Chapter 161 – Could this woman be Song Tingshen’s first love? (1)

Song Tingshen’s old classmates were very surprised by Song Tingshen’s choice in partner. In their school days, he had been the top student, a cold person with excellent self-control. Although Song Tingshen had done a good job maintaining his looks, looked mature and stable, didn’t give off any feeling of greasiness, and overall, looked to be well-matched with Ruan Xia when they were standing together, they still found it hard to believe that Ruan Xia would be his type.

It wasn’t that Ruan Xia wasn’t good, but she was too beautiful and much younger than Song Tingshen, so people would often ignore her other good points.

Most people were superficial, especially when looking at this type of couple. Everyone would instinctively think... As it turned out, Song Tingshen was that appearance-oriented...

Even if Ruan Xia was Song Tingshen’s wife and they had a child that was already four years old, no one in the room could treat her as a peer. She was too young. They were almost a generation apart from her. If Ruan Xia was a few years younger, it wouldn’t be too much for her to address them as uncle and aunty.

Of course, these two people were a married couple after all. They would stop before going too far. After a few teasing words, they switched to talking about highschool memories. It was then that Teacher Wang arrived.

Ruan Xia looked over this sixty year old man.

He was wearing black pants and a white short-sleeved shirt. Part of his hair had turned white, but his back was very straight. Although time had left its marks on him, she could definitely see that he was handsome enough to be a male god in his youth.

A few people crowded around him and urged him to sit down. Teacher Wang had a pretty good memory and remembered all of his former students. When he saw Song Tingshen, he was a bit surprised.

“Why did you come back?” His tone was very intimate and familiar. This pair of teacher and student must have maintained close contact over the years.

Song Tingshen held Little Wang’s hand and led Ruan Xia over to Teacher Wang. “I came back this time to rebuild my parents’ tombstone. I was planning to visit you, teacher. But, my former classmates were more earnest than me and knew to plan a birthday celebration for you.”

He paused, “Teacher, this is my wife, Ruan Xia. This is my son, Song Shuyan. You helped me pick his name.”

Ruan Xia hastily half-bowed Teacher Wang and politely greeted him, “Teacher, hello.”

From the bottom of her heart, she admired this type of man. It was amazing that he could spend decades of his life to keep a promise. It was also rare to see a teacher putting forth so much thought and care to his students.

Most importantly, as a member of society, he always sympathized with people that were going through difficult times. Moreover, he did all that he could to help them. This made Ruan Xia feel that there were many good people in the world.

Teacher Wang glanced at Ruan Xia. His gaze was full of benevolent admiration for the younger generation. “Hello.”

He picked up Little Wang and said with a face full of affection, “I’ve only seen you in photos before. In the blink of an eye, you’re already so big. Your nickname is Little Wang, right? That’s pretty good. This child looks like he’s blessed with wang.”

(T/N: Wang can mean prosperous, flourishing, blazing (fire), blooming (flowers).)

Little Wang was naturally good at getting close to people. Hugging Teacher Wang’s shoulder and without any prompting from Song Tingshen, he called out in a milky voice, “Hi grandpa.”

A big smile appeared on Teacher Wang’s face. He let Little Wang sit on his lap and asked, “You’re four years old and already in kindergarten, right?”

Little Wang nodded. “Yup, I have to go to kindergarten every weekday.”

“Do you like to go school?”

Little Wang looked at his dad and then at his mom. He very honestly replied, “Sometimes I like it and sometimes I don’t. The times I don’t like going are more often.”
