Chapter 75: Setting Out (2)

However, he didn’t have sufficient resources in this small city, there wasn’t enough information to learn from at all. When it just so happened that Su Tian planned to go to the capital, he impulsively asked her to go too.

After asking, he had actually felt a bit nervous.

But,Su Tian just froze for a moment, confused, before agreeing with a smile. She even said that when the time came, he couldn’t blame them for treating him as a coolie. After all, the rest of them were weak girls, only Liu Kaiyan was a guy, ah.

If he didn’t act as a coolie, who would?

Liu Kaiyan’s tense nerves relaxed momentarily, his brows softening, as he smiled and said: “Okay.”

He wasn’t afraid of being Su Tian’s coolie. He was only afraid of being useless, of being a burden to her.

Not only was the capital far, Su Tian reckoned that they wouldn’t be back for at least a day or two. Of course, she was worried about her family’s cute God of Wealth, so she decided to go upstairs and knock on his door the next day to ask if Xi Yun wanted to go with her to the capital to play.

Xi Zhiqiang opened the door, smelling so strongly of tobacco and alcohol that Su Tian’s eyes watered.

When he saw Su Tian, a strange expression flashed quickly on his face. Without asking Su Tian to come in, he shouted into the room: “Someone’s here for you.”

Then, ignoring Su Tian, he turned around and went back in.

A voice quickly came from the room: “Is that Jie Jie? Wait a second, I’ll be right out.”

A rustling sound followed.

Su Tian raised her eyebrows, what was this naughty kid doing in the room? She replied: “Okay, no need to rush. I’ll wait outside for you.”

After a while, Su Tian saw Xi Yun open his bedroom door and come out. She didn’t know what he had been doing, but his face was red and sweaty, with a purple patch on his forehead.

Su Tian’s heart tightened for a second, pulling him out of the apartment and whispered: “What happened to your head?”

Xi Zhiqiang didn’t beat him again right?

When she got closer to him, she smelled something strange, something pungent but not unpleasant. Su Tian felt as if she’d smelled it somewhere before, but couldn’t recall.

Xi Yun covered his wound and blushingly said: “I accidentally bumped it on the coffee table when I went to pick something up.”

Su Tian was a little suspicious. Su Tian looked him over and found that he didn’t seem to have any other injuries. She let out a sigh of relief, at least it seemed like it wasn’t too serious.

She asked: “My mother and I are going to the capital during the November break. Do you want to come with us?”

Xi Yun’s eyes brightened, but, he seemed to have thought of something, and his eyes immediately dimmed again. Before he could speak, an impatient man’s voice came from the room:

“You’re not allowed to go anywhere. You stay home obediently, you hear me?”

Su Tian was a little surprised. She had thought that Xi Zhiqiang would be happy to be temporarily rid of Xi Yun, this child from a previous marriage. After all, if Xi Yun wasn’t there, it would be much easier for him to bring a woman back.

Xi Yun lowered his head: “Jie Jie, I’m not going. You and Auntie can play together.”

Su Tian had wanted to say something but Xi Zhiqiang had already come over, slapping the floor with his slippers, and stood at the doorway: “Xi Yun is staying home to cook, he’s not going. You guys go play.”

Without waiting for Su Tian to open her mouth, he slammed the door closed.

Su Tian: “……”

When she went down the stairs to her home, He Qingwan rushed to ask about his situation. Su Tian just said: “Xi Yun’s dad won’t let him go.”

He Qingwan was a little disappointed and also a little annoyed with Xi Zhiqiang. But, that was still Xi Yun’s father, he had the power to decide whether or not Xi Yun could go with them.

She could only helplessly say: “Then forget it, let’s just buy more presents for him when we come back.”

After saying this, she couldn’t help but whisper: “Xiao Yun, this kid, is so sticky to you. With this, I don’t know how heartbroken he would be.”

Su Tian listened, not saying anything, her face blank.
