Chapter 338 – A Deeper Love

Guan Zijue smirked. “How about you help me take a look then? I heard the villagers call you a miracle doctor!”

Gu Yi’an said, “I can’t cure your mental illness!”

Guan Zijue then took a seat on the sofa nearby, falling silent.

After a while of silence, Gu Yi’an packed up and made to leave.

“What are you doing?”

“I don’t have time for you. I have lessons now!”

Guan Zijue stood up and asked in confusion, “Lessons?”

He thought that Gu Yi’an meant he was taking lessons from someone else.

Knowing that he had misunderstood, Gu Yi’an explained, “I’m the teacher. You can stay here if you like!”

He then left without a second word with Guan Zijue following closely behind.

Gu Yi’an turned back, annoyed.

“What are you doing, Guan Zijue?”

“Following you to class!”

Gu Yi’an was speechless, but he eventually allowed Guan Zijue to follow him to class.

One would see a charming, refined man making his way to the school while another handsome, well-built man followed a short distance behind him. It was as if the man behind was afraid of losing sight of the person in front.

Guan Zijue took in the state of the dilapidated-looking school building when they arrived.

He had no idea that there were actually children who did not have access to proper facilities, and he couldn’t believe that it was a criminal boss like Gu Yi’an who was actually kind enough to provide resources for these children.

Why did such a kind soul have to receive so much criticism from society!

Gu Yi’an frowned and turned to see Guan Zijue standing right there.

“Guan Zijue, could you stop following me?!”

“I’m just touring the school. How does that bother you? Or are you too distracted by my presence?”

“I don’t know what you’re talking about!”

“Is that so!”

Guan Zijue thus followed Gu Yi’an to class and sat at the back while he taught the eager students.

Guan Zijue acted like he was a student as he watched Gu Yi’an’s every move.

Who can make him leave!

Though annoyed, Gu Yi’an was able to push through the entire class as he watched the innocent faces on the children.

He then returned to his clinic to pack up after class. It was evening by now and the weather was much cooler.

He usually slept in the clinic in the small room attached to the back. However, there was only one bed and the space was barely enough for two grown men. Being in a small, enclosed space with Guan Zijue was the last thing he wanted right now.

He was reminded of what happened with Guan Zijue the last time they met.

He had never seen Guan Zijue act like that, and it shocked him.

While Gu Yi’an was making the bed, Guan Zijue stood at the door looking like a hurt animal.

Gu Yi’an wanted to ignore him, but he couldn’t bear seeing Guan Zijue like that.

He finally asked, “Why are you watching me?”

“Where do I sleep tonight?”

Right, where is he supposed to sleep tonight?

Gu Yi’an answered in frustration, “What has that got to do with me? You settle it on your own!”

He then shut the door, trying to ignore everything that was happening outside.

However, Gu Yi’an couldn’t sleep. He saw a dark figure standing outside from his room, and he started to feel bad.

After some time, Gu Yi’an decided to go out and take a look.

However, there was not a soul to be found.

He switched on the lights and looked around the clinic. Guan Zijue seemed to have disappeared into thin air.

Gu Yi’an took out a torchlight and walked out of the clinic.

He walked to Guan Zijue’s vehicle but did not find him inside it. He then continued on his search. He spotted a figure standing under the huge tree near the entrance of the village. He realized it was Guan Zijue upon closer look.

He walked up and asked, “What are you doing here?”

Guan Zijue turned around and said, “Thinking about things!”

“Why can’t you think inside? Why do you have to come out here? Don’t you know that there may be wolves prowling at night? Also, it’s so cold out! What are you even thinking! Guan Zijue, are you trying to make me worry about you!”

In response to Gu Yi’an’s questions, Guan Zijue asked, “Do you even care?”

“Huh!” Gu Yi’an was stunned. What is he even saying?

“Do you care whether I’m in danger or if I’m unwell?”

“I...” Gu Yi’an was rendered speechless.

Do I care? Of course. Why else would I come out here in the middle of the night! But how do I tell him that?

“You don’t even know the answer! Ping’an, is it really me, or are you the one trying to ignore me? I think you know the answer to that!”

Gu Yi’an scratched his head and decided to return to his clinic.

Disappointment flashed across Guan Zijue’s eyes.

“I was wrong!”

Gu Yi’an froze.

“Yes! I was wrong. I shouldn’t have forced you into things that day when we met. But, Gu Yi’an, you know how much I love you. And I hate it that you faked your death. Do you know how much pain I had to go through in these few years! Gu Yi’an, do you even have a heart?”

Am I really a cruel person? No. Otherwise, I wouldn’t have faked my death and risked my life to that extent. I wouldn’t have done that if it were simply for the honor of the Guan family.

It was for Guan Zijue that I did all that. I wouldn’t choose to live in obscurity otherwise.

Gu Yi’an thus decided to talk to Guan Zijue about this since he had already brought it up.

“You say that I’m cruel, but do you really think that I faked my death just to avoid you? No! I don’t have to do that if that was my aim! I wouldn’t have done that for anyone else but you! My identity would have affected your career, and I wouldn’t have disappeared into obscurity if it wasn’t for you! I’ve never said that I don’t love you! I said all that to make you give up on me at the time. You’re the only one I’ve ever loved!”

Guan Zijue had no idea that Gu Yi’an felt so deeply for him.

He looked at Gu Yi’an and asked, “So it’s not that you don’t love me, but you’re afraid that your identity might affect me? I can protect you now! I worked towards being a general because I wanted to be stronger, so that I can protect those I love. You’re the one I care about the most. Did you ask for my opinion when you decided on things? You said you did all that to protect me. I would do everything I can to protect you too! I’m a man, and I want to protect my lover.”
