Chapter 117 – For time being, he would simply consider Ruan Xia as someone he had met on a blind date (2)

“Although birthdays are quite depressing now since it means you’re a year older, not taking the time to celebrate your birthday... Work never ends, and there’s always more money to be made. You should still take the time to enjoy life.”

Li Yuanhang was the most naggy one in their group of friends.

Seeing that his friend was about to start an ideological education lecture, Song Tingshen hastily explained, “It’s not that. My father-in-law and mother-in-law want to celebrate my birthday. My family is going over to their house to have dinner tonight, that’s why I’m not free today.”

“Oh? Okay then. Oh right, how did you spend your birthday yesterday?”

Song Tingshen’s tone became much more light-hearted when he answered, “Nothing much, just with Little Wang and his mom.”

Little Wang’s mom...

When Li Yuanhang heard those words, it took a moment to recover from his surprise. Even if he didn’t go out of his way to find out, he knew that this couple’s relationship hadn’t been good in the past few years. Although Song Tingshen had brought Ruan Xia along to his wedding, he didn’t think anything had changed between them. But it seemed like the ice had broken between them now?

They went to a wedding together and celebrated a birthday together. As a good friend, Li Yuanhang naturally hoped that his friends had a happy family life. He smiled and said, “That’s pretty good. After a person is married, they should celebrate their birthdays with their spouses and children. How about this? When you have free time, let’s get together with our friends to celebrate your birthday.”

Before ending the call, Song Tingshen pretended to inadvertently ask, “You just remembered my birthday recently? That’s strange then.”

Li Yuanhang asked, “Yeah. Why?”

“It’s not a big deal.” Song Tingshen paused. His gaze was focused on a photo placed on his desk. Little Wang had been a year old when the photo was taken. At that time, he was even fatter than now and looked extremely cute. His arms resembled the Miqilin’s character logo.

“Li Jing made a cake for me yesterday. I thought you told her that it was my birthday. Never mind, it’s not important.”

Some topics should be dropped once you have gotten your point across. He felt that Li Yuanhang would probably understand his meaning.

Li Yuanhang held his breath. After an unknown time had passed, he said in a sunken voice, “I got it.”

Hearing Li Yuanhang’s words, Song Tingshen relaxed. Although he didn’t think the issue with Li Jing was worth worrying over, there was Li Yuanhang between them. There were several years of friendship between, and so, it would be better if he said those words instead.

Even if he was still single and didn’t have a wife or child, he wouldn’t be interested in Li Jing.

Because of his friendship with Li Yuanhang, he couldn’t go too far with the things he did and the words he said. And so, he could only disclose the issue to his friend and have him resolve it. This method would be better overall and would also give Li Jing face.

As soon as that call ended, Song Tingshen dialed an internal number to call Assistant Chen into his office.

“Have Vice General Manager Zhang take my place for tonight’s dinner meeting. I’m busy,” Song Tingshen said.

Assistant Chen nodded and noted it down. “Okay, CEO Song.”

Assistant Chen was supposed to leave after receiving this order, but the boss hadn’t dismissed him. He could only stand in front of the desk and wait for his next order.

After being silent for a while, Song Tingshen looked at his assistant and asked with some difficulty, “I remember you have a girlfriend. Is that right?”

Assistant Chen had waited for a while, only to get a question that had nothing to do with work. It was inevitable that he would be somewhat dumbfounded. However, he was a very professional assistant and quickly braced himself for the task. He answered, “Yes. She works in City A, but she might transfer here at the end of the year.”

Song Tingshen nodded. “That’s quite good. How did you meet?”
