307 A Nostalgic Touch

He Miao furrowed her brows and exchanged a look with Jing Yan. She suddenly thought of a possibility and leaned over to her, asking in a low voice, “Do you still remember anything?”

On the bed, Xia Yan was still attached to a ventilator and her head was wrapped in a few layers of gauze. “I, I don’t remember anything.”

He Miao heaved a sigh of relief when she saw that she did not seem to be lying. For a moment, she actually thought that Xia Yan would be transmigrated because of the car accident. After all, the car accident was also the reason why Jing Yan experienced such a bizarre thing.

Lu Shuang pressed the button to call the nurse with a serious expression.

Soon, the nurse on duty at the hospital came in. “The patient is awake? Let me see.”

The young nurse carefully checked Xia Yan’s physical condition and said with a relaxed smile, “She’s out of danger. From now on, at least one person will have to stay in the hospital every night to take care of the patient. The hospital will arrange for regular physical examinations. By the way, Mr. Chen said that he will be here soon.”

“Wait.” Lu Shuang stopped the nurse who was about to leave and asked anxiously, “How did my daughter lose her memory? Can she still remember the past?”

The nurse smiled and said, “Don’t worry, this is only temporary. She will slowly remember in the future. You can bring more things that she used to use to help her recover her memory.”

“Good, that’s good.” Lu Shuang was relieved. She looked at her pale-faced daughter on the bed and caressed her hair. “Baby, what do you want to eat? Mom will buy it for you.”

Xia Yan gently looked at every face in the room and shook her head in confusion. “I don’t know, mom. You can just buy anything.”

“Okay, then wait for me. I’ll be back soon.” Lu Shuang wiped her tears. In that instant, she had transformed from a strong woman to a strong mother.

If Xia Yan were to regain her memory and see her mother taking care of her gently, she would definitely be touched.

After Lu Shuang left, He Miao sat at the head of the bed again. She looked at the pale-faced young lady on the bed and smiled. “Yanyan, I’m He Miao. We’re good friends and you’re a business partner of my company. It’s okay if you can’t remember me now. We can get to know each other again.”

Her voice was gentle and calm, inexplicably soothing Xia Yan.

Xia Yan nodded gently and smiled from the bottom of her heart. “Alright, I remember you. You’re He Miao, and we’re good friends.”

“My name is Xu Meng, and the one beside me is Miaomiao’s boyfriend, Jing Yan. You have to remember me too!” Xu Meng interjected with a mischievous tone.

Xia Yan turned to look at her and memorized their names.

The panic she felt when she first opened her eyes and saw a stranger had been completely appeased, replaced by a full sense of peace. Even if she had temporarily lost her previous memories, as long as her mother and these friends were here, there should be nothing to be afraid of.

The atmosphere in the room was just right when someone suddenly knocked on the door.

Chen Zheng stood at the door and looked at the girl who was talking and laughing on the bed. His eyes trembled for a moment before he asked in a hoarse and dry voice, “You’re awake?” How do you feel now?”

“You…” Xia Yan frowned and tried to hold back her inexplicable heartache. She looked at the man’s blurry face that was hidden in the shadows at the door and suddenly felt her blood boil. It was as if something was about to break out of the ground in her mind, and the huge sense of sadness almost drowned her. In an instant, she broke out in cold sweat and her face turned as pale as paper.

Frightened out of her wits, He Miao hurriedly pressed the button to call the nurse and comforted Xia Yan’s body. “Don’t move, the doctor will be here soon. Are you feeling unwell?”

“My, my head hurts.” Xia Yan pressed her head into the pillow, but it did not relieve her pain at all.

Chen Zheng still did not know that Xia Yan had lost her memory and thought that his appearance had triggered her. He said with an ugly smile, “I know you don’t want to see me. I just want to see you wake up with my own eyes.”

“I, I have a headache.” Xia Yan, who had lost her memory, was like a child who had yet to grow up. She no longer had her usual calm aura and was helpless toward the people around her.

Only then did Chen Zheng realize that something was wrong. He rushed into the ward and frowned when he saw her pale and painful face. “I’ll call the doctor right away. You guys stay here and take good care of her.”

“Don’t go.” Xia Yan held his hand and suppressed the excruciating pain in her head. She looked up at his strange yet somewhat familiar face seriously.

She did not know why, but whenever she saw this face, her heart would hurt so much that it could not be any worse. Even so, there was still a voice in her heart telling her not to let him go.

She did not understand where this feeling came from. She could only let her heart be at a loss and take the initiative to ask the man she met for the first time after waking up to stay.

Chen Zheng’s body suddenly froze on the spot. He felt the soft and familiar touch in his palm, and the strong sour feeling almost made him cry.
