Chapter 1191 - Selena (5)

Selena buried her face in the pillow and screamed in annoyance that she had lost track of Xander. Again.

'May I mark you now?'

Those were the words that Selena said before finally Xander sped off on his motorbike very fast, not even letting the girl react.

By the time Selena realized that she had outspoken her mind unconsciously, Xander had already disappeared from her sight.

Ugh!

"Am I being too aggressive until I scared him off?" Selena raised her head and stared at the rain outside. "I shouldn't have said that. He must have felt I was too possessive and aggressive. Stupid lycan blood!"

It was no secret that shifters, especially lycans, tended to be more aggressive and possessive than other creatures, especially when it came to their mates.

There was no tolerance for them.

But…

"Ugh! Stupid me..." Selena muttered to herself. "Now where else should I look for him..."

Selena then rolled over and stared at the ceiling while listening to the sound of the raindrops knocking on her bedroom window.

"Xander..." Selena murmured the man's name again. "Where should I look for you?"

Selena had very little information about this man named Xander, apart from his name and license plate number, there was nothing else that she could find.

==================

The moon looked so bright under the night sky, so calming, but sadly the same couldn't be said anywhere near the beach in this town.

No one had time to appreciate the beauty of the moon when the sound of music thumped so loudly while the roar of motorbikes and cars broke the silence of the night.

This was a beachside party that was almost always held by members of the motorcycle gang to which Xander belonged.

However, the man didn't really enjoy this place or the atmosphere.

And now he was questioning himself, why did he want to be in a place like this when he didn't even like it, or why did he want to join this biker group when there wasn't even anyone he wanted to talk to?

It's very complicated.

At first, Xander thought by being around them or mingling in this kind of crowd, he would feel a little less lonely, but in reality he was wrong. Loneliness and solitude were two completely different things.

He could be in a crowded place like this, but still feel lonely.

And now his mind was wandering to the incident two weeks ago, when he met a girl named Selena, who said that she was his mate.

Of course Xander knew what that meant, as well as her bold words, which said the girl wanted to mark him.

Crazy girl…

But, for some reason Xander couldn't get the image of the girl out of his mind. Maybe it was because he was the same 'weird' person as herself, so Xander didn't feel alone.

And when Xander's mind was back to thinking about how those beautiful blue eyes had looked at him with enthusiasm and interest, Xander tried to remember the last time someone looked at him the way Selena did. Right at that moment, someone called out his name.

"Someone's looking for you," Kai, another wild racer, said.

And when Xander turned around, that was when he saw the girl's beautiful eyes again. Still the same as the last time he saw her. The girl was still looking at him in the same way and with the same enthusiasm.

Only, this time those blue eyes were filled with a hint of irritation…

"I've finally found you!" Selena exclaimed, there was relief as well as annoyance in her voice, but she immediately ran over to Xander who was sitting on the sand on the beach, away from the thongs of partying people.

"Do you know her?" Kai asked, seeing how easily this strange girl approached Xander and sat beside him.

"Yes," Xander answered curtly.

Hearing that answer, Kai shrugged his shoulders and walked away from the two of them, but as soon as he joined the crowd, several women who noticed Selena's arrival, asked who she was and how she got close to Xander.

And just like them, Kai didn't know about the girl at all.

"You know, it was really hard to find you," Selena said, starting her complaints. "Next time, if you're leaving, at least tell me where I can find you."

"Why would I do that?" Xander asked, then lifted the beer can he was holding and downed the bitter drink.

"Of course, so I can look for you," Selena replied in a tone that seemed to say; duh, what else would be the matter? "It hurts me so much to be away from my mate," Selena grimaced, remembering the days she'd searched for information about Xander.

"You should stop and find another man."

Selena, who heard this, frowned. "See, couple bonds for shifters are sacred, you can't ignore them just because you don't like your mate."

"That's called coercion," Xander said nonchalantly. "You have the right to choose who you want to be with."

"I know," Selena answered quickly. "And I chose to be with you."

Xander sighed again.

"You did that again," Selena said.

"Do what?"

Then Selena took a deep breath, imitating what Xander had done earlier. "This."

Xander wanted to laugh at how Selena imitated what he was doing, but instead he asked a question. "Can't you reject this couple's bond?"

Selena thought about the question for a moment. "Actually you can…"

"Then I will reject you…" Xander didn't have time to continue his sentence because Selena had covered his mouth with both hands.

"You can't say that," Selena said, wide-eyed. She looked surprised and this made Xander frown in confusion, too.

"Why?" he asked after he managed to get Selena's hands off of his mouth. The girl smelled like peppermint.

"Huh..." Selena racked her brains, trying to come up with the most dramatic answer she could think of. "Because I could die if you reject me…"

Xander glared at her and Selena prayed that this man didn't know much about the world of shifters.

"Are you kidding?"

Thank goodness he didn't know. "I am not kidding." Selena tried hard to show her serious face.

Of course, a shifter wouldn't die if his mate rejected him, but with that rejection, of course it would feel almost the same as if he were on the verge of death.

"Don't you think your moon goddess is so cruel?"

"No," Selena answered quickly. "Because I can meet you."

And that was when a commotion broke out at the party. They heard screams and noises coming from there.
