Chapter 1292: Hope(10)

Laney kept repeating the name of the beast until it was her turn. When it was finally her turn, she took a deep breath and pressed the button as instructed by the store owner.

The next moment, the square light began to rotate at a quick rate and kept at it for three seconds.

When the three seconds were over, the rotation stopped, and a beast appeared on the screen. It was unfamiliar to Laney, which wasn't surprising due to her young age as well as living in this backwater area of the Universe.

Not long after, a card appeared out of nowhere and flew into her hands. She excitedly grabbed it hard and immediately looked at the name of the beast, hoping it was the one she desired.

A higher power seemed to have materialized her desire, as the name on the card was none other than the Yellow King. It was the same beast about whom the store owner had said that she had almost zero chance of summoning it.

She not only summoned it, but it was only her first try, making it even more special. Laney couldn't help but become excited to see what reaction the store owner would have once she showed the beast card to him.

The upper half of the beast card contained an illustration of the beast. It was a being that seemed to be entirely made of light dots, illuminating the area around it with a glow that devoured all shadows. Its pearly eyes shone with brilliance and reflected profound wisdom.

On its head, there was a crown that was entirely different from its body. It was deep black, with only its tip glowing like its body. It showed the beast's mastery over the elements of light and shadow.

Sigh!

Laney sighed disappointedly and handed the beast card to Aakesh.

As soon as Aakesh saw the beast card in her hands, he understood what Laney wanted to do. There was a difference between a beast card before the taming battle and after the taming battle. After the customer won the taming battle, the storefront pattern on the back of the card would dim.

Aakesh was astounded by Laney at the same time because he knew what kind of beast Laney had acquired. When he looked at the card, it was what he expected, the Yellow King.

"Did I shock you?" Laney sincerely asked, with her big eyes continuously blinking.

Unfortunately for her, she received no response from Aakesh other than his usual indifferent eyes.

After that, Laney lost all interest in having fun with the store owner and brought up Aakesh's bet.

Aakesh wasn't going to back down on his words, so he shared the strategies for how to defeat the beast with Laney. Even though Laney got the beast due to her fortune, she would never be able to defeat it at the level she was at.

"Thank you, store owner!" Laney thanked Aakesh and then turned around to walk toward the beast room.

She joined the line in front of the square device, and after a wait of several minutes, it was finally her turn.

Before putting the beast card, the strategies laid out by Aakesh flashed in her head. It was easy to forget a few words, but Aakesh's words seemed to have been imprinted in her head.

She placed the beast card in the card compartment and put her hands on the respective section. The next moment, she found herself standing in a different environment.

When the bell rang, and the battle began, she played it out exactly as Aakesh had told her. As time passed, her superiority over the beast showed, and finally, the battle came to an end with an overwhelming victory for Laney.

The Yellow King was a powerful elemental creature, but in its early stages, it had more of a supporting background than an attacking or defensive one. It helped Aakesh make a foolproof winning strategy, and it worked.

After the battle was over, Laney's consciousness returned to the store, while the next moment a pricking pain hit her.

She was immensely excited as she pulled out the beast card from the compartment, and the next moment, the smile on her face froze when she saw the price section.

At the end of the day, she was still a child, and in all her excitement, she failed to look at the price of the beast.
