In the journal of the Lost Ones Aldrich once read this line: "There is a beast in the heart of every man, as time goes on the beast walks out and you are locked in. Forever."

This was one of the warnings left to him, unfortunately Aldrich didn't read too far into the journal yet, to see the explanation of this line.

The beast crossed the distance of thirty meters in a blink, before the centipede could react. a claw cut through the protective shell in a single strike and broke the shell, the dark energy within the claw tore through the body and sliced the centipede in half.

*SCREETCH*

The upper torso of the Superior screeched in pain, flailing everywhere, purple blood bathed the destroyed hall, but it also fired a stream of blood-red fire at the beast.

The beast jumped ten meters in the air with easy and landed on a pillar then jumped again and again from one pillar to the next. In this way it evaded the fire blast.

But the aura of the centipede increased at this time, after the fire died down the remaining body of the centipede fell down as if couldn't withstand any more damage.

But from underneath that shell an explosive sounded rang and dozens of water canons were fired all at once in a circle that encompassed the entire hall.

The beast, with his speed chose to retreat but as long as he was within the hall he would be hit by the attack. And he was, however right before that a veil of dark and red energy covered him like a cloak from head to toe.

After the attack ended, the beast emerged without a scratch but the rest of the hall was in a state of destruction, a random passerby would be in the right to think that a storm passed by.

The beast howled and an ethereal red dot flashed on his chest and landed on the monster in the middle of the room.

The beast then picked up Aldrich's fallen sword and it expanded to a size suitable for the beast to wield.

Dark and red flames burned on the sword, the enhanced great sword was a special weapon it was just that Aldrich could not wield it and draw out it's true might.

In the center of the attack that devastated the entire battlefield, the centipede revealed it's true form with out the protective shell, it was an amalgamation of sickly flesh woven together with dark magics and twisted to this being.

The centipede was looking for the beast, expecting it to survive albeit with heavy wounds and it would soon be time to finish it off.

However it might have been because of it's weakened state or the steam in the hall that made visibility hard, that it did not notice the beast had appeared behind it seemingly in the span of a blink.

However it was already too late as the great sword pierced it. The upper body of the Superior was about to do something when suddenly his arms were ripped off by giant claws.

Before it could think of anything any more, a maw not too different from it's own was the last thing it saw.

The upper body was actually still part of the centipede below and it was hard to pull it off so the beast used the sword, still stabbed through it and stepped on it driving it into the ground.

Then the beast pulled and pulled, in his mouth screams of anguish echoed but the beast was uncaring, no it seemed to enjoy it more. Finally with a disgusting tearing sound the upper body of the superior was chewed on and then swallowed down.

The beast felt great pleasure, supreme satisfaction. What a meal! Truly delicious! Delightful! But soon his hunger returned, for it could never be truly satisfied. It needed more prey, more essence!

Aldrich reacted in that moment of euphoria, and thought of Uldin, and the gift he gave him when they first met.

In his flesh, a small beetle made of both gears and flesh injected him with the Mind Calming agent.

A long darkness descended on him and after a short moment or was it a long amount of time? He couldn't tell. But he checked up on his body and most importantly on his crest.

It was fine, it was not broken.

When he first lost control Aldrich thought that he broke his crest somehow even though he didn't take the oath. To him, that was the process of him turning into an Oathbreaker, monster without any humanity.

But the longer he thought about it he realized how unlikely that was. In that state it wasn't like he disappeared, he was there, just very faint and unable to control the hunger and greed for essence in him.

He looked around at the wreckage and sighed. At least he lived another day, so that was something.

First thing first, he visualized his crest and without looking at his reflection it was as if he could see his crest. In the lower right corner of his crest, the first slot, there was a symbol.

A symbol of a dark swirling vortex in the center there was a deep red nebula surrounded by grey dust particles that were moving along with the swirling darkness.

This crest certainly did not belong to any of the five classes, it was completely new. It was called the Aeon crest.
