Chapter 262 – A tiny matter? In his heart, this wasn’t a big deal at all? Is that so? (3)

Those words had just slipped past her lips without much thought, but when she carefully thought about it, it was how she genuinely felt. In the past, she and Song Tingshen had nothing to do with each other, so even if something had happened between her and Qin Yu, it wouldn’t have shaken their plastic marriage. However, as soon as there were feelings between them, how could it be possible to remain indifferent? It was obvious that was impossible.

Song Tingshen interrupted her, “Before we got married, we agreed that we wouldn’t interfere in each other’s personal lives after getting married. I’m a man and also a business person. I know the importance of upholding an agreement. If there really was something between you and Qin Yu, I’ll be angry, but I wouldn’t think about getting a divorce. I might mind it every time I think about it, but I never thought about splitting up with you because of it. I don’t know what marriage, family, and feelings means to you, but they’re very important to me.”

“I’m not particularly magnanimous or cowardly. It’s because I’ll weigh what’s really important to me. ” Song Tingshen’s voice inexplicably became disheartened, “After weighing it, I discovered you’re more important.”

Ruan Xia was stunned by his words. In her cognition, no matter how honest a man was, he couldn’t bear his wife cheating on him because this was the biggest blow to man even if he wasn’t in love with her. Qin Yu probably thought this way too, that’s why he had tried this trick. He wanted Song Tingshen to be upset over this and cause irreconcilable conflicts between her and Song Tingshen that would then lead to divorce.

However, whether it was her or Qin Yu, they were both mistaken about what Song Tingshen would do.

Song Tingshen cared too much about his family. He had lost his parents when he was young. He longed for a family more than anyone else. Now that this family existed, no matter what huge thing happened, his first thought is to keep his family.

It wasn’t that he was cowardly or that he wasn’t angry. It was because he knew what was important to him.

Ruan Xia hugged his arm. She lowered her head to hide the emotions in her eyes and softly said, “Song Tingshen, I didn’t.”

There was nothing between her and Qin Yu.

Song Tingshen was silent for a while before nodding. “I believe you.”

“No.” Ruan Xia shook her head. “You should still go check it out. Even though you say you believe me, I still want you to verify for yourself that I’ve never done anything that would wrong this marriage.”

Whether it was the original owner or her, they had never overstep the bounds of what’s proper in this marriage. That was what gave her the greatest confidence. No matter how Song Tingshen investigated or how Qin Yu tried to splash dirty water on her, nothing would come of it. She wanted Song Tingshen to clearly see that. Trust occupied an important position in a relationship, but no matter what the issue was, trust never held as much weight as facts.

Song Tingshen gave her trust, and she would give him facts.

“Okay.”

They didn’t say anything else.

Ruan Xia couldn’t help thinking that Song Tingshen was really wonderful. Just like this matter, it can be considered a major crisis in their relationship, but he never lost his temper in front of her. Perhaps, this was the charm of a mature man?

She didn’t know how long they sat there. Song Tingshen suddenly said in a low voice, “I want to see the mole on the left side of your waist and the scar behind your ear.”

Ruan Xia froze in surprise for a moment and only said “Ah?” She didn’t understand why he suddenly said this. She lowered her head and glanced at him.

He lowered her head and glanced at her. In a forbearing tone, he asked, “Can I?”

Translator Ramblings: “Just like this matter, it can be considered a major crisis in their relationship” I don’t get their thought process at all. This shouldn’t be a big issue or the focus of their conversation. A stranger tells Song Tingshen random things about his wife, and it causes so much drama into their relationship. If Qin Yu can cast doubt into their relationship with only a few words, their trust in each other is too fragile, and they should reassess their relationship.

If Li Jing had told Ruan Xia about a mark on Song Tingshen, I don’t think she would have believed that meant anything because she trusts Song Tingshen to not lie to her, so why is it a big deal to them just because their roles are reversed?

Earlier in the novel, Song Tingshen trusted that the original owner would never lie to him about having another relationship while being married to him, and now, he doubts Ruan Xia, who previously confirmed that she doesn’t have romantic relationships with other people. That’s a regression in their relationship.

Besides, since they had agreed on having separate lives beforehand, how can it be considered cheating if they both agreed to have an open marriage during that previous stage where they’re married, but were treating each other like strangers.

I find Ruan Xia’s insistence that her word isn’t good enough strange too. Even if Song Tingshen’s investigation comes up with nothing, it doesn’t mean there’s nothing between her and Qin Yu. It only means he hasn’t found anything. That’s why trust is vital. Is she going to ask him to launch an investigation every time a guy says something about her to him?

What do you guys think?
