Chapter 22 – They couldn’t have her inheritance, and she couldn’t have them (1)

When Fu Sinian passed away, Yu Duo knew her place very well as a widow, and she played the ultra-conservative role.

She didn’t even watch any pageant shows and always pretended that she was not interested in any other man under the sun, except Fu Sinian.

If it wasn’t for her livelihood, why would she wasted three years of her life on just one man?

Now that Fu Sinian was gone, she could rightfully appreciate any man she wanted.

Except that...

She looked at her flustered face in the mirror, and the corners of her mouth that was high, high up. If she was to walk back into the banquet hall like this, it’d most certainly give herself away.

She needed to cool down.

Leaving the restroom, Yu Duo decided to get some fresh air in the hotel garden instead of returning to the banquet hall.

She had been gone for quite a bit, and Mrs. Yu was anxious. She knew Yu Duo was hiding on purpose, so she made up some excuse and went to look for her.

As soon as she walked into the hallway, she noticed Yu Duo standing in the garden by herself. Mrs. Yu thought about it for a second, turned back into the banquet hall, and whispered something in Lu Yang’s ears.

Yu Yang paused for a second and Mrs. Yu urged him, “Hurry up!”

Yu Yang knew that Aunty was trying to help him out here, so he put down his wine glass and headed toward the garden.

Sure enough, he found Yu Duo alone in the garden.

It was early fall, and it rained a couple of days ago. There were some fall wind tonight, and the air was a little chilly.

The light was dim in the garden, so he could only see her with the moonlight. Yu Duo seemed even smaller and weaker in the dim light under the moon.

In Yu Yang’s memory, Yu Duo was skinny, but not to this extent.

She was so skinny that it made his heart ached.

Yu Yang gathered up his emotions and pretended that he happened to be here from a coincidence.

“Who’s there?” Yu Duo turned around, surprised, when she heard someone approaching. She was even more surprised when she noticed that that person was Yu Yang.

“Mr. Yu?”

“Oh, hey,” smiled Yu Yang. “I know we pretended that it was the first time we met back in the banquet hall, but I think we can be more relaxed now that we are alone. After all, we have known each other for so many years. Wouldn’t you say, Duoduo?”

Yu Duo was a little stumped. She couldn’t help but be attracted to Yu Yang’s eyes. Even when it was so dark around them, she could still see the sparks in his eyes.

“Alright, Yu Yang.” free(w)ebnovel(.)com

The moon was bright tonight. The two of them looked up at the same time.

“Such a nice night....”

“Look at how round the moon is....”

The two said at the same time again, and stopped at the same time.

Yu Duo felt awkward.

Yes, Yu Yang was very handsome, but she only wanted to look at him from afar. It was pleasant to appreciate handsome men from afar, but on a night like this? Just a man and a woman alone made her feel uncomfortable. She started thinking about how to end the conversation quickly and look for an excuse to get away.

Yu Duo felt that she shouldn’t feel that way. She speculated that perhaps it was she had been under Fu Sinian’s control for way too long, and she already had a warped sense of what was right and what was wrong.

At the same time, she hated herself for being such a coward!

Fu Sinian was already dead, what was there to be afraid of?

So what if she and Yu Yang were ex-boyfriend and ex-girlfriend? They were merely chatting as friends right now. She wasn’t doing anything immoral.

And even if it wasn’t, so what?
