Chapter 14 – Little Cutie (1)

That night after school, Su Tian went home with the basketball.

There were simply too many people and stuff inside the classroom and no space for something so bulky. Granted, there was a cabinet in the classroom, but it was common understanding that it belonged to the student sitting closest to it.

Su Tian was a new student and she didn’t want to stir anything up; so she had no choice but to bring it home with her.

Naturally, everybody in class knew that that was Liu Kaiyan’s basketball, but nobody commented on it. By now, probably everybody at school knew about what had happened right outside the school’s front door this morning.

As Wang Yuxue and Su Tian lived in the same building, they walked home together after school. When they were walking down the stairs, Liu Kaiyan was right in front of them.

After an entire day, the palm print on his face was even more obvious. It was black and blue under the dim light of the stairwell.

Su Tian, with the basketball still in toll, was looking for an opportunity to strike up a conversation with him when the students from the classroom next door were released all of a sudden. Everybody rushed toward the stairs and instantly the crowded stairwell felt even more like a can of packed sardines and making it difficult for everyone to even breathe.

Somebody bumped into her from the back and, distracted, the basketball flew out of Su Tian’s hands and hit Boss Liu squarely on the back of his hand before lodging right in between the two of them.

Liu Kaiyan turned around.

Su Tian, “......”

She blinked and quickly grabbed the basketball. With an innocent look on her face, she said, “I’m sorry, I did not do that on purpose.”

Liu Kaiyan did not respond but only looked at her with his dark, black eyes. With the handprint on his face, it felt a bit eerie.

When Wang Huxue said that, she immediately stood up for Su Tian and said, “Tiantian really didn’t do that on purpose. Someone bumped into her!”

Then, turning toward the back, she shouted, “C’mon now, be more careful, will ya? You just bumped into us!”

Her mean mannerism made her looked like a hen protecting her chicks.

The boy who bumped into them wasn’t happy about being yelled at and shouted back, “Okay, princess, it was just a small bump!”

Wang Huxue snapped and shouted loudly this time, “Why do you get to shout after bumping into us? Where are you rushing to anyway?”

The boy snapped as well and said viciously, “You want to say that one more time? Don’t think I won’t hit you just because you are a girl!”

Su Tian and Boss Liu were staring at each other before, but as the shouting match escalated on this side, she quickly tugged Wang Huxue on her arm and stopped her from continuing engaging with the boy.

Su Tian turned around, looked at the boy behind them and smiled, “We didn’t think you wouldn’t hit us because we are girls, after all, we won’t be your match at all.”

Her words immediately got those around them to look at the boy, with slight contempt in their looks.

After all, no matter what day and age it was, only loser men would beat up women.

The boy blushed under the stares, plus the words came from a pretty girl like Su Tian. He was more irritated than before and said, “If you guys weren’t being princesses and started shouting at me, I don’t have the time of the day for you!”

Su Tian, “Have you forgotten the incident at the other school when three students were stampeded to death by the crowd? Plus, this banister was so old, what happens if it gives way?”

Su Tian didn’t even make that story up. The incident really took place at the end of last school quarter, and Su Tian witnessed it in person.
