Chapter 77: Non-Attribute Attacks

“I’m in trouble…”

Zion mutters with a wry smile. An invisible force lifts his feet off the ground and lifts his body into the air. The person causing this strange phenomenon is Mei, a girl of about seven or eight years old, in front of him.

“People who do terrible things to Granpa, I will never forgive them”

“Would you believe me if I told you, it was a misunderstanding?”

“I won’t believe what bad people say”

Although Shion fully believes in the Hero of Brainwash powers, he didn’t think she’s even been brainwashed. Her eyes are different from those of the people he met.

Nevertheless, it does not seem easy to clear up misunderstandings.

“Telekinesis… I should be able to do this though…”

The sole of Shion’s foot touches the ground when the body is straining.

“…Why Mei’s power can’t get through?”

“Because telekinesis isn’t inherently meant to catch people”

Telekinesis is classified as non-attributed magic, and its use naturally decreases its magical power. The level at which it can work on living things is astounding, but if you know how to apply your body’s power, you can get out of it, like Shion did this time.

Mei also did not persistently continue with the same technique but switched to a more telekinesis-oriented method.

Benches and fallen stones in the plaza were first lifted into the air. Next, trees were pulled out with great force.

They strike Shion from all directions. This is the standard use of telekinesis, but the speed at which they fly is still extraordinary.

“This at that age… She would be stronger than a Hero if she trains……”

Astonished by the overwhelming potential, Shion sank his whole body into the shadows at his feet.

“…where?”

“Right here”

“EH!?”

He appears from behind Mei and surprises her by holding her still-thin arms firmly in place.

If they are in close contact, she cannot send things flying with telekinesis. This is because there is a danger that it will hit her as well. Mei understood this and stopped manipulating the things in the air for the time being.

“I would like to ask you a few questions. Have you ever met a Hero named Jin?”

“…un”

“Did he do anything strange to you? Like giving you a strange drink, or taking out a strange device in front of you?”

“When I first met him, I got strange colored water. It made my stomach hurt a little”

“Anything else, like, headache?”

“No”

“Did Granpa go missing after that? Or did he gone before you met Jin?”

“Granpa went missing the next day. Why?”

After she answered, Shion pauses for a moment. He felt it was odd. Why would a Brainwashing Hero who uses bells and the power of drugs to manipulate people make an exception for this child?

She simply could not be brainwashed. So, he kidnapped her grandfather and successfully pocketed her by making Shion look bad. Although she has extraordinary abilities, she is still a very young child. It is not so difficult to deceive her.

“If you stop fighting, I’ll help you find Granpa”

“I won’t believe you!”

“Whoa?!”

Suddenly, Shion feels the air hit his whole body and he is blown backward. He manages to land on his feet, but cannot hide his surprise.

“A shockwave…?”

Non-Attributed is not called Non-Attributed because they did not belong to anything. It’s named that because of the variety of the attacks that cannot be put into a specific class.

It is the most specific of all attributes and has a wide variety of powers.

It’s unclear if this one is really a shockwave, too. It is certain that strong pressure was applied though.

Whatever the case may be, Shion did not want to fight as much as possible, but the battle situation turned out to be even worse.

“UuuuuooOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!”

“Tch, came already?”

Those manipulated by the bells heard the sound and entered the plaza. Three adult men grabbed at Shion, drooling all over him.

He can’t simply kill them.

So, he sheathed his sword, throw it away, and then punches the men in the stomach with his strengthened fist. Although his physical abilities have been increased by the power of the bell, he is probably an amateur by nature.

So far there’s no problem. One thing to consider is there’s a dense bloodlust coming behind him.

“This is kinda bad…”

Mei saw an opportunity and sent a tree -a rather huge one at that- flying at high speed with her telekinesis. It’ll take about a second for a direct hit. It was too short to use counterattack magic, but he could escape into the shadows.

But Shion does not do it. If he ran away, he would be hit directly by the fallen residents. It would be no surprise if they died.

“AOUCH!!!”

Shion, who is somewhat reckless. He caught the tree with his raw body. When the thick trunk hit his torso, he was almost swept away, but he held on there with his spirit.

He let out a relieved sigh when he only has to take a couple of steps backward to cushion the impact.

It was Mei who was severely upset by this.

“Why aren’t you running away? I thought you were going to come back behind Mei again because of what you just said……”

“If I do that, these people could end up dead”

“But, they’re your enemy!!”

“It’s just Jin manipulating them. Even you care about Granpa, don’t you?”

“Why are you acting weird suddenly?”

“Like your grandfather to you, these people may be important to someone else. Don’t hurt people unnecessarily”

I felt a little preachy when I said it, but it wasn’t particularly refuted. Mei has clearly lost the will to fight from her eyes.

“Mei can still fight and use more and different magic”

That’s scary. That’s not a joke, that’s how Shion really felt.

“But, but …… I don’t fight anymore. The talking, I will listen”

“Ooh! Really??”

“It’s because Shion doesn’t look like a bad guy”

Shion clenched his fists and was quietly pleased that his sincerity had been properly conveyed.
