Chapter 230 – He had already made a supreme effort to satisfy her maidenly heart (1)

At any rate, there was still a child left alone in the mansion, so Ruan Xia and Song Tingshen kept their walk short. As soon as they returned, they saw Qin Yu watching cartoons with Little Wang. They were taken aback.

Ruan Xia already had a preconception that Qin Yu had an ulterior motive. For what reason was he sitting next to Little Wang? She rushed over and scooped Little Wang up. A moment later, she realized that her response was a bit off, so she smiled at Qin Yu. “CEO Qin, this kid is usually very noisy. I hope he hasn’t bothered you.”

Qin Yu shook his head. His smile was as gentle as ever. “Not at all. I saw him alone in the living room, so I stayed to watch TV with him. He’s very well-behaved and sensible.”

Song Tingshen was worried that Little Wang was too heavy for Ruan Xia, so he took the chubby kid from her. “Go on, thank Uncle.”

Little Wang yawned. He was probably sleepy, but he still mustered up his spirits and said to Qin Yu in a crisp voice, “Thank you Uncle. I’m sleepy. I want to go back to sleep. Bye.”

Qin Yu was amused and waved his hand. “Okay, good night, kid.”

After saying goodbye, Ruan Xia and Song Tingshen took Little Wang upstairs and returned to their room.

Ruan Xia was still ill at ease over what Qin Yu and Little Wang might have talked about. Although Little Wang was smart, he was still young. If an adult wanted to get information from him, his response wouldn’t be guarded.

After they returned to the room, Ruan Xia pulled Little Wang over to sit next to her. She anxiously asked, “Little Wang, what did that Uncle ask you? Can you tell Mom?”

Song Tingshen had opened a bottle of mineral water and was about to offer it Ruan Xia. He froze in surprise when he heard her words and saw her expression.

He didn’t understand why Ruan Xia would ask Little Wang this question.

There was no way that Little Wang would still remember that. He had been sleepy to begin with, so he shook his head and said, “I don’t remember.”

He and that uncle had been talking about picture books and cartoons. How could he possibly remember the details of that?

Ruan Xia probingly asked, “You can’t remember at all?”

Little Wang seriously thought about it and finally remembered a little bit. “Uncle asked me if I wanted to eat ice cream and cake. I told him I brushed my teeth and I can’t eat.”

Ruan Xia: “...”

Why did he only remember stuff related to food?

Children didn’t tell lies. She knew that and Qin Yu knew that too. If Qin Yu really wanted to get information from Little Wang, he could easily do that. The most important thing is that young children didn’t have good memories. Most of the time, they wouldn’t be able to remember ordinary conversations.

Ruan Xia tried to jog Little Wang’s memory. “Did that Uncle ask about Dad and Mom?

Little Wang thought it over and shook his head. “Nope.” He didn’t think so.

“Are you sure?” Ruan Xia asked again.

Little Wang had already done his best to remember, but he couldn’t recall anything else at all. He was also very sleepy.

Song Tingshen couldn’t bear to keep Little Wang up for any longer. He picked Little Wang up from the sofa and said to Ruan Xia, “He’s not at the age where he can deeply remember everything. You’re asking him, but he really can’t remember. Look, he’s so sleepy. Let him sleep.”

Song Tingshen didn’t say that she should try asking tomorrow. Since Little Wang couldn’t even remember anything else now, by next morning, he would probably even completely forget about the minor part about brushing his teeth.

Translator Ramblings: From my experience in working at an after school daycare for elementary students (most of the kids were 5 to 6), young children are very good at parroting stuff they hear adults say. They’re usually very eager to babble in excitement over whatever ordinary thing happened that day to anyone that will listen. It seems odd to me that Little Wang is described as unable to remember stuff that recently happened.

What do you guys think? Do you have different experiences with kids?
