Almost immediately swords were drawn and the fighting started furiously from all over the mountains.
Some of the weaker returning golden celestials were even forced to jump down to the desolate mists below the mountains in order to escape being killed by the evil cultivators.
The profound arrays in the mountains did not affect the evil cultivators and they could move freely as they were all given a special profound marble to neutralize the profound arrays in the place. To prevent the profound marble from being taken by their enemies, they were all ordered to swallow this profound marble.
At the same time, the profound beams from the floating profound ships above were raining down upon the battle field above, killing many of the golden celestials.
Soon, profound arts and powerful profound beams were seen everything in the mountains, causing the entire mountains to be clouded with flying debris and the heavy dust of the mountains.

After fighting for 2 hours, he was recognized by some of the evil cultivators.
"He is Ji Yuan! I know him from his beautiful face!"

"Kill this so call Savior of the Desolate Celestial Fraternity!"
"Too bad. He isn't in the list of the cultivators that we shouldn't kill…"
"We are not allowed to kill Little Princess. Do you think that he knows where she is?"

Ji Yuan fought furiously in the mountains as he sought to find his maidens, stopping to fight seriously once if he encountered a saint cultivator. For the most times, he can't be bothered to stop and fight. But he would stop to aid the other fighting returning golden celestials as he went past them.
Most of the evil cultivators that Ji Yuan had encountered were not his match and couldn't stop him from darting quickly away. And he did not give them a chance to gather together to manhunt him either.
Even though the evil cultivators were not restricted by the formidable immortal profound arrays in the place but the different terrains of the mountains and forests made it very hard for them to chase after Ji Yuan who was able to move with great agility and seemingly without inexhaustible profound strength.
Soon some of the leaders of the evil cultivators got wiser as they transmitted the location of Ji Yuan to their fellow evil cultivators on board the profound ships that were above them.
"We have found Ji Yuan. He's on one of our hit lists. He is moving too quickly for us to nail him but this is his current co-ordinates. We will guide you to attack Ji Yuan…"
And so, Ji Yuan ended up being bombarded with powerful profound energies that exceeded most seventh realm profound arts and many times, he was swept aside by the shockwaves of the bombardment.
Ji Yuan had very sharp divine sense so he was able to avoid most of the profound beams in a nick of a time but the bombardment area of effect was really huge and he could not completely avoid the blasts so he sustained multiple injuries.
If it was not for his acute danger sense and his 9th realm divine sense, even he got 10 lives, it was not enough for this battle.
But he kept on fighting and looked everywhere for his maidens.
The situation was worse than he had thought and was only getting worse!
The first known cultivator that Ji Yuan had met was actually Li Ye and he was heavily wounded.
Ji Yuan quickly come to his aid by felling the five evil cultivators that were surrounding Li Ye.
Among the five evil cultivators, 2 were even golden celestials of the 6th realm cultivation but Ji Yuan's swordplay was truly exceptional especially when he also had the superior profound strength.
Cutting them down were like cutting tofu.
"Li Ye! You are safe now! Quickly jump down to the nearest desolate mists or you won't be able to survive today's battle!"
Li Ye gasped weakly, "Brother Ji Yuan, let me follow you!"
Ji Yuan had already jumped on top to a cliff as he shouted, "See those evil cultivators on the cliffs behind me? They are homing me with the profound cannons on top of me. You won't be able to survive with me. Right now, the profound cannons are probably recharging… farewell and don't die!"
As soon as Ji Yuan had said that, a powerful profound beam of light had flashed from a profound ship above and it had struck the cliff that Ji Yuan was on, completely obliterating the sides of the cliff.
The explosions and the shockwaves of this profound beam was so powerful that Li Ye who was standing from more than a mile away was also swept by the powerful shockwave of this profound attack.
Li Ye gasped with shock, "Brother Ji Yuan!"
There was no way for Ji Yuan to survive a profound attack of this immerse power.

Ji Yuan called out silently for the names of these 8 maidens: Yun Chi, the Lovely Empress Lu Jiangsu, Zhi Jiugong, the Smiling Divine Maiden Chu Lixue, Feng Minyue, Little Princess, Shui Xisi and Ling Feiyue… where are you?
All of a sudden Ji Yuan spotted a golden celestial maiden that was injured and being dragged away by the evil cultivators.
He immediately come to her aid and when he saw her face, he was shocked.
"Wan'Er, it is you!"
It was indeed Mu Wan'Er, who was one of the Ji Yuan's maidens in the Empyrean Warrior Labyrinth. She had chosen to remain in the limbo as not to bring trouble to Ji Yuan as she was too weak to be of any help as she was only at the 5th realm cultivation.
Ji Yuan was delighted as he quickly said to her, "Wan'Er, enter my skull ring. But don't move from there because that place is extremely dangerous."
Mu Wan'Er hugged Ji Yuan and she was weeping emotionally, "Ji Yuan, I've thought that I would never be able to see you again…"
Ji Yuan said to her, "It is alright. You are fine now."
Mu Wan'Er wept, "I saw Chen Hanhan. She has defected to the evil cultivators…"
