Chapter 207 - Fu Meixu Taunts Zhi Ruo
As everything was going on well for the Fu family, it was the opposite for Bai Fen.
Bai Fen discovered that Fu Hee blocked her contact after several days of not hearing from her.
Bai Fen checked her chats with Fu Hee 5 days after she sent those pictures from her and discovered that she still hasn't received the message and she tried to reach her.
When she failed to reach Fu Hee through calls and texts, she was mad in anger.
She had thought Fu Hee was only going to ignore her for a few days but after a few days turned to several days and she did not receive any response, she decided to reach out to her and that was when she discovered that it was futile.
Bai Fen went as far as contacting some of their friends to ask about Fu Hee. Most of them said they haven't spoken to her in a while. It was one of them that revealed she spoke to Fu Hee 2 days ago.
This was enough reason for Bai Fen to confirm that Fu Hee blocked her contact. Bai Fen was furious and cursed angrily.
"Fu Hee, just you wait, you will regret ignoring me!"
Two days before Jia Li's graduation, Fu Meixu goes to hang out with the movie cast and production crew for the latest movie she will be staring in as the female lead, to be familiar with each other.
It was the movie director that organized the dinner so that everyone that would be participating in the movie will be familiar with one another before filming starts. This was to create a harmonious atmosphere while filming.
Trust Fu Meixu to turn up dressed like a rich princess but thankfully she did not overdo it this time around because she had a plot she wanted to execute
She wanted to get in the good books of the cast members and the production crew by dressing properly and coming on time.
Her act of appearing humble and composed paid off because everyone acted friendly towards her.
Before today, everyone thought that it wasn't a good idea for her to play the female lead role since she was a C-list actress while Zhi Ruo played the second female lead.
They nearly made a protest and some of them went to meet the director secretly to talk about it but he remained adamant, so they were unhappy.
Seeing Fu Meixu in a new light today, brightened their mood and the negative opinion they had about her was slowly vanishing.
Unlike Fu Meixu, Zhi Ruo arrived late. She didn't want to go to today's gathering but her manager forced her out of bed, so she had no choice but to come.
But the thought of seeing Fu Meixu's face after being cheated by her caused her to be very angry and her mood was currently delicate.
When she arrived, she was punished by being asked to drink a glass of beer???? for coming late and she did it and sat down.
They clapped for her and cheered her on. They couldn't be angry with her because she was a veteran, she dressed beautifully and she didn't act haughtily.
Fu Meixu sneered and looked away as she masked her annoyance with her glass of beer ????
Fu Meixu was treated specially because she was the female lead and her manner of approach was likable while Zhi Ruo was treated specially because she was a veteran in the film industry.
While they were giving toasts, Fu Meixu raised a glass to the director first before raising her glass to the movie cast and production crew.
And when everyone thought she was through, they saw her raise her glass to Zhi Ruo.
"Senior, I will have to plead with you to give me a few pointers during filming."
Zhi Ruo scoffed silently and said to her, "Junior, there is no need to give you a few pointers because you are already so capable to get the female lead role for the movie while still being a C-list actress."
Zhi Ruo's words implied a hidden implication as this caused the other casts and crew members to speculate its meaning.
The movie director frowned at Zhi Ruo's words because it was detrimental and could ruin his career and reputation as it implied that something went underground between him and Fu Meixu which was false.
The person that asked him to change the female lead was not Fu Meixu, but someone from the higher-ups, and with Zhi Ruo talking carelessly, he was unhappy about it.
Luckily, Fu Meixu was quick-witted and intervened before the thoughts of the others will go wild.
"Nonsense. I was only picked for the female lead role because a potential was seen in me unlike some people that were suddenly dumped because they were not fit for the role, so senior, I still have to trouble you to give me a few pointers while filming." Fu Meixu said with a taunting smile with her gaze on her.
The smile on Zhi Ruo's face froze, as her looks turned ugly. Fu Meixu's insult really got to her. Zhi Ruo was the only cast member that knew she was the person that was first considered to play the female lead role before it was given to Fu Meixu.
So, Fu Meixu's words were a deep insult to her because her words meant that she didn't have any potential and was unfit to play the female lead role.
The cast members didn't understand the meaning behind Fu Meixu's words, so they saw nothing wrong with it, apart from a few of the production crew like the movie director and producer, who were aware of all these.
It took a lot of effort for Zhi Ruo to calm her nerves down. If no one was there with them, she could have killed Fu Meixu instantly.
Zhi Ruo was forced to accept the toast as she noticed that the director had an unhappy gaze directed towards her and all eyes from the movie cast and production crew were on her.
After accepting the toast, Fu Meixu finished the content of her glass and sat down, while Zhi Ruo remained sitting and took a little sip from her glass.
Amidst the cheers and laughter, Zhi Ruo sent out a text to someone.
"Are you free to pick me up?"
A reply came in a minute later... "No... in a meeting."
Zhi Ruo was disappointed with the response and Fu Meixu smiled when she saw the change in her countenance.
5 minutes later, Zhi Ruo complained of a headache and was allowed to leave. Fu Meixu said she would walk Zhi Ruo out, and the director allowed her while others teased her saying...
"Sister Meixu, don't leave from there."
