Chapter 1346: Second Store Upgrade Quest(14)

Roar! Argh!

The man and the beast screamed in pain since their blood was being burned by the flame. Laney looked at the scene in front of her with calm eyes.

She had already told the man the risk he was going to take, so she didn't feel any guilt over the scene. But she hoped for the man to break the odds and survive.

"It's time," Laney suddenly called out. The next moment, the flame dimmed in a flash.

Laney immediately charged forward with a knife in her hand. Her target was the beast.

When she reached it, she immediately pierced through the eye of the beast. Laney felt as if she were cutting through an unbreakable material, but she pushed forward. No blood erupted from the injury for a while, but some finally came out.

Laney kept slashing the beast, ignoring the gory scene around her. Laney had never been that brutal, but the last sentence of the leader and that smile made her angry, and she vented all of that on the beast.

Several meters from the beast and Laney, the man closed his eyes and bid farewell to the world. His eyes were teary as he seemed to see his wife welcoming him, ready to embrace him.

The beast was in no condition to fight back at all, and it had long since fallen unconscious due to the combination of weakness and pain. Laney was taking her time and not going directly for the heart.

"Hello, store owner," Gracin greeted Aakesh.

Gracin was a new customer belonging to the Zirich, a race in the Demon group. He came to the store after learning about it from his sister, who was a regular at the store.

"Store owner, I want to buy a beast." Gracin directly stated his purpose for coming to the store.

Aakesh nodded and then explained the beast's product to him. Gracin already knew those things since he had heard them from his sister, but hearing them directly from Aakesh further boosted his confidence in the store.

"Thank you, store owner," Gracin thanked Aakesh and then walked toward the room as pointed out by Aakesh.

Since Gracin learned about the store and the beasts from his sister, he already had a beast in his mind.

When Gracin walked into the room, the scene was the same as what was told by his sister. He couldn't help but marvel at the numerous beast murals painted across the wall.

Gracin's cultivation was peak Lesser God, so he was eligible to summon from both pillars. But since he wanted a beast of his level, he went to the second pillar.

There were seven customers ahead of him, so he had to wait in line. While waiting, he passed his time, looking at the murals on the wall.

The waiting time passed in the blink of an eye and he reached the device.

Gracin took a deep breath and pressed the button, hoping to get the beast he had on his mind.

The next moment, the square light began rotating around the nine sections and kept at it for five seconds.

Following that, a beast known to Gracin appeared on the screen.

It wasn't the one he wanted, but the beast was not bad, so he anticipated its details.

Not long after, a card formed out of nowhere and flew into his hands.

As soon as Gracin began reading the content on it, he became disappointed. The beast was only of Higher quality, and it had no good skills that could impress him.

Gracin then returned the card and pressed the button once again.

The next moment, '1' appeared on top of the screen, and the familiar summoning process occurred.

Five seconds later, a beast appeared on the screen, and following that, a card containing its details.

Gracin returned the second beast as well since the details weren't impressive.

Time flew by, and Gracin pressed the button again.

The next moment, '5' appeared on top of the screen, and the square light began to rotate.

Gracin had yet to receive the beast he wanted, and the phenomenon repeated itself once again.

Since every summoning had turned costly, he didn't make a bad impression of the beast and waited for the card.

Not long after, a card formed out of nowhere and flew into his hands. The disappointment didn't return then, and he found the beast a great partner.

Price: Three hundred ninety-nine thousand supreme Sacred stones.]

The upper half of the card contained an illustration of the beast. The Gray-Striped Leopard's sleek and muscular body was covered in a coat of velvety gray fur, adorned with distinct dark stripes that spanned its entire length. It added to its visual allure. The coloration of its fur created a striking contrast against its surroundings, allowing it to disappear into the shadows with ease. Its strong muscles rippled beneath its fur.

Its eyes were its most captivating feature, gleaming like orbs of molten gold. They radiated an otherworldly intelligence and intensity, reflecting the feral spirit that burned within. The tip of its tail was adorned with a tuft of fur, serving as a visual cue to its emotions and intentions. Its whiskers were long and sensitive, aiding in its navigation through dark terrain and detecting even the slightest vibrations.

Gracin read the details on the card. He really liked the beast, but when his eyes reached the price section, he couldn't help but gulp empty air.

After learning about the store, he already knew how expensive the products there were. The beast bought by her sister also cost tens of thousands of supreme Stones, but since the quality of his beast and its cultivation level was higher, it cost him more than three hundred thousand stones.

Gracin couldn't help but hesitate about whether to complete the purchase since it was more than seventy percent of his total wealth.

After a long bout of hesitation, Gracin greeted his teeth and decided to go through with the purchase.

Time was like a stream that kept flowing without any obstruction, and like that, fifteen more years had passed.

It had been twenty-five years since the second store upgrade quest began, and Laney was chosen as a candidate.

A/N: Sorry only one chapter. It isn't that I don't have chapters to upload. The same was the case yesterday. I had four chapters remaining to complete the mass-released chapters. The chapters related to the Second Store Upgrade quest should focus on Laney and how Aakesh completes the mission, but what I noticed is that I have focused more on other customers than her. I need only to focus on Laney and other side characters with limited reading time. I am refining what to do and how to progress the quest, so only one chapter

The four chapters I owe you will be repaid before the end of this month, and they will only focus on Laney and the quest.

Thanks for Supporting the book!
