323 Missing

When Jing Yan returned to normal, the phone beside his pillow was buzzing.

He picked up the phone, tidied his clothes, looked at the time on the clock, and said coldly, “What did you find?”

Chen Zhao was finally able to contact Jing Yan. He heaved a sigh of relief and said, “President Jing, Xu Ling just sent back news that He Wei wasn’t injured at all. There must be a big conspiracy behind this, and it’s probably aimed at Miss He.”

“I know.” Jing Yan furrowed his brows for a moment, then suddenly asked worriedly, “Where is Xu Ling now?”

Chen Zhao was stunned. He looked at the surveillance video on the computer screen in confusion. “You should be home, right? President Jing, what’s the matter?”

Jing Yan tiredly massaged the space between his brows. As he went downstairs, he ordered, “Confirm her safety and find the location where the reporter was kidnapped as soon as possible.”

“Yes.” After hanging up, Chen Zhao called Xu Ling, but no one picked up.

A chill suddenly ran down his spine. Chen Zhao did not dare to waste any time. He immediately got someone to get the surveillance videos of the roads near the hospital. After finding out that Xu Ling had entered the neighborhood safely, he immediately sent someone to her house to confirm her safety.

While waiting, Chen Zhao repeatedly told himself that Xu Ling did not pick up the call because she was taking a shower and nothing else.

Unfortunately, the news from the person who had broken into Xu Ling’s house did not make him any happier. “Brother Chen, this is bad. Secretary Xu isn’t at home at all. Her phone is on the floor, and even the screen is broken. She must have been kidnapped!”

“Find her for me! Don’t let go of any clues, you have to find Xu Ling!”

Chen Zhao stood up in horror and slammed the table. The thing he was most worried about had happened. After giving orders to the people at the scene, he immediately called Jing Yan to admit his mistake.

After listening to her in silence, Jing Yan’s brows furrowed in anger. “I’ll be at the company right away. Tell the technical department not to let their guard down and find Xu Ling’s location from the surveillance cameras! Also, don’t let He Miao know about this for now.”

Jing Yan hung up the phone and was about to walk out of the entrance when Old Master Jing suddenly called him from behind. “Wait a moment. Send a few more people to stake out the entrance of the hospital where He Wei is staying, in case they find out that the matter has been exposed and move her away. By then, it will be difficult for us to find any evidence. By the way, have someone guard He Feng’s side as well. Don’t let them do anything.”

“Alright,” he said. Jing Yan nodded slightly and got to work without a word.

Soon, everything was arranged in an orderly manner. Now, they could only hope that their people would act fast. Otherwise, once tonight passed, perhaps many things would change.

In the cold and dark basement, Xu Ling slowly opened her eyes and found that her arms were tied to the chair, and her mouth was stuffed with a stinky rag.

Other than the darkness in front of her, she could not see anything clearly. She could only hear the occasional “squeak” of a mouse from the corner of the wall.

She stuck out her tongue and pushed the rag out of her mouth until her mouth was sore. Then, she spat out the disgusting thing.

Xu Ling could not see anything in the dark. She could only hold her breath and try not to let anything that might be hiding in the dark notice her movements. It was not until her eyes gradually adapted to the darkness that she could vaguely see the outline of the entire basement. After confirming that there was no one else here, she took a deep breath and moved her crossed wrists that were tied tightly behind the chair.

The only thing she could be glad about was that she had secretly left the camera in her shirt pocket at home when she was fighting with the strange man. This way, when President Jing and Chen Zhao found out about her abduction, she could at least find evidence that He Wei was pretending to be sick. At least she did not take the risk for nothing.

The hemp rope behind her made her feel a sharp pain in her wrist. She completely gave up struggling. After knowing that she could not escape on her own, Xu Ling quickly accepted the situation and began to think about all sorts of things.

For example, if Miss He knew that she had made such a big sacrifice to prove her innocence, would she give her a bonus of hundreds of thousands or raise her salary and live a life of being second to only one person and above all others?

After thinking about it, Xu Ling felt that either way was good. As long as Miss He was not an ungrateful person who did not know how to repay favors, she should be able to live a good life once she was rescued.

As she was lost in her thoughts, the door to the basement was suddenly opened. A tall figure blocked the door against the light. He saw the rag at Xu Ling’s feet and said coldly, “You’re quite bold, who allowed you to take it out yourself?”

Xu Ling was a little nervous at the sight of his tall figure, but her strong mental fortitude allowed her to calm down quickly. She stammered, “Y-you, that piece of rag of yours is so stinky. I was so disgusted that I vomited it out. How can you blame me?”
