Chapter 132

Being stared in the face by the words she had arrogantly sent out to Fu Sinian in the hospital, Yu Duo couldn’t really protest her innocence here.

Back then she had been behind the screen of her phone and talking to him from faraway on the internet, so the words that she had always kept at the bottom of her heart seemed to have courageously popped out in a way they never would have otherwise. Now, faced with those words, Yu Duo felt so guilty that she didn’t dare to even meet Fu Sinian’s eyes.

However, at the same time, the words Fu Sinian himself just said seemed to reverberate in Yu Duo’s mind.

He had just said that he was willing to work to get to know her, to respect her, to trust her, and that she could do whatever she wanted to do.

Was he being serious?

That was Yu Duo’s first thought upon hearing those words.

Was Fu Sinian really so patient?

Wait a moment... he had also said just now that she ‘didn’t have to pretend to be someone she wasn’t in front of him’, right? That was to say, Fu Sinian already knew everything.

He had actually seen through her from a long time ago, and he just didn’t say it outloud?

When did that happen?

Yu Duo suddenly felt nervous from the bottom of her heart.

Sure enough, she really should have trusted her woman’s initiation. Back during all those times when she felt that when Fu Sinian was looking at her, he was actually seeing right through her, it turned out that those feelings had been accurate and not just her delusions.

Suddenly feeling as if Fu Sinian had been watching her all this time like he was watching a clown jump around for his amusement, some of Yu Duo’s timidity was swept away, and she raised her eyes to glare at him.

Fu Sinian’s brows furrowed when he saw her glare, but he steadily met her gaze.

She didn’t know if it was her illusion, but as she thought that Fu Sinian had been seeing through her all this time and looking down on her, where was the supposed trust and respect?

As their eyes met, Yu Duo’s feelings of embarrassment and anger caused her courage to well up, and she asked quietly, “Since when did you know?”

Fu Sinian watched her face closely, trying to see whether Yu Duo would be enraged by his answer. He hesitated, but eventually he replied tersely, “Since I came back.”

Yu Dou silently guessed that maybe some of the things she had done secretly during Fu Sinian’s disappearance had somehow been found out by him.

It was her own carelessness.

She shouldn’t have been so indulgent.

Understanding a bit now, Yu Duo felt even more nervous.

Fu Sinian saw that Yu Duo’s fingers were unconsciously grasping the door frame and understood that she was feeling very nervous, or even afraid, from her little subconscious movements. He raised his hand to make a calming gesture but the motion startled Yu Duo and she took a small step back while at the same time putting on a very vigilant expression.

His raised hand froze in mid-air, and Fu Sinian said helplessly, “What are you so nervous about?”

With hindsight, Yu Duo realized that she had clearly overreacted, so she just gave an empty laugh to smooth things over and replied, “It’s nothing.”

Realizing just how great Yu Duo’s subconscious fear of him was, Fu Sinian’s expression turned serious and earnest, and he said, “Let’s talk.”

“Talk?”

“En, let’s have a serious talk.”

Yu Duo gingerly sat down opposite of Fu Sinian, and her whole body seemed to be radiating the words ‘I don’t want to talk at all!’. Meanwhile, despite seeing that, Fu Sinian’s face was grim and seemed to be etched with the words ‘Let’s have a serious conversation.’

Yu Duo actually really didn’t want to talk to him, not to mention doing so in such an awkward situation.

Opposite of her, Fu Sinian settled into his chair, straightened his posture, and seriously inspected Yu Duo from top to bottom. When he saw the uncomfortable expression on Yu Duo’s face, he realized that he had unconsciously brought out his usual work attitude, so he uncomfortably leaned forward to seem more casual, relaxed his face, cleared his throat, and spoke in a gentle tone.

“You and I are husband and wife, and it’s my belief that there is nothing that can’t be said between a husband and wife. I’ve read the message you sent...”

“What was written in the message actually isn’t true.” Yu Duo covered her belly with her hands. She had found out that, at the very least the child did belong to Fu Sinian, and she wasn’t so muddled that she would just let him keep believing that it was actually someone else’s, because that would be too wrong. “The child is yours. I just made a mistake. If you don’t believe me, I can show you the results that the hospital gave me.”

Fu Sinian’s brows slightly furrowed, “Then, do you still want a divorce?”

The premise behind getting a divorce, back when she had mentioned in her message, was that Yu Duo had thought that the child in her belly wasn’t Fu Sinian’s. Although she still hadn’t figured out where the child came from at that point, she had ‘known’ that she had put a green hat on Fu Sinian’s head so, since she didn’t plan to get an abortion, and she didn’t plan to let Fu Sinian raise another man’s child, she could only think of getting a divorce. Anyway, she had only maintained the current status quo of their marriage for so long in the interests of preserving her own life so she obviously wasn’t too attached to their marriage. But now that Fu Sinian hadn’t died the way he was supposed to according to the story, she didn’t have the will to keep living every day in fear beside a man like Fu Sinian anymore and she had dared to ask for a divorce because she felt that he wouldn’t really dare to do something evil to her. After all, they were still living in a lawful society.

And it wasn’t like she couldn’t afford to raise a child.

Yu Duo looked at him, plucked up her courage, and tried to lay things out as clearly as she could, “Didn’t you just say you would respect me and my decisions just now? I made it very clear in my message that I don’t like you. We only got married back because there was that incident at the cocktail party and we ended up sleeping together, and you wanted to take responsibility.”

“Before we got married we had only met once. And I don’t believe you have developed any sort of feelings for me since then because, during these past three years, you’ve spent most of your time outside of the house and we barely even saw each other normally so, naturally, our relationship isn’t much. I have no desire to occupy the position of ‘Mrs. Fu’ anymore. Anyway, you’re still young, you’re worth 20 billion, handsome, have a successful career... maybe one day you will meet the woman you really want to cherish. This time, when you disappeared, it made me see things clearly. I don’t want to go on like this. After all, I wasn’t... I wasn’t even sure if the baby in my belly was yours after I found out I was pregnant. Are you sure you want a woman like that as your wife?”

Was that clear enough?

If he didn’t have the intention, and she didn’t have the intention, what was the point of them being together?

“You have no feelings for me at all?”

Yu Duo was silent.

“Is it because your ex-boyfriend is back?”

Yu Duo’s eyes jerked up and she looked at him sharply. “That’s not the reason! I don’t have any feelings for him at all, so don’t misunderstand me!”

Fu Sinian was obviously happy with that reply, and he continued, “In that case, I won’t agree to a divorce. Not to mention, you’re pregnant with my child.”

“I know. I’ve thought about it. After the baby is born, he will still call you father and you can come to see him if you want to see him. I won’t stop you.”

Fu Sinian put on a serious expression that showed he obviously disagreed with Yu Duo’s words. He said, “But for a child to grow up healthily they need a sound and healthy family. I will never let my child grow up in a broken home!”

A healthy family?

Yu Duo rolled her eyes silently.

Fu Sinian really had some nerve to talk about ‘a healthy family’ in front of her. This from a man who would always go out early and come home late? From the man who spent more time with Ah Chi and Qiao Jiao than with her? They had been married for three years already but he had never so much as taken her to a cocktail party. Don’t even mention taking her out to travel, or preparing a surprise for her. All of his gifts were dull and uninspired, and it had always been clear that she had never been a person inside his heart. She had lived everyday like a widow.

However, she didn’t really have anything to complain about.

After all, although Fu Sinian didn’t love her, she didn’t love him either.

Fu Sinian’s heart wasn’t with her, and her heart wasn’t with him. Neither of them owed the other anything, it was all quite fair.

“A family of two people forcibly bound together also isn’t any good for a child. You don’t have to worry, I will educate him well. ” Yu Duo’s heart was pounding. She, perhaps because of the baby in her belly, was being very bold today. And the things she normally wouldn’t dare to say, she was saying out loud to Fu Sinian’s face.

She quietly watched for any changes in Fu Sinian’s expression to make sure he didn’t look like he was about to fly into a rage at her.

However, Fu Sinian’s expression barely wavered. He just looked at Yu Duo quietly while the soft light of the study cast a large shadow behind him.

“Are you determined to divorce me?”

Yu Duo gritted her teeth and nodded.
