Chapter 48: Chapter 47 “When are we leaving?” (Seeking Chase Reading)

“Is it too early?”

Milton Cheney spoke softly.

He wasn’t resisting the idea of touring the kingdom, nor was he afraid.

As a Grand Knight, Milton was confident that there were few people in the kingdom who could threaten him.

There were only so many Grand Knights in the entire Frostwinter Kingdom.

He felt it was too early because in the Frostwinter Kingdom, offspring of big families typically chose to tour the kingdom only after they had come of age. Adulthood in the Frostwinter Kingdom was defined as twenty years old.

And currently, Milton was just eighteen!

“You’re saying you’re too young, aren’t you? Have you ever thought about what others were doing when they were eighteen? They cannot be compared to you.” “Do you think everyone becomes a Grand Knight at eighteen like you?”

Earl Arthur knew very well what was on Milton’s mind, hence, he spoke in a somewhat teasing manner.

Milton was like an uncut jade gem in his eyes.

Even though Milton was already a Grand Knight, Earl Arthur still considered him as raw jade.

That’s because he believed Milton’s future held much more than just being a Grand Knight.

An eighteen-year-old Grand Knight, what an extraordinary Knight Talent!

The realm of an Epic Knight might seem like an insurmountable chasm for all knights.

But for those gifted talents, this depth is just a barrier they can break with ease.

Earl Arthur believed that Milton was one of those gifted talents, and he did not think Milton couldn’t become an Epic Knight.

However, if Milton came to know about his thoughts, he might feel a bit embarrassed.

After all, he knew his own situation well. He was far from being a gifted talent.

If he had to define himself, he could be considered as an ordinary talent at best.

In fact, Earl Arthur had his own selfish reasons for wanting Milton to tour the kingdom.

If Milton were just an Official Knight, he would not agree even if it was Milton who proposed to tour the kingdom.

He’d want Milton to manage some of the family’s estates first and defer the trip till after Milton turned of age.

But now, Milton was already a Grand Knight.

He believed that there were very few in the kingdom who could threaten Milton, which is why he had this idea.

There was another reason.

That was, he knew about his eldest son, Nicholas’s condition. He understood that everything of the family might ultimately have to be handed over to Milton.

But to inherit the aristocratic title and the family, touring the kingdom was inevitable.

After all, how could someone properly control an entire family without understanding the kingdom they belonged to?

Earl Arthur merely wanted to expedite this process.

And while Milton didn’t understand all of Earl Arthur’s thoughts, he knew his father wanted him to tour the kingdom. So now he faced two options.

“To go or not to go.”

Looking into Earl Arthur’s expectant eyes, Milton pondered.

Touring the kingdom had its advantages, and so did staying at the estate.

Touring the kingdom could broaden his horizons, allowing him to truly understand this world.

After coming to this world, Milton had spent most of his time within the Far East Territory of the Golden Lion Family.

But staying at the estate would provide stability.

With the threat of the Black Robe Seekers’ Club no longer present, the simulation once a month might allow him to truly peek into the mysterious Wizard Path.

After some thought, Milton finally nodded his head.

“When do we leave?”

“This month!”

Hearing Milton’s words, Earl Arthur replied emphatically.

Milton eventually chose to tour the kingdom because he realized he seemed to have fallen into a fallacy of thought.

Staying at the estate allowed him to simulate, but so did touring the kingdom.

The Simulator was not bound here, it wouldn’t stop working if he was not here.

If the Simulator really was bound to one location, then naturally Milton wouldn’t venture out till he was invincible.

But his Simulator could be used everywhere. Touring the kingdom would not interfere with his simulations.

Another reason was that he would have to tour the kingdom sooner or later.

Because he was now a Grand Knight, his father, Earl Arthur, would not agree to him staying at the estate forever.

If he could achieve both, then why not?

After he made his decision, Arthur began telling Milton about things he needed to be cautious of when touring the kingdom.

Milton listened carefully. He knew these were the experiences of his father when he himself toured the kingdom.

Time passed, and Earl Arthur said a lot, while Milton quietly listened on the side.

“Those are the points you’d generally need to keep in mind. Of course, these are just from experience. When you’re actually touring the kingdom, the only one you can rely on is yourself.”

These words were spoken very earnestly and sternly by Earl Arthur.

“I understand!”

Milton responded softly.

The phrase he’d told William, “A fledgling will never become a mighty eagle under an eagle’s wing, ” seemed to come into fruition now.

This tour of the kingdom, without protection, he could only rely on himself.

But Milton did not seem to have any other emotions.

If he had to say, he might be a little expectant, looking forward to this trip across the kingdom.

“Alright, you may go now. In the next few days, I’ll arrange some things for you.”

Earl Arthur spoke, the seriousness on his face replaced by a relaxed expression.

Milton nodded, bid farewell to Earl Arthur, and left the Golden Lion Estate.

Seeing Milton leave, Earl Arthur resumed watering the flowers.

It showed that his mood was quite good at the moment.

As he watered the flowers, he also pondered about what he should prepare for his son.

You obviously wouldn’t go touring the kingdom unprepared.

Some preparation was necessary, and some things were indispensable.

Unimportant things could be left behind, but one thing must be carried along.

That thing was money, also called Gold Coins.

The currency of the Frostwinter Kingdom could be divided into Copper Coins, Silver Coins, and Gold Coins.

One Silver Coin was equivalent to ten Copper Coins, and one Gold Coin was equivalent to ten Silver Coins.

Then there was a special item—Gold Voucher.

The Gold Voucher had a denomination. For instance, a 100-denominated Gold

Voucher could be exchanged for 100 Gold Coins at any bank in the kingdom.

Compared to Gold Coins, Gold Vouchers were easier to carry, and since they were issued by the Frostwinter Royal House, they were naturally recognized by all banks in the kingdom.

“How much should I prepare?”

“How about starting with 200,000?”

As he was watering the plants, Earl Arthur pondered.

On the other hand, Milton, who had left the Golden Lion Estate, was also deep in thought.

“Could the two simulations I’ve saved up in the past two months lead me to the Wizard Path?”
