardener and did not die as a child.

After reuniting with her biological parents, she was told that she was the daughter of a Baron in the south and thus was able to attend this event with her true identity as a noble lady.

The Prince felt pity for her sad life and promised to protect her from all dangers on that balcony.

However, when they returned to the hall, she was harmed and he had not been able to save her which had led to everything that had taken place after that.

'So poor Yvonne had to bear the brunt of his inability to keep his worthless promise.' The little girl sighed at the sad fate of the rest who were only used to accentuate the good relationship between the male and female leads.
